Japanese

Himawari

히마와리 Himawari is Japanese for sunflower; the shop's own sign says it greets guests with the hope of a rising sun.

Compiled from 30 blog posts read in fullSources →

Himawari is a Japanese-style tonkatsu shop at unit 105, Dream Tower 2, in Okjeong's central shopping district in Yangju. A loin katsu set is 14,000 won, tenderloin 15,000 won, the three-item combination plates 15,500 to 16,500 won, and the udon, nabe and soba sets 13,000 to 16,000 won. You order on a tablet at each table, and while you wait you grind sesame in a small mortar and stir in the house sauce from a crock. Salad dressing is yuzu or sesame. One post put a meal for two dishes and a draft beer at 33,000 won. We read 30 posts dated 10 to 19 October 2026, and all 30 describe an actual meal.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Expect to wait at mealtimes. Six posts either waited or saw people waiting. One got in after about 20 minutes at a weekend lunch; another had two groups ahead but got seated first because a table for two opened up. Three posts said you can order while you wait, so the food arrives almost as soon as you sit down. One post went outside meal hours and walked straight in.
  2. The room is small. Sixteen posts called it compact, not roomy or cramped. Table counts were given as about six, six or seven, and five. One post disagreed, saying the tables were well spaced.
  3. Twelve posts ordered on the tablet or kiosk at the table, which also shows the country-of-origin labels and the review promotion.
  4. Twenty-four posts called the coating crisp and eleven called the meat juicy. Several noted the pink centre of the tenderloin, and two went out of their way to say it is not undercooked.
2 more
  1. Four posts said they will give you more cabbage salad or rice on request; one actually got a second round of salad, another mentions extra curry.
  2. The spicy seafood udon and the spicy nabe are genuinely hot: three posts said so, one comparing it unfavourably with Shin Ramyun for heat.

Parking

17 posts say you can park. None say you cannot.

Posts saying you can park17 of 30 posts

Seventeen posts parked in the building's garage without trouble, and nine of them said it is large and has plenty of room. You give your plate number to staff when paying to get the free time. Several contrasted it with how hard parking usually is around the Okjeong shops.

Getting inside

Toilet insideyes 0 · no 1 (of 30 posts read)
Separate restrooms1 of 30 posts

The shop is on the ground floor; three posts said this made it easy to find.

We don't know whether there is a step at the entrance or whether a wheelchair or stroller can get in. None of the 30 posts mentioned it, which is not the same as saying there is no access.

Only one post described the toilets: there are none inside the shop, but the building has separate men's and women's toilets, with a door code you get from staff.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know

  • No post arrived by bus or train. The line about a three-minute walk from the Okjeong central shopping stop appears only in copied info blocks.
  • The free parking period is disputed: four posts say two hours and four say three. The garage floors are also given variously as above-ground levels 3 to 7, levels 4 to 6, or from level 4, and one post says it parked underground.
  • Nineteen posts give the opening hours as 11:00 to 21:00, last order 20:55, no afternoon break, but all of it comes from copied info blocks. The only word on days off is a copied "no regular closing day".
  • Prices agree across the October 2026 posts, but one post warns that menu prices seem to have gone up by about 1,000 won each. We don't know when, or what they were before.
  • The phone number 0507-1362-0713 comes from copied info blocks. No post booked by phone; for the queue, posts used the CatchTable kiosk at the door.
  • Seven posts mention the receipt-review promotion (a free fish katsu, chicken katsu or drink). All 30 posts appeared within ten days using nearly the same title keywords and hashtags, and only two disclosed sponsorship or an invitation. Read them as a likely promotional batch.
  • Eight posts went with family, four with a spouse or partner, two with friends or a colleague, and one alone; the solo diner said staff pushed the four-seat table back together and told them to sit comfortably.
  • New dishes (chicken katsu, katsu curry and spicy nabe sets, katsudon) appeared between August and October 2026; a returning diner noticed them after two months away. The shop has not moved.
