Chinese

Gillimseong

길림성 Gillimseong is the Korean reading of Jilin Province (吉林省) in northeast China.

Compiled from 9 blog posts read in fullSources →

A neighbourhood Chinese restaurant one floor below street level at Sinseogwi-ro 3, near Jeju World Cup Stadium in Seogwipo's new town. Black-bean noodles cost 5,000 won and jjamppong 7,000 won, and the dining room is large enough for solo diners and families alike. We read 14 posts from December 2025 to October 2026; 9 describe an actual visit. Four were about other Chinese restaurants and one was a promotional write-up, so we did not count them.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. All eight posts that discussed price said it was cheap; none called it expensive. The 5,000-won jjajangmyeon is the same in every post from December 2025 to October 2026, though the August 2026 menu lists takeout at 7,000 won.
  2. Seven of the nine visit posts said the dining room is spacious, with many tables set well apart; two noted it looks small from the entrance but opens up inside.
  3. Five posts said a small yogurt drink comes free with the meal; one noted it is not handed out every time.
  4. Four posts said kkakdugi, pickled radish and onion can be topped up from a self-serve bar; one added that condiment pots are on some tables but not others.

  1. Of five posts that ordered tangsuyuk, four said the coating was crisp, and three noted the sauce comes on the side.

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside

In a basement2 of 9 posts

Two posts said you go down to reach it: it looks like a ground-floor shop from outside, but you walk down a short flight of stairs.

No post says whether a wheelchair or stroller can get in or whether there is a step; one mentions a short flight of stairs down, and nobody mentions a lift or ramp. That is silence, not proof of absence.

No post says where the toilet is or whether it is separated by gender. We don't know.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 10 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • No post describes arriving by bus; they only place it opposite E-mart and behind the 'New Seogwipo' marker stone.
  • Nobody wrote that they waited. Two found it quiet (a late lunch and an evening), one said it was very busy but did not mention queuing. A line saying there may be a lunchtime wait was part of a pasted summary, so we did not count it.
  • Opening hours appear in three posts as pasted info blocks: two say 10:20, one 10:00, and all three give last orders at 21:00 with Thursdays closed. One other post says last orders are at 11. None of these were checked on a visit.
  • No post mentions booking. Two phone numbers appear, 064-733-7032 and 0507-1367-7032, each in two posts.
  • Prices shift over time: ganjjajang was 8,000 won in a February 2026 post and 9,000 won on the August 2026 menu. No post reports a change to the 5,000-won jjajangmyeon or 7,000-won jjamppong; a single bowl of noodles runs 5,000 to 10,000 won.
  • One post says Gillimseong moved into this spot after the previous restaurant, Pujuok, closed. Nobody says when or from where; every post we read is from the current address.
  • Heat depends on the dish: two posts found the jjamppong mild, while one found the ganjjajang spicy from chilli oil and suggested plain jjajang for children.
  • Several posts call it good for solo dining, but none says the writer went alone. Two went with family and children, two with friends, one with a spouse.
  • Three posts from 4, 6 and 8 October 2026 share the same hours block and stock phrases about professional pest-control hygiene and being easy for families, solo diners and groups. None discloses sponsorship, but they may follow a common brief. As for the green noodles, what the owner told writers differs (chives in one post, spinach in another), so we don't rely on either.
