Gyeongwon Sikdang
경원식당 Sikdang simply means 'eatery'; the posts do not explain the name Gyeongwon, though one notes the building itself is called the Gyeongwon Building.

An army-stew (budaejjigae) restaurant on Dunya-ro 49beon-gil in Uijeongbu, opposite Uijeongbu Seo Elementary School. The stew is 12,000 won per person; kimchi stew (12,000 won) and fresh pork belly (16,000 won) are also on the menu. Staff ask how many you are, bring a pot already loaded with ingredients, pour in the stock, and you boil it at the table. Several posts said the heavy dose of kimchi makes it taste like kimchi stew with army-base ham; one noted there are no baked beans or cheese. We read 30 posts dated March 26 to October 26, 2026; 20 of them record an actual meal. The other 10 are six list or history posts that only mention the place and four posts about other restaurants.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- Food arrives almost at once. Five posts said the pot came without a wait. One recalls staff asking, before any menu was opened, whether two people wanted the stew for two with noodles, with pots pre-portioned by party size in the kitchen; another timed setup at under five minutes. Some posts add that staff come by to lift the lid once it boils.
- No post describes waiting in line. Six said they were seated straight away, at times given as a weekday 11:30, Saturday 11:00, Saturday 12:30, Sunday 12:30 and Saturday 6:30 pm. The weekday 11:30 visitor noted the ground floor was nearly full by noon, and the Saturday-evening post credited quick table turnover.
- Side dishes and rice are refilled from a self-serve bar, as eight posts noted. The usual sides are seasoned bean sprouts, stir-fried fish cake and radish kimchi plus a cold brine soup; one post adds that stock can be topped up. One diner who added noodles mid-meal found staff poured in extra stock that thinned the broth, and had to ask for more seasoning.
- Eight posts called the broth sharp or fiery and two said it was not spicy — a family whose two children ate it without complaint, and a self-described spice wimp. Two posts that compared it with nearby Odeng Sikdang both preferred Odeng, saying leeks lead the broth there and kimchi does here.
1 more
- Eleven posts said the base pot was generously filled. One family was about to order extra ham and sausage when staff suggested trying it first, and found it was enough. One post disagreed: a family gathering that also had pork belly ran short and added a mixed platter.

Parking

There is a small private lot beside the restaurant. Twelve posts mention parking there, and eight describe its size — about five spaces, six or seven, five or six, quite cramped. One found it full at 6:30 pm on a Saturday and another got the last space at night; when it is full, posts say to use the Baekseokcheon public car park five minutes' walk away, with parking support from the restaurant.

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside

|---|---|
| In a basement | yes 0 · no 1 (of 19 posts read) |
| Toilet inside | 1 of 19 posts |
| Separate restrooms | 1 of 19 posts |
No post says whether there is a step or stairs at the entrance or whether a wheelchair or stroller can get in. Three posts mention a second floor, but nobody says whether there is a lift. This means no one wrote about it, not that access is lacking.
Only one post covers the toilets: separate for men and women, the women's on the ground floor and the men's upstairs, both clean.
No one mentioned: Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 25 posts we gathered, 6 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
| 2026-10-25 | 2 posts in one day |

| 2026-10-21 | 2 posts in one day |
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Posts disagree on getting there by train: one says it is an easy 11-minute walk from Uijeongbu Station and another that it is close to Uijeongbu City Hall Station, while a third found the 15-minute walk from Uijeongbu Station exit 3 a bit far.
- On staff, one post found them friendly and one called them a little curt — one each.
- One early-September 2026 post said the air conditioning was off on a hot day; the writer stressed it was a single visit, and no other post mentions cooling.
- Thirteen posts give the same hours — 10:00 to 21:00, a 16:00–17:00 break, closed Tuesdays — though mostly in copied info boxes. Last orders are usually 15:30 for lunch and 20:30 at night; one post says 20:40, and one says 'daily' without mentioning the Tuesday closure.
- The stew stayed at 12,000 won per person from March to October 2026. Extra ham is listed at 7,000 won in an August post and 5,000 won in an October one. A September diary felt prices were creeping up and the add-ons shrinking but gave no figures. One post put a meal for two — stew for two plus noodles — at 25,000 won.
- Five posts give the phone number 0507-1420-5464 and two give 031-878-5464. Reservations appear only in copied info boxes; no post describes actually booking.
- Other places share the name. Hongi Budaejjigae on Uijeongbu's army-stew street is the former Gyeongwon Sikdang, renamed by the owners' son according to one post, which adds that the parents' Gyeongwon Sikdang is the one opposite the elementary school. One post checked in at a Gyeongwon Sikdang Uijeongbu Station branch. We counted neither. Mentions of the YouTube show and celebrity visits are hearsay and were not used as evidence.
