Seoldamjae Yangju-jeom

설담재 양주점 Seoldamjae is the coined name of a seolleongtang chain that, by the posts' account, began in 2004 in Changdong as Changdong Seolleongtang; this is its Yangju (Okjeong) branch.

The Yangju branch of Seoldamjae, a seolleongtang and gomtang chain, on the second floor of Dream Tower 1 in Okjeong's central shopping area. In 2026 posts seolleongtang and gomtang cost 11,000 won, yukgaejang 12,000 and galbitang 18,000; cabbage kimchi and radish kimchi sit on the table for you to help yourself and cut with scissors. There are also larger dishes such as a spicy rib hot pot (58,000 won for a medium). We read 10 posts from November 2024 to October 2026: 6 by people who went, 1 takeout eaten at home, and 3 franchise-recruitment pieces we set aside.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. One post described parking first-hand: about 7 spaces at ground level in Dream Tower 1, and a third-floor car park through the neighbouring gate when that fills. Three other posts listed free building parking in copied info blocks, which we did not count.
  2. Two posts noticed a board by the entrance and the till showing the rice milling date and the day the kimchi was made. One post read the posted country-of-origin labels.
  3. Five posts called the room clean. Two found it quiet, one on a Monday evening with only one other table. Four mentioned a friendly owner.

Getting inside

Lift to the floor2 of 6 posts

It is on the building's second floor. Three posts said so; two came up by elevator and walked round the corridor to find it, and one took the stairs right beside the ground-level car park and found it on the right.

We do not know about steps at the door or wheelchair and stroller access. Two posts used the elevator, but nobody described the shop entrance itself.

We do not know about the toilets. One post's copied info block says customers use the building's shared toilets; nobody described them first-hand.

No one mentioned: Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 7 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Portions divide opinion, one to two: one post found plenty of meat in the gomtang, one ordered the large gomtang and still found it light on meat, and one said a medium hot pot did not fill two people.
  • Prices have gone up: a November 2024 takeout post paid 20,000 won for two servings of seolleongtang, while 2026 posts list 11,000 won each. A February 2025 post said it had heard prices rose that month. One post found the meal not exactly cheap and another called it on the pricey side.
  • Opening hours have changed. Posts from November 2024 and February 2025 gave 10:00 to 22:00 daily (last order 21:30); three 2026 posts give 10:30 to 21:00 daily (last order 20:30). All were copied listings, and no post mentioned a closing day.
  • Two phone numbers appear: two posts gave 0507-1362-5271 and one October 2026 post 031-928-5271. One post phoned ahead for takeout, but nobody said whether tables can be reserved.
  • We do not know how to reach it by train or bus. One post said its spot in Okjeong's central shopping area makes it easy to get to, but nobody mentioned public transport.
  • We do not know about waiting. One post found it very busy, but nobody said they queued; that means no one wrote about it, not that there is never a wait.
  • Company is too thin to generalise: one post went with a daughter and one with a boyfriend, and none with friends or a group. Two posts noted high chairs.
