Yangju Galbitang

양주갈비탕 Yangju is the city it stands in and galbitang is beef short-rib soup, so the name just says Yangju short-rib soup.

Compiled from 21 blog posts read in fullSources →

Yangju Galbitang is a short-rib soup and braised-rib restaurant in the R6 shopping streets of Okjeong-dong, Yangju (51 Okjeongdong-ro 5na-gil, ground floor). The signature is a clear galbitang with big ribs and glass noodles; it also serves spicy galbitang, spicy braised ribs, seolleongtang, yukgaejang and beef-tartare bibimbap. Galbitang was 15,000 won in posts up to April 2026 and 16,000 won from July. You order on a tablet or kiosk at the table, and side dishes such as salad, japchae and kimchi arrive first. We read 29 posts from November 2025 to October 2026; 21 describe actually eating here. We set aside 8 that were really about other places (four on Sinbi Myeonok, plus Haneul Myeonok, Samyukoh Gamjatang, Kkamakgol Makguksu and the café next door).

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Seven posts got side dishes refilled, one saying the Caesar salad and japchae were refilled twice each. One wrote that staff go round the tables asking if anything is running low; another that the owner tops up dishes as soon as they look empty. No post mentions a self-serve bar. A salad keeps turning up among the sides, though posts describe it differently each time: Caesar, macaroni-corn, tomato and cheese.
  2. It is a small room: seven posts said it is not large, one said it is spacious. Two counted about seven four-person tables, and one suggested booking ahead for a group. Three said the tables are well spaced despite the size.
  3. Eight posts ordered on a tablet or kiosk at the table; one added that you pay on the way out.
  4. Nine posts mention a review-for-a-draw event with no losing tickets; two got snacks as fifth prize and one got a 2,000-won discount voucher as fourth.
4 more
  1. Seven posts saw high chairs, one placing them by the entrance. Two went with children, and one said the kids could eat the milder spicy braised ribs. The 'high chairs available' lines in copied info blocks were not counted.
  2. Ten posts called the portions generous and one said they were just enough for a meal. One counted seven or eight ribs in a two-person spicy braise.
  3. Eight posts found the spicy dishes (spicy galbitang, spicy braised ribs, yukgaejang) hot, several comparing them to Shin Ramyun. Two posts ordered the mildest braise: one said it was milder than expected and fine for kids, the other that it was still plenty hot.
  4. Five posts said there is no gamey smell, one noting the broth stayed clean even for someone sensitive to beefy odors. Seasoning is split: two found it salty (one of them because the braise reduced as it boiled), and two found it mild enough to add salt and pepper at the table.

Parking

12 posts say you can park. None say you cannot.

Posts saying you can park12 of 21 posts

There are only a few spaces out front. Twelve posts parked here, and two counted the front spaces at three to four and two to three. Several said overflow goes to the roadside opposite or nearby. On a weekend in March 2026 the front and shoulder were full and the owner let one writer use the café next door; a December 2025 weekend-lunch visitor waited for a spot to open. One post said there is no dedicated lot.

Getting inside

Toilet inside2 of 21 posts

We don't know the floor from experience: the address says ground floor, but no post described it.

We don't know about steps at the door or wheelchair and stroller access. That means nobody wrote about it, not that it is a problem.

Two posts said the toilet is inside the restaurant and clean; nobody said whether it is split by gender.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know

  • Prices went up. Posts from November 2025 to April 2026 list galbitang and spicy galbitang at 15,000 won; the four posts from July 2026 on say 16,000. Braised ribs were 22,000 won per person through May 2026, and an August post lists the spicy braise at 46,000 won (about 23,000 per person for two). On value, four posts called it reasonable and three hedged, as in 'I thought it was a bit pricey, but…'.
  • We know little about waiting. One post waited at a weekend lunch in December 2025 with more people queuing behind, one found no wait around 5:30 pm on a weekday, and one said they only just avoided a wait. Two mention a waiting area with seats inside.
  • We don't know about getting here by bus or subway. One post advised taking public transport because parking is tight and others guessed it is walkable, but nobody actually came by transit.
  • Sixteen posts give opening hours and all agree: 11:00 to 22:00, break 14:30 to 17:00, last order 21:00, closed Tuesdays. Most of these are copied info blocks, though. One post gave the closing day as major holidays.
  • Nine posts list the phone as 0507-1466-7897; one December 2025 post gives 031-867-7888. One post suggested booking ahead for groups, but nobody wrote about actually making a reservation.
  • One September 2026 post reads like a compilation of listing data and other people's reviews, so we only counted its account of being served galbitang. Four posts that use 'Yangju galbitang' as a search term are really about Sinbi Myeonok, including three with identical hashtag strings, and were not counted.
