Jeju Samchun

제주삼춘 Samchun is the Jeju word for an older neighbour, an 'uncle' or 'auntie' — and the house names its pork sets by size after the family: Joka (nephew), Samchun (uncle) and Harbang (grandfather, as in the stone dol hareubang).

A Jeju black-pork grill on Sinbuk-ro, a three-to-seven-minute walk from Hamdeok Beach (posts disagree on the exact time). The two-person Joka set, 500 g of neck and belly, is ₩60,000, and at lunch there is a set that adds kimchi stew and rice. Staff grill the meat at your table from start to finish. We read 30 posts dated 8 to 20 October 2026; 14 were about this restaurant, and every one of those was written by someone who ate here. The other 16 were about neighbouring places. The posts are bunched into two weeks, and the ageing and certification pitch and the parking directions repeat word for word across several of them.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Thirteen of the 14 visits say staff grilled the meat the whole way through. Several mention aged kimchi, shishito peppers and mushrooms cooked on the edge of the grill, and being told to try the first piece with just salt. One writer says pieces were cut smaller for her small mouth; another says the meat was cut small for a child.
  2. Waits depend on when you go. Four posts waited and one did not. One party arrived around 7 pm on a weekend, was ninth in line and got in after roughly an hour; another waited behind about seven groups. One couple arrived at 4 pm as the break ended, found free tables, and watched a queue form while they ate; another found the place busy but turning over fast enough that they just missed having to wait. You tell staff and get a numbered ticket, and one post shows seats for waiting with that ticket.
  3. Refills are a split. Three posts got refills: one said each refill was a bit small, another said they brought plenty. A third got the cucumber and scallion salads again but noted the pollock roe costs extra to refill.
  4. Four posts call it spacious; one says the room is not large but has many tables. Nine call it clean, pointing to specifics like no smoke haze, no sticky floor and no grease on the walls. One mentions floor-to-ceiling windows behind the group table.
2 more
  1. Four posts say pets are allowed, but three are repeating the restaurant's listing. Only one actually brought a dog: they phoned ahead, were told it was fine if the dog stayed in a carrier, and ate with it caged.
  2. Two posts mention high chairs. The one family that brought a child also found children's tableware ready.

Parking

4 posts say you can park. None say you cannot.

Posts saying you can park4 of 14 posts

All four posts that actually parked used the free public lot behind the Olive Young in Hamdeok, and three of them said it was big. The spot right in front of the restaurant is described as tight or nonexistent. Three posts give the same directions word for word (the green fence, between two other restaurants), so we treat those as text supplied by the restaurant and did not count them.

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside

Toilet inside2 of 14 posts
Separate restrooms2 of 14 posts

No post describes which floor it is on from experience; '1st floor' appears only in the address. That doesn't mean otherwise — nobody wrote about it.

We don't know whether there is a step at the entrance or whether a wheelchair or stroller can get in; nobody mentioned it.

Three posts mention the toilets: separate men's and women's toilets inside the restaurant, separate and clean, and a clean indoor toilet.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know

  • No post covers getting here by bus; they only give walking distances from Hamdeok Beach or the Sono Belle resort, so we can't say how practical public transport is.
  • Ten posts give opening hours, all copied from a listing: daily 12:00–23:00 in all ten, a break from 15:00 to 16:00 in six, last order at 22:00 in seven. Two add that it can close early if it runs out. No post mentions a closing day.
  • Prices are from October 2026 posts. Five agree the Joka set is ₩60,000, but only one gives a lunch-set price (₩99,000 for 800 g), and nobody priced the two-person 400 g lunch set. Apart from the ₩8,000 kimchi stew and noodles, we don't know side or drink prices.
  • Four posts copy the phone number 0507-1483-5565. Some say only groups of eight or more can book, via Naver or by phone; one post actually booked ahead.
  • One post mentions a recent remodel, but nobody says when or what changed; everything we read describes the place afterwards.
  • The '300-hour wet ageing', 'grapevine-chip smoking' and 'Jeju-certified pork' lines show up word for word across many posts; we treat them as the restaurant's own pitch, not evidence. No post discloses sponsorship, but the 14 posts land within two weeks and repeat the same text, and two mention a free kimchi stew for leaving a Naver photo review.
