Daebanjeon Moran-jeom
대반전 모란점 A retro tavern by Moran market where one hot pot comes with a bottomless plate of nine kinds of savoury pancake, open from early afternoon until two or three in the morning.
Compiled from 14 blog posts read in fullSources →
Daebanjeon's Moran branch is a jeon house and drinking shop, a walk from exit 1 at Moran station toward the stadium. Inside, a pastiche of an eighties tavern: about ten round silver tables, customers' graffiti on the walls, and a tablet on each table to order from. The format is simple — pick one of four hot pots and the mixed savoury-pancake plate comes with it, refillable. Nine kinds of pancake to a plate, all fried after you order. Long makgeolli list; tofu with fried kimchi and pickled onion arrive free and can be refilled from a counter as often as you like. It opens early afternoon and runs until two or three in the morning, so people come both before and after everywhere else. It is a chain. The posts we read run from November 2024 to September 2026.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.

What sets it apart
- The free dish is what people here write about most. Tofu with fried kimchi, pickled onion, and soy for dipping — and a self-service counter to refill it from as often as you like. Four writers praise the free dish on its own terms: one bottle of makgeolli's worth, maybe two, before anything you paid for arrives. One refilled the tofu and dropped it into her hot pot. One found the tofu a little dry.
- The bottomless plate has rules, and a small party can lose on it. You cannot ask for one kind on repeat, you have to clear what you have first, and since everything is fried to order the next plate takes time. One writer puts a two-hour limit on it. The part worth knowing: a party of three asked for a refill and got about a third of the first plate — without it, he calculates, the set would not have paid for itself, and he advises ordering it only for four or more. Couples in these posts skip the set and order single dishes instead.
- You order from a tablet at the table — seven writers mention it. Two find it at odds with the deliberately old-fashioned room: one calls the pairing unbalanced, the other admits she had been bracing to call out to an auntie and was mildly thrown. Others simply like not having to.
- Write a receipt review and they hand you a rice ball to make yourself — rice, fried kimchi, seaweed, mayonnaise, rolled at the table. Four writers took it up and two clearly enjoyed the rolling as much as the eating. One quibble: red rice against a red chicken stew was too much of the same thing, and she would leave the kimchi out. A fried-rice version is mentioned once.

- The provenance board is on the wall, and two writers photographed it — one noting with relief that nothing on it came from China. The shop's own line is that it makes everything by hand, and one writer went and looked: she watched them frying the pancakes one at a time, and adds that the kitchen looked very hot.
- Opinions on value split exactly down the middle. Two call it generous — the refill, and four people fed for 54,000 won. Two say it is not actually cheap, and that the value proposition is murky. The split tracks the refill: four or more ordering a set and taking the refill do well; two or three do not.
- The round stools have no backs. A two-in-the-morning visitor puts it plainly: round table, round tablet, round stool, and her back hurt from the moment she sat down. There are sofa seats, but the one free that night had not been cleared, so she stayed on the stool. Another writer notes benches along both walls that you can lean against. If you plan to stay a while, look at the walls and the sofas first.

Parking
2 posts say you cannot park. None say you can.

Almost everything written about parking here is copied from the Naver listing — the sentence about two or three cars fitting in the narrow space to the right of the building recurs word for word, and one writer puts "Naver" directly beneath it. We have not counted those. Two writers looked for themselves, and both say no. One, scoring the place category by category, gave parking one out of five and the single word "none." The other: it is a street full of bars, parking is hard, people seem to leave cars at the kerb but she would not swear to it — and anyway, she adds, you came here to drink. For a place open until three in the morning, that is probably the whole answer.

