Hyeongjedeul Gamjatang

형제들감자탕 Hyeongjedeul means 'the brothers', and gamjatang is a stew of pork backbone and potato; this is the chain's company-run Jeju branch.

Compiled from 20 blog posts read in fullSources →

A gamjatang and pork-backbone soup house on Yeonsam-ro in Ido-dong, Jeju City, by the Ido Plaza intersection next to Kim Ki-su Eye Clinic and a Twosome Place. It is the company-run Jeju branch of a chain that began in Incheon, and the menu is little more than gamjatang (small 32,000, medium 38,000, large 44,000 won), backbone soup at 10,000 won and radish-greens soup at 8,000 won. Groups cook a pot of stew at the table, add noodles or dough, and finish with fried rice; people on their own get a bowl of backbone soup. Nearly every post leads with the fact that it is open around the clock. We read 25 posts from June 2025 to October 2026; 24 of them describe an actual visit.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. It gets busy, but posts describe walking straight in. Many posts call the dining room large, and 3 say that is why there was no wait. People found it full after 9 p.m. on the Friday of the Lunar New Year holiday and on an early Tuesday evening. Two posts mention a separate group room.
  2. Noise splits evenly. Two posts found it loud, both because of party and work-dinner tables ('felt like a karaoke room'). Two found it calm, with tables spaced far enough apart that you can't hear the next table. That's two against two.
  3. 8 posts say there was no gamey pork smell. One regular who has been about 15 times says it smelled just once. Two posts say the red broth is not spicy.
  4. 12 posts say the portions are big; one couple barely finished a small pot between them. On the other hand, one post says the rice bowl holds about half of what other places give, so they always order more.
2 more
  1. 6 posts say you order from a tablet at the table; one found it inconvenient. 7 mention refilling side dishes at the self-serve bar, and 2 note that barley tea is served.
  2. 2 posts say a staff member fried the rice at the table. The March 2026 menu lists it at 3,000 won, but one February post paid 2,000 won and another says it is 2,000 won cheaper if you fry it yourself, so we can't pin down the price.

Parking

12 posts say you can park. None say you cannot.

Posts saying you can park12 of 20 posts

Parking is the most-mentioned thing here: 12 visit posts say first-hand that the lot is large. Two give a sense of scale — 'over 100 pyeong' and 'parking all the way behind the building' — and one adds that this is otherwise a very hard neighbourhood to park in.

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside

Separate restrooms1 of 20 posts

No post says from experience what floor it is on or whether there are stairs; the 'ground floor' in the address is copied text.

No post mentions a step at the entrance or getting in with a wheelchair or stroller. That means nobody wrote about it, not that there is no step.

Nobody says whether the toilet is inside the restaurant. One post says it is split by gender and clean.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 21 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Only one post covers public transport: it is right by the Gosandongsan bus stop. A business traveller walked over from a hotel but didn't take a bus.
  • 14 posts list the hours as 24 hours, every day, but most of that is copied from listings. First-hand, one post found it open at dawn, one went after 9 p.m. on the Lunar New Year Friday, and one says it stays open on holidays.
  • On Jeju's local currency (Tamnaneunjeon), a March 2026 post says the shop doesn't take it, while copied listing text in another March 2026 post says it does. Nobody reports actually paying with it.
  • Many posts give the phone number 064-757-7779. Reservations come up only in copied listings and as hearsay; nobody says they booked by phone.
  • Two posts come from the same blogger (May and October 2026), both written in a promotional, hashtag-heavy style. A June 2026 post is from a travel-app platform's official blog and ends with an ad for the app. No post discloses sponsorship.
