RUDDY'S

러디스 Reodiseu Ruddy's is an English name — 'ruddy' means reddish — but no post explains why the café took it.

Compiled from 22 blog posts read in fullSources →

Ruddy's is a large café in a two-storey red-brick building at 202 Worldcup-ro, Gangjeong-dong, Seogwipo, right on the sea by Beophwan harbour. It is mostly coffee and a bakery counter, but it stays open until 10 pm and also serves draught beer, pizza and French toast. Behind the building are seaside outdoor seats facing Beomseom island and a garden walk. An americano is 6,000 won, a latte 7,000 won, and the signature drinks (Udo peanut latte, Sweet & Salty, summer-orange yuja ade) 8,000-8,500 won. We read 30 posts dated 24 March to 27 October 2026: 24 describe a visit, 4 are introductions, lists or ads, and 2 were set aside as being about other places.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.

What sets it apart

  1. The outdoor seating is the point of the place: thirteen posts sat at, or described, the seaside tables or the first-floor terrace. The sea wind is strong — an April visitor was cold, a May post warns the front-row seats get windy, and in August one visitor could not last five minutes outside in the heat. Several posts mention blankets set out inside for customers.
  2. Five posts call the car park large and easy; one April visitor saw it differently, describing a small lot that would be hard when busy.
  3. Five posts describe the review draw: write a Naver review, show the staff, pull a stick. Prizes reported were egg tarts and financiers; one post says first prize is a bottle of cold-brew concentrate. One visitor saw it but did not take part.
  4. Eight posts mention beer. One lists draught IPA, Kölsch, pale ale and porter; another tells of a friend who ordered by mistake, got a beer instead of coffee, and was happy about it.

  1. Three posts found it expensive: 55,000 won for the apple-mango shaved ice was a surprise, the 8,500-won peanut latte felt pricey for its size, and one simply said it wasn't cheap. Another called it standard tourist-café pricing without passing judgement.
  2. Two posts came with a dog. One was told dogs are allowed on the outdoor terrace only; the other noticed a leash hook outside the toilets.

Getting inside

Second floor10 of 22 posts
In a basementyes 0 · no 3 (of 22 posts read)
Toilet inside3 of 22 posts
Separate restrooms3 of 22 posts

Ten posts describe the upper floor. An August post says it has big windows on three sides with a clear sea view; a July post found it so hot that the customers upstairs all moved down. One regular brings a laptop and stays for hours, saying the upstairs rarely fills on weekdays.

No post mentions a step at the entrance, a ramp or a lift. The toilets are said to be upstairs only, yet nobody says how you get up there. That means we don't know, not that there is none.

Three posts say the men's and women's toilets are both upstairs. One adds that the women's room had no baby-changing table.

No one mentioned: Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 26 posts we gathered, 4 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Cleanliness is split. One post found the upstairs toilets clean; an August visitor skipped the bakery because insects were flying around and landing on the bread. A July post retreated indoors from mosquitoes in the garden.
  • No one arrived by bus. One post says there is no stop nearby — get off at Seogeondo entrance and walk about ten minutes — and recommends a car or taxi. A 'ten minutes from Gangjeong station' line in another post comes from an auto-generated listing and was not counted.
  • No post reports waiting. One calls the window seats a scramble, and several weekday or early visitors found it quiet. The only mention of weekend queues is in an auto-generated listing and was not counted, so we don't know what weekends are like.
  • All opening hours are copied from the café's listing. Ten posts up to 19 August 2026 give 9:30 am-10 pm; four from 31 August on give 9 am-10 pm, so opening seems to have moved earlier in late August. Last order is listed as 9:30 pm. A lodging ad from 20 September still says 9:30. One post says the café is open every day of the year.
  • Ten posts give the same phone number, 0507-1445-4530. No one reports making a reservation; the line about hiring the space for events, meetings and weddings is copied from the café's own listing.
  • Only one post, from a June 2023 visit, describes a rooftop with beanbags facing the sea. The 2026 visits mention the first-floor terrace but no rooftop, so we can't say whether it still exists.
  • One post came with a small child, walked the garden, and thought the churros suited kids. A note that toddlers may not use the upstairs terrace is the café's own rule, passed on by a visitor.
  • A 7 September post noticed the furniture had been rearranged into more separate, cosier seating; we don't know when that happened. Some posts were not counted as visits: two template introductions built from the Naver listing, an ad for a nearby lodging, and a top-ten list of Seogwipo cafés.
