Jinbok Sanghoe

진복상회 Sanghoe is an old word for a small trading shop or general store; the posts do not explain Jinbok.

Compiled from 14 blog posts read in fullSources →

A frozen-pork-belly grill on the ground floor of a strip of shops in Okjeong's R6 district, Yangju, serving one meat only. Nearly every post describes the 1970s-80s props: mother-of-pearl tables, old-fashioned pillows on the chairs, a payphone, videotapes, water poured from an orange-juice bottle. Pork is 13,000 won a portion (the same price in November 2024 and October 2025, the latter specifying 180 g), and staff add water dropwort and bracken to the grill partway through. Sides are soybean or kimchi stew (6,000 won), cold noodles or fried rice (3,500 won) and udon-style noodle soup. We read 15 posts dated 21 November 2024 to 20 April 2026; 14 describe an actual meal. Eight of them appeared within ten days, 21 November to 1 December 2024, with very similar wording and order.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Six posts said the pork had no off smell at all; none said it did.
  2. Four posts got side dishes refilled: one had the pink sausage topped up twice, another asked for the green-onion kimchi twice, and another was refilled without asking.
  3. Three posts said the rice came heaped high, and four found a fried egg hidden at the bottom of the bowl.
  4. Three posts mention an old rock-paper-scissors arcade machine by the entrance; one family played it on the way out.

  1. Two posts came with children. One hesitated because it looked like a bar until a staff member came out to say kids were welcome; the other got extra sausage for the kids.

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside

In a basementyes 0 · no 1 (of 14 posts read)

No post says whether there is a step at the door or whether a wheelchair or stroller can get in. One post places it on the ground floor.

No post says where the toilet is or whether it is separated by gender.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 15 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Two posts from October 2025 got free fish-cake soup; posts from November-December 2024 instead describe a cold bean-sprout soup. The posts don't tell us whether this was a permanent change or a seasonal one.
  • Opening hours have changed. Five posts from November 2024 to January 2025 (four of them copied info blocks) give 4:30-11 pm (11:30 on Fri-Sat), closed Sundays. Three posts from October 2025 on give 4:30 pm-midnight on weekdays with weekend opening from 12:30 or 1 pm (an April 2026 post says 4:30 pm-midnight every day), and none mentions a Sunday closure. Check before going.
  • Three posts list the phone number 0507-1498-0522; two give other numbers. The free noodles or fried rice for booking via Naver is the shop's own promotion as copied by one post; no post says they booked.
  • Only two posts give prices, and side-dish prices come from a single menu copied in November 2024. Three posts called it reasonably priced. No post says what a meal for two came to.
  • No post mentions waiting for a table. One found it full on a weekday evening, but that tells us nothing either way about queues.
  • No post explains how to get there by bus or subway; one gives the landmark of the fruit shop building opposite Gwangsu Yukhoe.
