Toenmaru Bibimjip

툇마루비빔집 A toenmaru is the narrow wooden veranda that runs along a traditional Korean house, and bibimjip means a bibimbap house; one post notes a wall inside is built to look like a toenmaru.

Toenmaru Bibimjip is a bibimbap restaurant run by an older couple, on the ground floor of the Sinunjeong Teunteun Plaza in Okjeong's central shopping district, Yangju. Most bibimbap costs 11,000 to 12,000 won (cockle bibimbap 14,000, abalone porridge 15,000), served in brass bowls; pork or bulgogi comes in a separate dish, alongside bean-sprout soup and kimchi. We read 15 posts from December 2024 to October 2026. We set aside 2 as they were about neighbouring shops, and did not count 2 more (a delivery, a one-line mention), leaving 11 actual visits.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Three posts said the couple were kind. One described the wife cooking and the husband taking orders and payment; another said they brought over their own geotjeori and young-radish kimchi mid-meal.
  2. Four posts were written by regulars; one went twice in a single week, and her husband orders the soybean-paste bibimbap every time.
  3. Four posts said the place is small. Three described the seating: four- and six-person tables plus solo seats; solo and four-plus tables; and one mentioned both floor seating and regular chairs. One noted a wall built to look like a traditional wooden veranda.
  4. Two posts were solo visits and two were family meals; the solo regular pointed out the single seats.
2 more
  1. Three posts said the food is not salty; one disagreed, finding the pork sauce stronger than elsewhere. One post found the octopus bibimbap quite spicy. The 'no MSG' line is the menu's own claim, so we did not count it.
  2. Three posts said portions are generous: plenty of cockles, a lot of food overall, and a hearty serving of pork.

Getting inside

In a basementyes 0 · no 2 (of 11 posts read)

Two visitors noted it is on the ground floor, easy to spot by its green awning and large sign.

We don't know whether there is a step at the entrance or whether a wheelchair or stroller fits; nobody wrote about it.

We don't know where the toilet is or whether it is separated by gender; nobody mentioned it.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 13 posts we gathered, 2 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • We don't know how to get there by train or bus; every post that mentioned getting there talked about driving.
  • No one reported waiting in line. One post said it was nearly full at lunch, and a regular said outside the lunch peak there is almost always a seat; whether you wait at peak is unknown.
  • Six posts give opening hours as 9:00 to 21:00, and four say it is closed on Sundays, all copied from listing info. Nobody mentioned a break time or last order.
  • Two posts list the phone number 031-858-2006; nobody said whether reservations are taken.
  • No post mentioned a price change: pork, bulgogi and soybean-paste bibimbap were 12,000 won in both August 2025 and 2026 posts. One post noted the cockle bibimbap is seasonal.