Street level — and beyond that, nobody writes about floors at all. The registered address ends in "1st floor," and the posts copy it that way every time. Not one describes a second floor, a basement, or a staircase. Every account of the room stays on one level: ten or so round tables, benches along the walls, the sofa seats, the self-service counter at the back, the kitchen, the lavatory.
Nobody wrote about the doorway. Across all sixteen posts the words wheelchair, pushchair, ramp, step and threshold never appear. All we can say about the room is that it holds about ten round tables and some forty seats, packed fairly close. That is an absence of evidence, not an answer — if it matters, the shop is worth a phone call.
The lavatory is inside the shop, and it is unisex. Two writers place it indoors; one of them says she cares about this enough to have searched before going, found nothing online, and only learned on arrival — she had assumed it would be out in the building. The same writer is sorry it is not separated by sex. Whether there is an accessible cubicle or a baby-change table, nobody says.
No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 24 posts we gathered, 10 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Sixteen of twenty-seven. The largest block we set aside is one piece of copy that ran on six blogs between June and September 2025. The information box is identical down to the characters, and so are the phrases: ten minutes from exit 1 toward the stadium, round silver tables huddled together, a meat patty the size of a hamburger, and the spoonful of broth that draws an involuntary "wow." Four repeat their own headline three times before the first sentence. And the counting does not hold: seven pancakes listed as eight, eight listed as nine. One opens with a reunion of university friends last weekend and two paragraphs later says it was a weekday afternoon. Two of the six came from the same blog a week apart, almost word for word. None declares a sponsorship. Of the other five: two declare that they were given the meal and then name no dish and no price, praising the lunch menu and the natural beauty of a tavern that has neither; two are listings — one a top-ten of Moran bars stitched from the shops' own blurbs, one a straight scrape of the Naver listing, "363 visitors said the food was good" and all; one is a soldier's monthly diary in which this place gets the words "good pancakes here." Two further posts were dropped entirely: the word *daebanjeon* means "a great reversal," and it had caught an article about urban renewal in Yongin and a review of a pizzeria.
- You walk from exit 1 at Moran station, but the posts cannot agree how far. One says 356 metres, five or six minutes. Another says about a kilometre. Every post that says "ten minutes toward the stadium" is a copy of the same sentence from the batch we dropped. The one writer who describes walking it says only that it is close enough to the station to suit a date. What several do agree on is that it sits on the main lane of the eating-and-drinking quarter with a large sign — so take the direction and ignore the minutes.
- At weekends you wait, and one writer explains how: go inside and put your name in the notebook. She started outside, found it hot and thick with cigarette smoke, and moved in — and her closing advice is to arrive early, because there is not much room to wait in. Four others describe the room filling rather than queueing: quiet when they arrived, full by the time the second-round crowd came. One arrived at two in the morning and was surprised how many people were already there. Nobody records how long they waited.
- Ring before you go on a Sunday. A September 2025 writer says the listing shows it open daily but that she has sometimes had the impression it is shut on Sundays — so her friend phoned ahead to check before they went. Only one post, from November 2024, states that the shop never closes for a day; the other fifteen say nothing about it at all. The hours look changed twice rather than disputed: three posts from November 2024 to March 2025 say one in the afternoon to three in the morning; three from May to July 2025 say two to three; three from September to November 2025 say two to two; and the most recent, September 2026, says two to three again. Within each stretch, nobody disagrees. No mid-shift break and no last order appears anywhere in the sixteen.
- Nothing says whether the counter is self-service, and one writer spent the evening unsure. There is a sign asking you to take only what you will eat, but none saying to help yourself — so when she and her friend were the last table on a weekday evening, she felt too awkward to call the owner over and simply went and got more. Her post ends by asking any regulars reading to tell her: self-service or not? Four other writers describe refilling the tofu and kimchi freely, so the answer is yes — the shop just has not written it down.
- One post in our count declares a sponsorship — it says so in its first line. Five state that they paid their own way, one of them adding that the review is unsponsored and entirely his own opinion. The remaining ten say nothing either way, which is not the same as having paid. Two further posts, not in our count, also declare that they were given the meal; they are excluded because neither records eating anything.
