Seonghwajeong

성화정 Seonghwajeong: the ending 'jeong' usually means a pavilion, a common closing syllable for restaurant names; none of the posts explains 'Seonghwa'.

Compiled from 8 blog posts read in fullSources →

Seonghwajeong sits on the ground floor of the Somerset clubhouse inside Jeju Shinhwa World in Andeok-myeon, Seogwipo. From 7 to 11 a.m. it is a breakfast buffet (58,000 won for adults, 35,000 won for ages 7-12); from lunch on it is a Chinese restaurant serving jjamppong, sweet-and-sour pork, cream jjamppong and japchae rice. We read 30 posts dated 3 September to 23 October 2026. Eight describe actually eating here (four breakfasts, four Chinese meals), and one of the Chinese meals took place in February 2024 and was written up later. Seventeen only introduce the place without a visit (13 of them are Somerset room-sales posts), and five were set aside as being about other venues.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Breakfast is cheaper if you pay the day before. All four breakfast posts mention the guest prepayment discount: two say 58,000 won drops to 46,000 won for adults (one adds 35,000 to 28,000 won for ages 7-12), and two call it 20% off. All of this is from early September 2026, and payment had to be made by the previous day. One family added the next morning's breakfast at check-in and was seated straight away without paying again.
  2. After 8 a.m. it gets busy. One couple who came at the 7 a.m. opening found only two or three tables taken, but within half an hour the room filled and by eight it was chaotic. Another family walked straight in at about 8:30 while the room kept filling; a third, arriving around nine, put their name on a CatchTable waitlist the moment they arrived and got in quickly. That is the only post that actually waited.
  3. Four posts came with children. The breakfast buffet has a kids' corner at the back; one diner found its pork cutlet very soft rather than crisp and the spaghetti sweet, aimed squarely at children. At dinner, one family asked for the slightly spicy seafood black-bean noodles to be made mild for the kids.
  4. Five posts came with family, several of them three-generation trips with grandparents. One came as a couple and one with friends for a hangover lunch. One Jeju resident says they come at least once a month for the jjamppong and sweet-and-sour pork.

Getting inside

In a basementyes 0 · no 3 (of 8 posts read)

It is on the ground floor of the Somerset clubhouse: three visiting posts say so, and one gives the route as through the lobby toward the restrooms. Posts note the reception and the Tamora pool share the building.

Nobody wrote about steps at the entrance or wheelchair or stroller access. That means we do not know, not that there is a problem.

Nobody said whether the restroom is inside the restaurant or separated by gender; one post only mentions passing the lobby restrooms on the way in.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 25 posts we gathered, 17 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

2026-10-112 posts in one day
2026-09-232 posts in one day

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Three posts call it expensive: one found breakfast pricey even at the discount, another said it is not cheap, and a dinner post said the bill runs high. No visiting post recorded any Chinese-menu prices. Child breakfast pricing is disputed: the sales posts and one breakfast post say under-sevens eat free, but one family in early September paid an 18,000 won toddler rate for a five-year-old, with only under-36-months free.
  • Whether the room is spacious splits one to one: one post calls it roomy and clean, another found it smaller than expected.
  • Only the 7-11 a.m. breakfast hours are consistent across four visiting posts. Lunch and dinner hours come from copied listings: one post's info block shows breaks at 11:00-12:00 and 14:30-18:00 with last order at 21:00, and the official Shinhwa World blog gives 12:00-14:30 and 18:00-21:30. Nobody mentioned a closing day.
  • A phone number (0507-1429-1604) appears only in one post's copied info block. Two posts reserved or prepaid ahead; one of them booked a dinner table and found it set when they arrived.
  • No visiting post arrived by bus. The airport express 151 to Shinhwa World is mentioned only in room-sales posts; the diners were hotel guests who walked or drove over.
  • Thirteen of the 30 posts are Somerset room-sales posts: ten share a Yeogieottae link and the same blurb about a 154 m2 suite 'three to four times a normal hotel room', two are MyRealTrip commission posts (one says it was written with AI), and one is a group-buy promotion. They only repeat breakfast prices, so we did not count them. One claims to have paid its own way and stayed, yet in the same post says it is off to book the room now.
