Korean

Odeng Sikdang

오뎅식당 Odeng is the everyday Korean word for fish cake and sikdang means eatery; posts about the brand say it began in 1960 as a fish-cake stall in Uijeongbu, which is why fish cake still comes as a side dish.

A budae-jjigae (army stew) restaurant in the 9th-floor dining hall of Shinsegae Department Store Uijeongbu, which connects to Uijeongbu Station. It shares its name with Odeng Sikdang on Uijeongbu's stew street. We read 30 posts dated from October 30, 2025 to October 26, 2026, but only one, from October 2025, is about this department-store branch. The rest describe the original restaurant, its annex, or other places entirely, so we did not count them. That one post ordered the two-person set (33,000 won: stew for two, a mixed add-in plate and a drink) plus instant noodles (2,000 won). Staff pour broth into a wide pot, cover it, and come back to stir once it boils.

What sets it apart

  1. Staff handle the pot at your table. The one post says they add the broth, cover it and return to stir when it boils, so you just wait.
  2. The one post saw high chairs and points to the grilled sausages and hamburg steak as sides for children.
  3. The one post found the broth spicy and close to kimchi stew rather than greasy or bean-heavy.

Getting inside

In a basementyes 0 · no 1 (of 1 posts read)

We know only that it is on the 9th floor of a department store. No one described the entrance, steps, or wheelchair or stroller access. That means unknown, not absent.

No one said where the restroom is or whether it is separated by gender.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know

  • Only one post covers this branch. Everything here comes from that single visit around 4 p.m. in October 2025. Waiting lines, floor seating and parking lots described in posts about the original restaurant do not apply here.
  • Opening hours appear in only one post, copied from an info block: daily 11:00-21:00, last order 20:30. The monthly Monday closure is missing its number, so we can't say which Monday. It may follow the department store's closing days.
  • Prices come from one post only: 33,000 won for the two-person set and 2,000 won for noodles. The writer called it not cheap but fair for a department-store food hall. No one recorded single-portion or other set prices.
  • The phone number 031-8082-0921 appears only in one post's info block. No one said whether reservations are taken.
  • We don't know about waits. The one post found it quiet around 4 p.m. and fairly full on the way out. No one described lunch or dinner peaks.
  • The one post doesn't say who the writer went with, so we can't say whether it suits solo diners, families or friends. It only notes a one-person set makes solo meals possible.
