Data as of · Published ·

A minari restaurant on the ground floor of a building on Maeyeong-ro in Yeongtong, Suwon, across from Kyung Hee University's international campus. The menu splits in two: minari shabu with kalguksu, simmered in a pot, and a mountain of duck brisket grilled on a hot stone. Either way, the minari and vegetables at the self-service bar are unlimited and free — and because they are, each person must order a dish. One shabu portion carries three courses: beef, then green minari noodles, then fried rice or porridge — and the rice and porridge are refillable too. It opened on 19 March 2025. What we read runs from two days after that to September 2026, a year and a half. We separated the branches. Five of the thirty confirmed posts were about the Ingye branch of the same chain — different address, phone, hours and parking. One writer says plainly that she had meant to come here but it was a Tuesday, so she went to the branch that opens daily instead. Another, comparing this place with a third branch she had tried, writes that the difference between branches is severe. This page describes Yeongtong only.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.

What sets it apart

  1. It is big — the observation that recurs most here. There is a reason: one writer explains that the restaurant takes in three separate units of the building, knocked together. Two writers put a number on it — forty-eight people, or thirty and more. Around that: a hall that will take a company dinner, tables far enough apart that the next one is not your business, chairs that do not knock. One notes a lot of two- and four-tops. One July 2026 post records that the tables had been thinned out for the summer to space them further apart — whether that lasted, we do not know. The front is a folding glass wall, thrown open in good weather. Four writers describe the effect: like eating on a terrace, like a beer garden, the whole front open and cool. It does not mean there are outdoor seats.
  2. If you are from the university, it is cheaper. Five posts say so; the one that names a figure says a thousand won off the shabu per head. One notes it covers staff as well as students, and another that it counts if anyone you live with is a student. Three minutes from the main gate, four writers say — hence the student tables. Weekday lunchtimes have their own menu, 11.30 to 2, which one writer was told is the same dish a thousand won cheaper. Another mentions a duck rice bowl sold only between 11 and 5 on weekdays. And a Naver review gets you two dumplings or 75g of beef — four writers record it. One adds that following the shop's page brings a coupon.
  3. Ten posts mention the staff and all ten are warm — but here that is less about manners than about being told what to do, since the meal runs three courses and you mix your own sauces. The lines repeat: explained it all because we said it was our first time; recommended a sauce combination while laying the meat down; walked us through the cooking, the eating and the self-service bar; told us to add perilla to the duck. One writer's gas burner was running weak and a passing member of staff swapped the canister. Every table has toothpicks, a hair tie and a small mirror, which eight writers note. Aprons and silicone handles too.
  4. Because the vegetables are unlimited, everyone at the table orders. Two writers say so, one of them wishing she had known first. This is not a place to share one dish between two. There is, though, a child's portion at ₩9,000 (ages 8–13), and one writer ordered a separate child's fried rice with the spicy seasoning left out.
  5. Only one writer describes the children's equipment with her own eyes — and she photographed her daughter in it. She records a high chair and a compartmented child's tray. Another post contains the words 'high chair available', but strung together with 'separate lavatories, booking, wi-fi, mobile payment' — Naver's own facilities list, so we have not counted it. What a post says and what its writer saw are different things. Four writers came with children. Among their notes: feed them the meat and they do fine; nothing here is sharp or salty enough to be a problem; and one child who will not eat noodles from a shabu pot demanded more of these.

Parking

Posts saying you can park14 of 22 posts

There is a car park in the building and it is free with a meal — the second and third floors above ground, by two accounts. Four call it roomy: plenty of spaces, nothing to worry about. Finding it is the hard part, and that is the real story here. The entrance is on the far side of the building from the restaurant, tucked into an alley between shops and easy to miss. Three writers tell you to search a navigation app for the car park by name rather than the restaurant. One lost her signal nearby and drove a full lap looking for it; another found the entrance blocked by a lorry and parked out front instead. Two mention that the street outside will do.

Getting inside

Step-free accessyes 0 · no 1

If you are bringing a pushchair, read this line. One writer, there with her baby, notes of the way down from the car park: it is stairs, so those with pushchairs should be aware. The car park is on the second and third floors and the restaurant on the ground, so this appears to mean the internal route down is stepped. That is the whole of what we know about access. No post mentions a threshold, a ramp, a lift or a wheelchair, and even this line was written as directions rather than as an answer. What the front entrance is like, we do not know.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 23 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • The hours changed; they are not in dispute. Every 2025 post says 11 to 10, last orders at 9, and not one mentions an afternoon break. Every 2026 post says 11.30 to 9.30, last orders at 8.30, with a break from three. One post from November 2025, in between, splits the week: 9.30 on weekdays, 10 at weekends. Three writers say the break is weekdays only — but they disagree about when it ends, 4.30 or 5 (the two April 2026 posts say five). Worth checking before you go. On the Tuesday closing, twelve posts agree. One notes that for a month in July 2026 it closed Wednesdays too, and there was a two-day closure over the autumn holiday. And it closes early when the greens run out — the minari comes in fresh each day, one post explains.
  • A lot of the writing about this place was paid for. Of twenty-four posts, five declare sponsorship or a tasting invitation — four with a tag at the end, one saying so in the text — and three state that they paid. The remaining sixteen say nothing at all. Some of those sixteen read like the sponsored ones: the room, then the parking, then the menu, then a verdict, with nothing that went wrong. We count only what is declared. But the reader should know why the praise here is so uniform. The complaints are countable on one hand: one writer found the spicy broth oddly flat; one states that no side dishes come with the meal, where five others describe spring-onion kimchi, pickled radish and water kimchi arriving as a matter of course; and one drove a lap of the block looking for the car park. The Michelin listing is not this restaurant's. Three posts describe it as a sibling brand of a Seoul restaurant that made the 2025 guide — and that restaurant, not this one, is the one listed. (One post says two years running, so even the count differs.)
  • Not one writer describes the lavatory from having seen it. The words 'separate men's and women's' appear once, lifted from Naver's facilities list. Where it is, whether it is inside the restaurant or out in the building, nobody says. On queueing we know almost nothing either. One writer says lunchtime fills up enough that there is a wait; another says she had heard as much but, arriving slightly off the hour, sat straight down. Nobody in these posts actually queued — no one gives a waiting time. Two advise leaving yourself some room around lunch.
  • The restaurant is at street level and the car park is on the second and third floors, so you come down to it. Only two writers say so in their own words: one sees the sign as they come down to the ground floor after parking, the other advises searching for the building by name because it puts you right by the ground-floor entrance. Twenty-three of the twenty-four posts contain the words 'Haengnim Building, ground floor', but in the rest it is the address line Naver's check-in card prints by itself. One post describes the way down — 'you can get there by the stairs, worth knowing if you have a pushchair.' Not one mentions a lift.
  • Almost nobody writes down how to get here without a car. Eleven posts tag it a 'Yeongtong Station restaurant' in the title or the hashtags, but that is a search term, not a direction. Four put a number on it and the four do not agree: two give 580m from exit 2 of Yeongtong Station — both inside a copied information block — one makes it two minutes from the station by car, and one ten minutes on foot from the station, three from the university gate. A single post mentions a bus, with no route and no stop: 'for anyone on public transport, the bus stop is close by.' Nobody writes about arriving by train or by taxi.
