Agape Kalguksu

아가페 칼국수 Agape is the Greek word for selfless, unconditional love; kalguksu is Korean knife-cut noodle soup.

Compiled from 8 blog posts read in fullSources →

A kalguksu, sujebi and dumpling shop on the second floor (unit 203) of Poly Plaza 1 in Okjeong's central shopping strip, Yangju. We read 10 posts from November 2024 to October 2026; 8 describe an actual visit. All eight ordered eolkeun haemul sumani, a spicy seafood broth with hand-torn dough and dumplings. On the October 2026 menu, seafood kalguksu is 10,000 won and the sumani 12,000 won, with a two-serving minimum for the sumani and the noodle-dumpling combo. Before the soup arrives you get a bowl of barley rice and three kinds of kimchi, which people mixed with gochujang and sesame oil. A separate branch of the same name operates in Deokjeong-dong; three posts said they had gone there first.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. All eight visit posts called the sumani spicy. It comes topped with chopped chili; one post found it far hotter than expected, and another suggested asking them to hold some of the chili when ordering. One post pointed spice-averse diners to the clear seafood kalguksu.
  2. Four posts helped themselves to more kimchi from a self-serve corner (cabbage, radish and young-radish kimchi), with a sign asking you to take only what you'll eat. Two posts noted the barley rice is not self-serve.
  3. Three posts noted a two-serving minimum on the sumani (and the noodle-dumpling combo). An October 2026 post said the menu also asks for one dish per person, children excepted. Solo diners can't order the sumani.
  4. Two posts said portions are large; one decided on sight not to order extra dumplings.

Parking

1 posts say you can park. None say you cannot.

Posts saying you can park1 of 8 posts

Only one post describes parking: Poly Plaza 1 and 2 are adjoining, they pulled into 2 by mistake and had to move — go to Plaza 1. Three other posts copy a 'parking available / basement garage' line, which we don't count. Nobody mentioned fees or free time.

Getting inside

Second floor4 of 8 posts
Lift to the floor1 of 8 posts

Four posts put it on the building's second floor, and one said it's on the left as you step off the elevator. It sits down an inner corridor of the mall; one post said to look for unit 203 on the door.

Nobody said whether there is a step at the entrance or whether a wheelchair or stroller gets in. One post only mentions taking the elevator to the second floor.

Nobody mentioned the restroom — whether it's inside the shop or separated by gender.

No one mentioned: In a basement · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 9 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Prices have gone up. Posts from November 2024 to November 2025 list the sumani at 11,000 won and seafood kalguksu at 9,000 won; the October 2026 post lists 12,000 and 10,000. Extra barley rice went from 2,000 won (November 2024) to 3,000 won (from October 2025). The October 2026 writer said about 12,000 won a head felt reasonable.
  • Two posts went with a husband, one with two friends, and one on a work lunch. No one went alone — the two-serving rule may be why, though no post says so.
  • One post found the side dishes salty overall — the owner said so too. Others only praised the kimchi.
  • Seven posts list opening hours, mostly copied from an info box. Six give 11:00–20:00; one from February 2025 says 11:20. Five give last orders at 19:30, and six say closed Sundays. The October 2026 writer saw 11:00 to 20:00 on the door sticker. Nobody mentioned a mid-afternoon break.
  • Three posts give the phone number 031-866-6668. One writer phoned ahead and found the table already set on arrival. No post says outright whether reservations are taken.
  • No post describes waiting. One said you 'have to wait at lunchtime', but as hearsay, not their own experience. That means nobody reported it, not that there is no wait.
  • No post describes getting there by subway or bus. One went by car; the rest only place it in Okjeong's central shopping strip.
