Busan Ajimae-jip

부산아지매집 Busan Ajimae-jip means 'the Busan auntie's house' — ajimae is Busan dialect for a middle-aged woman.

Compiled from 16 blog posts read in fullSources →

Busan Ajimae-jip is a Korean home-style restaurant in a newly built house at 194 Aewol-ro, across from the Aewol township office in Jeju. In posts from the first half of 2026, cheonggukjang, kimchi cheonggukjang and kimchi stew cost 10,000 won a portion and pollack stew 11,000 won. The menu also has grilled hairtail (20,000 won a portion), grilled mackerel (15,000 won), rolled omelette (6,000 won) and black-pork neck you grill yourself (40,000 won for 500 g). Stews are set on a burner at the table, and you refill side dishes at a self-serve bar. Two posts said it was a small shop in Nohyeong-dong that moved here around 2022. We read 23 posts dated November 2025 to October 2026. Nineteen describe a meal there; the other four only list the name in round-ups or a guesthouse host's recommendations.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.

What sets it apart

  1. Side dishes come up more than anything else. Ten posts said they went back to the self-serve bar for more. One listed all six banchan (small anchovies in chili paste, scallion kimchi, seasoned cucumber, rapeseed greens, bean sprouts, fresh kimchi) and found a seventh, rapeseed greens in soybean paste, at the bar. Another raved about the stuffed cucumber kimchi and admitted taking far too much, and one said the banchan seem to change with each visit.
  2. Nine posts said the portions are large: a single portion of kimchi stew that was plenty, grilled hairtail for one that came on two plates, a pollack stew described as overflowing. One post added that the rice bowls are filled to the top.
  3. Nine posts said the dining room is big; one called it enormous, and several said groups fit easily. Two noted large windows that let in plenty of light, and three mentioned a robot that brings out side dishes.
  4. Six posts describe family meals: trips with a mother, a father's 80th-birthday trip, two parents with two children. Four were couples. One post liked that everyone could order something different, and one noted high chairs.

Parking

8 posts say you can park. None say you cannot.

Posts saying you can park8 of 16 posts

It is easy to reach by car. Eight posts said they parked there, and five called the lot large. One said there was space even in the middle of lunch, with three or four more spots across the way. That post and one other warned that a tree hides the sign from the road, and one driver missed the turn and had to loop back.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside

No post says which floor they ate on or whether there were stairs. The address says ground floor, but no visitor confirmed it.

No post says whether there is a step at the entrance or whether a wheelchair or stroller can get in. One remarked on a wide entrance, but it is unclear whether that meant the driveway or the door.

One post said the restroom is clean with plenty of hot water. No one said whether it is inside the restaurant or separated by gender.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 20 posts we gathered, 4 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Three posts said the seasoning is gentle, mild enough for children. One post disagreed: it found the pollack and kimchi stews a little bland.
  • Two posts said the restaurant used to be a small shop in Nohyeong-dong and moved to Aewol; one said into a new building around 2022. Every post we read is from after the move, and nothing from the Nohyeong-dong days is mixed in here.
  • Opening hours depend on the date of the post. All agree it opens at 10:00 and breaks from 15:00 to 17:00. Five posts from January to April 2026 gave closing time as 22:00, and two from May 2026 as 21:00, so it seems to close earlier now. Five posts said it is closed on Mondays. Last orders are listed at both 14:00 and 20:00; the 14:00 lunch cutoff may mean no orders in the hour before the break. Most of these hours were copied from listings.
  • On price: three posts up to March 2026 gave 10,000 won for kimchi stew, and one May 2026 post gave 11,000 won for 'black-pork kimchi stew'. One post is not enough to tell whether the price went up or the dish was simply named differently. Six posts called it good value. Two stews and an omelette for two came to 26,000 won, and a family of four paid 60,000 won for two stews and grilled hairtail for two.
  • Three posts gave the phone number as 064-713-4967. One said that if you call ahead to book, the food is ready when you arrive.
  • No post mentions waiting for a table. That means nobody wrote about it, not that there is never a wait. One post arrived at 10:30 on a Friday and saw customers keep coming in, one found it quiet at 5 p.m. until groups arrived, and one walked in right at opening.
  • No post describes arriving by bus; everyone who said how they got there drove. We don't know how practical public transport is.
  • Two of the posts by people who didn't visit (October 2026) are 'Aewol local favorites top 10' lists built on the same template. We didn't use the parking and hours details they copied in.
