Obongjip Yangju Okjeong-jeom
오봉집 양주옥정점 Obong is the old everyday word for a serving tray — the house brings its side dishes out on a round tin tray, which is where the chain takes its name.
Compiled from 26 blog posts read in fullSources →
Obongjip's Yangju Okjeong branch sits in the M City building in Okjeong's central shopping district. It's a chain outlet for flame-seared octopus and bossam made from gabeuri-sal (pork shoulder cap). Side dishes come on a round tin tray (the 'obong'), and a self-serve bar lets you top up side dishes, soup and rice. Posts give the octopus at 14,000 won a person (12,000 won at lunch), the bossam set meal at 12,000 won (10,000 won at lunch), and the Obongjip Special at 59,000 won: octopus for two, a small bossam, and tray noodles or clam soup. We read 30 posts dated 16 Nov 2025 to 12 Oct 2026. In 26 of them the writer ate in the restaurant. We set aside 2 that were about other places or franchise news. Of the rest, 1 was a delivery meal eaten at home and 1 was a single entry in a list of local restaurants.

Rows without a count: 2 of 14 posts.
Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- Of the 26 posts written after a meal in the restaurant, 22 said they went back to the self-serve bar for more side dishes, soup or rice. One went back for a second bowl of seaweed soup. One refilled every side dish twice. One said a child went back again and again for the acorn jelly. Several posts said rice is unlimited at lunch and comes with a fried egg each. One post said that at dinner you pay for a bowl of rice and can then refill it. One mentioned a 5,000-won charge for leaving food uneaten.
- Seventeen of the 26 dine-in posts said the portions were large. The post that ordered the noodle-and-octopus pot said two portions looked like four. Two posts said a two-person octopus order came with two whole octopuses. Another said the Special was almost too much for two people.
- One post listed the four heat levels for the octopus: milder, standard, hot and 'hell'. Three posts said the food was spicy. A father and daughter who avoid heat found even the standard level a little hot. Another post said the standard noodle pot was slightly hotter than a spicy instant ramen. In contrast, one couple ordered hot, found it tame, and planned to try 'hell' next time.
- Twelve of the 26 dine-in posts called the room or the self-serve bar clean, and ten said the room is spacious. Several said the seating is mostly four-person tables, with a row along one side pushed together for groups. One said the kitchen is open to view. Three mentioned high chairs, and one of them counted three.

Parking
16 posts say you can park. None say you cannot.

Sixteen of the 26 dine-in posts said you can park. Several said parking is in the building's underground garage and the first two hours are free. Three said that when it is full, you can use the Okjeong Lake Park car park across the road. Three posts said they drove there themselves.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.
Getting inside
No post said from experience which floor the restaurant is on. The address says ground floor; the only thing described as underground is the car park.
No post said whether there is a step at the door or described going in with a wheelchair or pushchair. One post thought the aisles looked wide enough for a pushchair, but that was a guess, so we did not count it. This does not mean there are no barriers; nobody wrote about it.
No post said where the toilets are or whether they are separate for men and women.
No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 28 posts we gathered, 2 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- No post described arriving by subway or bus. Posts only place it near Okjeong Lake Park and the central shopping district, and every post that talks about getting there talks about parking.
- No post described actually waiting for a table. One writer went early to avoid a possible lunch queue. Another said there are days with a queue, but had booked and did not wait. Three posts said they booked ahead, and several said you can join the waitlist through the CatchTable app.
- Fourteen posts gave opening hours, and they all agree: 11:00 to 22:00, a break from 15:00 to 17:00, and closed on Tuesdays. Seven said there is no afternoon break at weekends. Most of these were copied from map listings rather than observed, and a few just say 'daily'.
- Prices differ between lunch and dinner. Posts from Nov 2025 to June 2026 consistently give the octopus as 14,000 won a person at dinner and 12,000 at lunch. They give the bossam set as 12,000 won, or 10,000 at lunch. Nine posts called it good value or reasonably priced. The Special is 59,000 won in store, but one delivery post from Sept 2026 paid 64,000 won, so the price of a meal depends on how you order.
- Six posts gave the same phone number, 031-866-5007, and said reservations and group bookings are taken.
- About a dozen posts from Nov 2025 to Apr 2026 repeat the same phrases. They say the kitchen makes three main side dishes by hand every day, describe the gabeuri-sal as creamy, mention the free lunchtime egg and rice, and call it a spot for work dinners and family gatherings. None says it was sponsored, but the wording looks like it came from the restaurant, so we treated those lines as copied text and did not count them. One July 2026 post says an acquaintance's brother had recently taken over the restaurant. That suggests a change of owner, but we do not know when it happened.
