Sinuiju Sundae-wa Jjukkumi Yangju Okjeong-jeom
신의주순대와쭈꾸미 양주옥정점 Sinuiju is a North Korean city on the Yalu River and the name of the Sinuiju Chapssal Sundae chain; this branch calls itself 'Sinuiju sundae and webfoot octopus' because the owner added stir-fried jjukkumi dishes to the chain's soup menu.

A Sinuiju Chapssal Sundae franchise that opened on April 8, 2026 in the Sinunjeong Teunteun Plaza in Okjeong's central shopping district, Yangju. It serves sundae soup (10,000 won regular, 12,000 won large) and the Sinuiju jeongsik (15,000 won), which adds a plate of boiled pork and sausages. The owner also added fire-stir-fried webfoot octopus dishes. You order on a tablet at the table and refill side dishes and rice from a self-serve bar. We read 30 posts dated June 2025 to October 2026. Only 7 of them, from April 30 to June 20, 2026, describe eating here. The rest are about other shops in the building, other branches of the chain, or head-office promotion.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- All seven posts went back to the self-serve bar for more side dishes or rice. The bar has chives, radish salad, cubed radish kimchi, green chillies, onion, salted shrimp and ssamjang, plus a separate rice cooker for extra rice. One post noted that every container had a lid on it.
- All seven posts said the bowls are packed with meat; one called it half meat, half rice. Another ordered the jeongsik and was too full to try the octopus.
- Four posts said the soup and boiled pork had no porky smell. None said otherwise.
- Five posts ate something spicy: the spicy sundae soup, the spicy jeongsik, the beef-and-cabbage soup, or the octopus. The plain soup also comes with chilli paste by default. Three posts say you can ask for it without, and one did so for a child.
5 more
- Three posts ordered on the tablet at each table. One noted that the screen also suggested adding salted shrimp and explained the review event.
- Six posts said the room or the tableware was clean; some added that the place had only just opened in April.
- Four posts said the owner was kind. In one she offered extra broth for a child; in another she brought chilled acorn-jelly soup on the house.
- Three posts saw high chairs. One went with a child and shared a bowl of soup ordered without chilli paste.
- Three posts mention a deal where writing a receipt review gets you a free drink or similar. One April 30 post also mentions an opening discount.

Parking

Three posts parked in the building's garage or said parking was easy. None of this restaurant's posts say how long it is free; the two-hour figure appears only in posts about other shops in the building, so we did not use it.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.
Getting inside
| In a basement | yes 0 · no 1 (of 7 posts read) |
|---|
One sponsored post says it is on the building's ground floor, so it is not in the basement. Nobody says whether there is a step at the door or whether they came in with a wheelchair or pushchair. That doesn't mean it is a problem, only that nobody wrote about it.
We don't know about the toilets. One post's copied info block says they are in the building and split by sex, but no one wrote about using them.
No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 11 posts we gathered, 4 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Most prices come from a menu board copied in one May 31, 2026 post. Two posts give 15,000 won for the jeongsik, while one says it is 4,000 won more than the soup, which would be 1,000 won less. The octopus bibimbap set was 16,000 won in an April 30 post and 17,000 won on May 31. We can't tell whether that was an opening discount or a price rise.
- Opening hours: all seven posts give 10:00 to 22:00, always in a copied info line. The closing day varies. The head office's April 2026 opening notice said no regular closing day; two late-May posts say every other Sunday; one June 12 post says Sundays. Only one post gives a 21:30 last order.
- We don't know how to get here by train or bus. One sponsored post calls it easy to reach by public transport but names no station or route; other posts only mention walking over from CGV Okjeong or Okjeong Lake Park.
- No one wrote about waiting for a table. That doesn't mean there is never a wait, only that nobody mentioned one. Every visit post is from the first three months after opening.
- Six posts give the same phone number, 031-928-6939. We don't know whether reservations are taken: one copied info block lists booking, but no one actually booked.
- In June 2025 a different shop called Sinuiju Chapssal Sundae Okjeong operated at Okjeong-ro 226, opening at 6 a.m. and closed Sundays. The head office's interview says the current owner opened this new shop at No. 218 after hearing that an existing Yangju branch was closing. We did not count that shop's posts here.
- Of the seven visit posts, one discloses sponsorship and one says the writer paid. The other five say nothing; two of them follow the same info-block-and-subheading template as commissioned posts, so we read their counts with caution.
