Bobae Banjeom Yangju Okjeong-jeom

보배반점 양주옥정점 Bobae means treasure and banjeom is the old Korean word for a Chinese restaurant; this is the Yangju Okjeong branch of a nationwide Chinese-food chain.

Compiled from 6 blog posts read in fullSources →

A branch of the Bobae Banjeom Chinese-food chain on the ground floor of Bujaro Tower in Okjeong's central shopping district. People come for black-bean noodles, jjamppong, cream jjamppong and mini sweet-and-sour pork; an April 2026 menu photo lists jjajangmyeon at 7,500 won, seafood jjamppong at 12,000, cream jjamppong at 13,000 and mini tangsuyuk at 13,000. We read 16 posts dated 17 November 2025 to 18 October 2026: five were about other places or brand-wide news and were set aside, five were delivery, takeaway or promotional posts we did not count as visits, and six describe eating in.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Five of the six visitors described a self-service bar: pickled radish, onion, black-bean paste and zhacai are help-yourself, and all five noted that rice is free. One suggested taking rice from the bar's cooker to finish the jjamppong broth; another didn't know about the bar at first and ended up scrambling for sides after the food arrived. One also mentioned a coffee machine with free americano next to it.
  2. Of the five visitors who talked about portions, four said they were large: one compared a large jjajangmyeon to a washbasin, a pair found a cream jjamppong and a garlic kkanpunggi plenty, and another took leftover mini tangsuyuk home. One visitor disagreed, finding the jjamppong noodles on the small side.
  3. Jjamppong and spicy jjajangmyeon come in heat levels; one post lists three, from a gentle level 1 to an overwhelming level 3, with a 1,000-won surcharge. Two visitors called their food hot: one had seafood jjamppong at level 3, another had the spicy jjajangmyeon one step below the top and found it hotter than expected. Cream jjamppong has no heat choice.

Getting inside

In a basementyes 0 · no 1 (of 6 posts read)

One visitor said the restaurant is on the ground floor and the entrance was easy to find; other posts only carry the ground-floor address.

Nobody said whether there is a step at the entrance or whether a wheelchair or pushchair gets in. That is unknown, not a no.

Nobody described where the toilets are. Separate men's and women's toilets appear only in one copied info block.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 11 posts we gathered, 5 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Prices come from just two posts: an April 2026 menu photo and an August 2026 visit. Cream jjamppong was 13,000 won in April and 14,000 in August, so it may have gone up in between. One visitor said a bowl of jjajangmyeon fills you for under 10,000 won; jjamppong dishes run 12,000 to 14,000 won. Nobody recorded prices after August 2026.
  • No post describes getting there by bus or rail; one visitor mentioned driving.
  • No one reported waiting for a table, though three visitors found it busy: a steady flow even at opening, more people than expected, a full room at dinner. That means nobody wrote about a wait, not that there isn't one.
  • Two visitors went with family (a parent and child each) and one with a friend. Nobody wrote about going alone or in a big group, though one noticed two single seats and a diner eating alone.
  • Five posts give opening hours of 11:00 to 22:00 daily, three with last orders at 21:30, but all five are copied info blocks. No post mentions a closing day or break time.
  • Five posts give the phone number 031-894-5558. Reservations appear as available only in two copied info blocks; nobody wrote about actually booking by phone.
  • An April 2026 business-broker post advertised this branch for sale at a 400-million-won premium. No post says whether the owner actually changed, and visit posts continue after April.
