The Jeju branch of Seoul's Mongtan, by the sea at Dongbok-ro 83 in Gujwa, right next to London Bagel Museum. Straw-fire-seared beef short rib is grilled at your table by staff from start to finish; many posts compare the dim, stone-walled room with its large masks to a cave. A portion of short rib was 35,000 won in September 2026 posts and 37,000 won in October ones. We read 23 posts dated September 22 to October 28, 2026; four were about the Aewol branch or a neighbouring shop and were set aside, and 17 describe an actual meal.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- You don't grill here. Fifteen of the 17 visit posts say staff did all the grilling, and eight say the meat arrived already seared. Several describe staff cutting the meat off the bone, grilling the chewy rib-edge meat separately at the end, and explaining to try the first bite without sauce.
- Eleven posts booked through CatchTable. One says slots open two weeks ahead at 9 a.m., another warns of a 30,000-won deposit (a different post linked a 'zero deposit' offer). One notes you are not seated until your whole party has arrived.
- Five posts came with children, and three got high chairs. One found two pre-requested high chairs and kids' tableware already set; another says the strap couldn't be adjusted. One parent liked not having to worry about the grill near the child; another says the dark room scared their toddlers at first.

You park in the paid lot across the road (Kakao T or the 'Gongbaek' lot) and the restaurant covers one hour. Nine posts mention parking, six of them the lot opposite. One gives 5,000 won an hour, one paid about 10,000 won, and one says support was only an hour and the parking app failed, needing two phone calls. Only one post describes a dedicated restaurant lot.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.
Getting inside
| Step-free access | yes 0 · no 1 (of 17 posts read) |

| Separate restrooms | 1 of 17 posts |
No post describes the floor level or stairs from experience; only the address says ground floor.
One post says strollers are not allowed inside, so they carried the babies in slings through a narrow, dark passage. Nobody wrote about a step at the entrance or wheelchair access; that means we don't know, not that there is none.
One post shows the way to the toilets and the separate men's and women's signs; nobody says whether they are inside the restaurant.
No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 19 posts we gathered, 2 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Prices went up. September 2026 posts list the short rib at 35,000 won a portion and truffle egg at 13,000; posts from October 24 on list 37,000 and 15,000 (one October post still gives 13,000 for the egg). Seven posts call it expensive. Recorded bills: 217,000 won for three adults and two children, 263,000 for four adults and two children, 275,000 for a family of six.
- Waits vary. Three posts saw people queuing on site; one arrived just after noon on a Monday, found five groups ahead and waited 40 minutes. One walked straight in at 2 p.m. on a weekday.
- No post arrived by bus or public transport; three say they drove, and the rest only talk about parking.
- Twelve posts give the same hours, 11:30 to 21:00, and nine add last order at 20:00, but most of them copied it into a header. A 15:00-17:00 break appears in only one list post, so we did not rely on it. Only one post gives a phone number (0507-1371-5592); most booked through CatchTable.
- Smoke is disputed: two posts say the big extractor kept it down and clothes didn't smell, one found the room thick with smoke.
