WHY NOT?!

와이낫 Waianat Why not — the English phrase written in Hangul; the sign spells it WHY NOT?!

Compiled from 13 blog posts read in fullSources →

Why Not is a small Western restaurant on the ground floor of a building on Okjeongdong-ro 5na-gil, near the R6 blocks in Okjeong, Yangju. One owner-chef cooks and serves pasta, risotto, pizza and steak. A January 2026 menu listing puts aglio olio at 10,000 won, other pastas at 12,000 to 16,000 won and pizzas at 17,000 to 23,000 won; a June 2025 post gives 38,000 won for the New York strip. Eleven posts describe the long breadsticks served over soup once you order. We read 13 posts from November 2024 to September 2026, all of them first-hand visits.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. It is small. Five posts that counted tables give about four, four or five, and two two-tops plus two four-tops. Five posts also mention a terrace table beside the shop.
  2. Posts split two and two on speed. Two from May and August 2026 say food took a while because the owner handles the floor, kitchen and till alone (one was warned in advance); two from April and June 2025 say it came out quickly.
  3. No post calls it expensive; six say prices are reasonable. Four found portions generous, while one said they were a little small and suggested three dishes for two people.
  4. Eight posts call the owner kind and say why: a cushion and water for a dog, holding a birthday cake brought in and serving it after the meal, asking about spice level for children. Three posts mention hair ties, lap blankets and aprons set out for guests, and two a phone-charging spot.

  1. One post (November 2025) actually brought a dog. Many others repeat that pets are allowed, but mostly in copied info blocks, so we did not count those.

Parking

3 posts say you can park. None say you cannot.

Posts saying you can park3 of 13 posts

Three posts parked in front: one got a spot just as a car left, one said about two cars fit and it was no trouble, one always found space. A November 2024 post said the lot is tiny and you park nearby. The 'two spaces out front, park on the white line' line is mostly copied from the listing.

Getting inside

Toilet insideyes 0 · no 1 (of 13 posts read)

No post describes the floor from experience; only the address says ground floor. We don't know.

Nobody wrote about a step at the entrance or getting in with a wheelchair or stroller. That means we don't know, not that there is none.

One post (June 2025) says the toilet is outside the shop. No other post mentions it, and nobody says whether it is separated by gender.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know

  • No post describes getting there by subway or bus. We don't know.
  • Only one post mentions waiting: it walked in without a queue around 2:30 on a weekday afternoon. We don't know about peak meal times.
  • Three posts say the restaurant moved here from Sillim-dong in Seoul, but two heard it and one copied it from the listing, so we did not count it. Nothing changed at this address across the posts.
  • Eleven posts give the same hours, 11:00 to 22:00 with last order at 21:00 and closed Mondays, though most copy the listing. One November 2024 post wrote 11:00 to 21:00.
  • Most prices come from one January 2026 menu listing; we don't know whether they have changed since. No post gave a total bill.
  • Seven posts list the same phone number. Reservations appear only as 'available' in copied listings; no post booked ahead.
