Bokkeumdang Yangju Okjeong-jeom

보끔당 양주옥정점 Bokkeum is a playful spelling of bokkeum, the stir-braise in dakbokkeumtang, and dang means house — a house of braised chicken; the chain is the second brand of the company behind Dongdaemun Yeopgi Tteokbokki.

Bokkeumdang Yangju Okjeong is a chain shop for chicken braise (dakbokkeumtang) and braised chicken (jjimdak) on the second floor of the Poly Plaza 3 building in Okjeong's central shopping district. The shop's own blog announced it as the chain's 15th branch on 24 December 2025. We read 21 posts dated 24 December 2025 to 20 October 2026: 15 from people who ate in, 3 delivery posts or shop notices, and 3 about other places. On the October 2026 menu, chicken braise is 27,000 won (29,000 boneless), the aged-kimchi version 30,000, dakhanmari 25,000 and the jjimdak 29,000–33,000. From 11:00 to 15:00 daily, dine-in single clay pots with rice are 9,000 won, or 12,000 with aged kimchi. The big pots arrive with the chicken already cooked, and you simmer them on a tabletop burner for another three to five minutes until the rice cakes and vegetables are done. Rice is 1,000 won extra.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Food takes a while. Four posts said so, and the two that timed it wrote about 20 minutes and 10 to 15 minutes. Another warned it can take longer when lunch or delivery orders pile up. The line that each order is pressure-cooked on the spot is the shop's own description, repeated by bloggers.
  2. Three side dishes come to the table at the start — bean-sprout soup, pickled radish and pickled onion — and refills are from a self-serve bar; ten posts described this. Two missed having kimchi, and one got some of the aged kimchi used for rice bowls by asking the staff.
  3. Six posts said the portions are large. Three were surprised by the amount of flat glass noodles added to the pot, and one reckoned a single soy-and-shishito jjimdak would feed three adults with a bowl of rice each.
  4. Four posts saw a child's high chair; one counted a single chair by the entrance. One family that ate the level-1 aged-kimchi braise said their kimchi-eating children didn't find it too hot.

  1. Of the seven posts that said who they came with, six came with family (three with a husband, one each with a sibling, a sister and children) and one ate the lunch special alone.

Parking

Posts saying you can park5 of 14 posts

Parking is in the building's basement garage; you ask for it to be registered when you pay — five posts said so. Two found the garage roomy and the straight ramp easy for a nervous driver. Nobody said how many free hours you get.

Getting inside

In a basementyes 0 · no 6 (of 14 posts read)
Lift to the floor2 of 14 posts

The shop is upstairs: six posts put it on the second floor, two of them going up by elevator (one says it is immediately to the right as you step out).

Nobody said whether there is a step at the door or whether a wheelchair or stroller gets in; two posts only mention taking the elevator up. That means we don't know, not that there's a problem.

No post says whether the restroom is inside the shop or separated by gender.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 17 posts we gathered, 3 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Heat is a split verdict: four posts found it spicy, two mild. They chose different levels — one level-2 diner felt dizzy, while level-1 diners compared it to Shin Ramyun or called it faintly sweet. Posts even disagree on whether there are two levels or three.
  • Posts split two to two on size: two called it roomy with well-spaced tables, two called it small enough to take in at a glance. Two noted the tables are mostly four-seaters.
  • Two posts disagree on the kitchen: one says it is not open to view, the other looked into it on the way out.
  • Six posts from 20 February to 15 March 2026 paid or noted 27,000 won instead of 30,000 for the aged-kimchi braise, one calling it the dish of the month. Later posts don't mention it and the October 2026 menu lists 30,000 won; we don't know whether the discount has ended.
  • The lunch special's regular price is given three ways: 13,000 and 16,000 won in the opening notice, 11,000 and 14,000 in a December 2025 post, and 12,000 and 15,000 in an April 2026 post. Every post agrees on the discounted 9,000 and 12,000.
  • Posts up to March 2026 list rosé, tomato-meat, spicy scorched-rice and soy-shishito jjimdak; from June, mala and Toowoomba versions appear, which an October post calls new.
  • Nobody described getting there by bus or subway. The one remark about easy access meant it sits in the middle of the shopping district; posts place it opposite the CGV, in the building with Waffle University.
  • No one wrote about queuing. One weekend visit before lunch was relaxed; two posts found it nearly full around noon on a weekday and around 6 p.m., but didn't say whether anyone had to wait.
  • Nine posts give the same opening hours, 11:00 to 23:00. Six give a 15:00–16:00 break; one October 2026 post says 15:00–17:00. Three give last orders at 22:30. Most of this is copied from the shop's listing, and no post mentions a closing day.
  • Seven posts list the phone number 0507-1436-1620; none says whether the shop takes reservations.
  • The same talking points recur across posts: Yeopgi Tteokbokki's second brand, domestic chicken pressure-cooked to order, delivery and takeout discounts, a free rice or drink for a receipt review. These repeat the shop's own messaging, so we didn't count them. One post disclosed support, and the author of the 27 December 2025 post describes themselves as a Yeopgi Tteokbokki brand supporter.
