Tonkatsu Gallery

돈까스갤러리 옥정점 Donkkaseu Gaelleori Okjeong-jeom Donkkaseu is the Korean word for tonkatsu, the breaded pork cutlet; one post reads the name as 'putting flavour on exhibit', and this is the Okjeong branch of a shop based in Uijeongbu.

Compiled from 23 blog posts read in fullSources →

Donkkaseu Gallery Okjeong is a Korean-style tonkatsu shop at Morning Plaza unit 103, 227 Okjeongseo-ro, Yangju, a branch of a shop in Uijeongbu that posts say opened in June or July 2026. Six dishes: pork cutlet 12,000 won; fish, chicken or red-garlic cutlet 13,000 won; mixed plates 14,000 won. Plates are huge, and most people pack the rest into a 500-won container themselves. We read 24 posts from 7 July to 16 October 2026, set aside one about the Uijeongbu original, and counted 23 — all from people who went, one of whom picked up a takeaway order and ate at home.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.

What sets it apart

  1. Expect to wait at lunch and on weekends. Twelve posts waited or saw a line outside; two were seated straight away. The waits people wrote down were 10, 10 and 40 minutes, and one post says it ran past 30 minutes in the opening month of July. There is no app — you write your name on a sheet by the door, and two posts say you add your order there so food comes quickly once you sit. One notes the sheet has no space for a phone number, so you have to stay nearby.
  2. The room is small: thirteen posts say so and one says it is roomy. Table counts range from five to eight (five four-seaters; four four-seaters plus two two-seaters; six), and three posts say tables are pushed together or split to fit the party. Three say tables sit close — one likened it to sharing a table with strangers. Only one post, from 15 August, describes generous spacing and sofa seats.
  3. Twenty-two posts say the portions are large. The pork cutlet comes as two big pieces; the mixed plate holds pork, chicken and fish. One party of three ordered two dishes and still took food home; another couple ordering two mixed plates were asked by staff whether that was too much. One post asked and was told there is no one-dish-per-person rule, and several advise groups to under-order.
  4. You pack your own leftovers. Twenty-one posts mention takeaway: the container is 500 won and extra sauce 1,000 won. Several reheated the rest in an air fryer the next day, and two advise packing only the pieces without sauce, which go soggy. One post phoned in a takeaway order and noted there seemed to be no delivery yet.

  1. There is parking, but it is tight. Seven posts parked or describe parking from experience. Three say the building's basement lot is small — around ten spaces by one count, 17 including compact spaces by another, and one says to assume it is full because there is no barrier — while one found plenty of room behind the building. One parked on the street behind; another says to use the side lane if the basement is full.
  2. Thickness depends on the dish. Two posts describe the pork cutlet as thin and pounded flat, Korean diner style; of the five that say 'thick', three mean the fish. Thirteen posts call the batter crisp.
  3. Seven posts found the red sauce spicy, one did not, and one said it was hot but tamed by the mayonnaise on top. One put it at or below Shin Ramyun; two compared it to buldak sauce.
  4. Nine posts saw high chairs. Two say staff brought separate children's cutlery, and one says that with no microwave, staff warmed baby food in a bowl of hot water.

Getting inside

In a basementyes 0 · no 2 (of 23 posts read)
Step-free access3 of 23 posts
Toilet insideyes 0 · no 1 (of 23 posts read)

It is on the ground floor: two posts say so, placing it in the Baskin-Robbins building next to Mega Coffee. No post mentions a basement or upstairs room.

Strollers get in: three posts brought one inside or saw families who had. One says the door opens outward so the stroller fit by the table; another says staff removed a chair to make room. One post, though, had its high chair set in the middle of the aisle for lack of space. Nobody mentioned a step at the entrance or coming in a wheelchair — we don't know, which is not the same as there being none.

Only one post mentions the toilet, saying it is outside the restaurant in the shared building. Separate men's and women's toilets appear only in copied listing info, which we did not count. We know very little about the toilets.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know

  • No one wrote about arriving by bus or subway. One post says it is in front of the LH Elif / Segwangsa bus stop, and one walked from home. How it works by public transport we don't know.
  • Opening hours have changed. Four July posts give 11:00–18:00, three from 5–15 August give 11:00–19:00, and eight from 26 August on give 11:00–20:00, six of them with a 15:00–17:00 weekday break (none on Saturdays). Every post that mentions it says closed Sundays; closure every other Wednesday appears from 4 August (one July post said the first and third Wednesdays). It also closes early when ingredients run out — one post found only fish left at 5 pm and the shop shut by 6, another hit sold-out dishes half an hour before closing — so several advise calling ahead in the evening.
  • No post records a price change over the period. Two give a bill: 28,500 won for two (both mixed plates plus a container) and 56,000 won for four adults and a baby. Nobody called it expensive; six say it is good value for the amount. Nine mention a free canned drink for a receipt review.
  • Seven posts list the phone number 0507-1367-5899, but none tried to book a table, so we don't know whether reservations are taken. Posts mention phoning to order takeaway or to check whether food is still left.
  • One post, from 9 July, was written by the owner of another Okjeong restaurant. It says the meal was self-paid and we counted it, but bear that in mind.
