Geumgang Minmul Jangeo
금강민물장어 Minmul jangeo means freshwater eel; Geumgang is a common Korean place-name word (the Geum River, or 'diamond' as in the Diamond Mountains), and the posts do not say which is meant.

A freshwater-eel grill on Iljudong-ro in Donghong-dong, Seogwipo, next to the Miracle Library. Eel comes salt-grilled, herbal-glazed or in gochujang, and three eels (1 kg) cost 98,000 won. What every post dwells on is the spread that covers the table before the eel arrives: raw fish, beef tartare, butter-grilled abalone, marinated crab and more. Most seating is in private rooms. We read 21 posts from November 2024 to September 2026; 14 describe an actual visit, the rest are holiday opening lists, info blogs, a travel-agency ad and a roundup.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- Seating is mostly private rooms: nine posts ate in one, and one says every table is in a room. There is also a main hall — a longtime regular ate there for the first time because the rooms were full. One party of six adults and two children filled a single room.
- The eel comes out already cooked and staff cut it at the table; seven posts say so. Two posts say to warm it on the burner for a minute or two and then switch it off, and one diner who forgot found the eel had dried out a little.
- Four posts booked ahead. One family turned up on 25 July 2025, was told the place was booked solid until the end of August, and saw the next party turned away too. On the other hand, one post found it quiet on a weekday evening and another walked in late without waiting.
- Six posts describe repeat visits — a regular since childhood, a family that holds grandfather's birthday here every year, a diner who feels well looked after each time. Six posts came with family, three as a couple and one in a party of eight.
2 more
- Five posts call the eel plump or thick. A party of four ordered three eels and had some left over because the side dishes had filled them up; four posts in all found the portions large.
- One post notes that even in the rooms you keep your shoes on; no other post mentions shoes.

Five posts say they parked. Three say about three cars fit in front of the shop; one of them used the free lots nearby (Donghong-dong 647-10 and 648-1), about a two-minute walk. One post says to use the free lot except at lunch and after 6 pm, and another parked on the street beside the restaurant.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.
Getting inside
No post says which floor the restaurant is on or whether there are stairs — not that there are none, just that nobody wrote about it.
No post mentions a step at the entrance or getting in with a wheelchair or stroller. People came with children, but nobody described the way in.
No post says whether the toilet is inside or separated by gender.
No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 21 posts we gathered, 7 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Prices need dating. Four visit posts from May to November 2025 all give 98,000 won for three eels (1 kg). The two-eel set for two was 69,000 won in a January 2025 post and 77,000 won in an August 2026 post. Three posts say it is not expensive; two say some side-dish refills cost extra.
- Seven posts agree on 10:00-22:00, closed Mondays, though several are copied info lines; one post alone says Tuesdays. Only one gives last orders at 21:00. The three holiday-opening lists show different open days each holiday. Several posts advise calling ahead (064-733-2119) to check and book.
- No post describes getting there by bus. One says it sits on the main road next to the Miracle Library; most posts talk about parking, suggesting people mostly drive.
- One post actually saw high chairs; two others list them only in a copied info header, which we did not count. Two posts came with children.
