BYULDONBYUL

별돈별 중문본점 Byeoldonbyeol Jungmun Bonjeom A coined name — byeol is the Korean word for star and don comes from the Sino-Korean word for pig; the posts do not explain it further.

Compiled from 25 blog posts read in fullSources →

A black-pork barbecue restaurant beside a tangerine orchard at 61 Gusanbong-ro, Hawon-dong, Seogwipo, about ten minutes' drive from the Jungmun resort area. Staff grill everything at your table, and five posts give 69,000 won for two portions of the signature bone-in belly. Korean beef tenderloin is 69,000 won for 160 g, tangerine-peel pot rice 3,000 won, kimchi stew 6,000 won. We read 30 posts dated 26 July to 21 October 2026. We set aside one about a different branch in Hangyeong-myeon, and did not count three posts from the restaurant's own blog or one list post; the remaining 25 describe actual visits.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. The staff do the grilling. All 24 posts that describe ordering say staff cooked the meat for them. Several say the staff also cut it and explained how to eat it — salt first, then wrapped in a tortilla with seaweed salad. A family with a 19-month-old said it was a relief not to have to grill.
  2. Expect to wait in the evening. Eight posts say they queued; four walked straight in. One registered on CatchTable at 6 p.m. on a weekday with six groups ahead and still waited another 30 minutes after arriving; another got in after five minutes at 7 p.m.; a third in under ten. The four who did not wait all came at quiet times — opening, right after the break, or around 5 p.m. Eleven posts booked ahead, and one of those still had to wait.
  3. High ceilings and a very large room: 11 posts mention the ceiling height, 12 the size, and six the full-height windows looking onto the orchard. One likened it to a big auditorium. Several note that some tables have partitions and some do not.
  4. There is a self-service bar: 11 posts topped up greens, garlic, shishito peppers and side dishes there. Two mention a microwave for warming baby food.
3 more
  1. Eight posts came with children. Four received the free tray meal for under-fives — rice balls, pork cutlet, zucchini and clear seaweed soup — and three got the free birthday tray with seaweed soup; both need to be requested in advance.
  2. It is not cheap: four posts say so outright. One receipt for two — two portions of bone-in belly, an extra 270 g of belly, two sodas and a bowl of rice — came to 109,000 won, with kimchi stew free for a receipt review. The review offer lets you pick kimchi stew, an ade or steamed egg.
  3. Five posts call the portions generous. Two portions of the belly come to 540 g — almost a full geun, as one post puts it — and another group of three filled up on two portions plus sides.

Parking

Posts saying you can park11 of 25 posts

The car park is large. Eleven posts parked there themselves; three give its size as 40-plus, 50-plus or about 50 cars. One found it almost full at 7 p.m. on a weekday and parked behind the building, and another says it gets hard to park when it is busy.

Getting inside

No post describes which floor the dining room is on or any stairs; only the address says ground floor. That means nobody wrote about it, not that there is nothing to know.

No post mentions a step at the entrance or going in with a wheelchair or pushchair — not even the eight that came with children. We do not know.

No post says where the toilets are or whether they are separate for men and women. We do not know.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 29 posts we gathered, 4 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

2026-08-212 posts in one day

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Almost every post likes the food, but two do not. One says black pork tastes much the same everywhere and once was enough; another got belly with far too much fat and is unsure about returning. Two posts are from repeat visitors.
  • Every post gives opening hours of 12:00 to 22:00 daily, but the afternoon break seems to have changed. Four August 2026 posts give 15:00–17:00 with last orders at 21:00; twelve posts from 1 September give 15:00–16:30 with last orders at 14:15 and 21:15. Three October posts still say 15:00–17:00, probably copied from older listings. Most of these times were copied from information boxes rather than observed.
  • Only one post tried public transport: they took a taxi there, could not get one back, rode the bus and found it quite unnerving — their advice is to drive. Two posts list bus routes (No. 282 to Hawon-dong, then a 10-minute walk; No. 655, 3 minutes), but that is copied information.
  • Several posts copy a line saying pets are allowed, but only one actually brought a dog. It had to stay fully inside a carrier the whole time, and the writer wondered whether that really counts as pet-friendly.
  • A few prices differ by one post each: cold noodles are 7,000 won in three Sep–Oct 2026 posts but 9,000 won in one August post; a bowl of rice is 2,000 won in October but 1,000 won on a June receipt. With one post on each side, we cannot tell whether prices changed.
  • Eight posts give the phone number 0507-1309-5895; the restaurant's blog and one other post give 064-739-5895. Reservations are via CatchTable or Naver; walk-ins register on a tablet at the door and get a KakaoTalk message when the table is ready.
  • Many September–October posts repeat the same three lines in the same order — 672-hour aging, rice grown by a grandmother in Yangpyeong, a blend of three world-class salts. These come from banners in the restaurant and from three posts on its own blog, so we did not treat them as evidence. No post discloses sponsorship.
