Oneul Doma Sundaeguk

오늘도마순대국 Today's Chopping Board — pork and offal soup, with the just-boiled head meat carried out on a wooden board

Data as of · Published ·

Oneul Doma Sundaeguk is a pork-and-offal soup house on the ground floor beside the arts centre on Nahyeseok Street in Ingye-dong, Suwon. Whole pig's heads come in raw and are boiled four times a day, and the times are painted on the sign — 11:00, 12:30, 17:00 and 19:00. Fourteen of the twenty-four people who ate here ordered the set that puts that meat on a wooden board next to the soup: ₩12,000, two thousand more than the bowl on its own. The broth is left clear and white unless you ask for the red version. There is a second shop of the same name in another part of Suwon, so go by the address. The posts we read run from July 2025 to September 2026.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

These hours are counted from the posts we read. Shops change them without notice — check Naver Place before you go. Place — check hours

What sets it apart

  1. Sixteen posts repeat the same four times — eleven, half past twelve, five and seven — because the shop paints them on its sign. Four writers did more than copy them: they timed their visit, and say so. One, arriving in the middle of the afternoon instead, found the set sold out and ate the plain bowl. Another says you can smell the boiling from down the street at those hours. If the meat is what you came for, go by the clock.
  2. Nobody calls it expensive. All fourteen posts that discuss money say the opposite, and nearly all of them point at the same thing: two thousand won more gets you the pork. The phrase turns up in eight of them. One writer compares it to the buckwheat-noodle places that charge over ten thousand for a plate of the same. The prices themselves are not low — ten thousand for the bowl is the going rate, and the sharing platters run to ₩34,000 — what they mean is cheap for the amount.
  3. Twenty posts raise the question of the pork smell and eighteen say there is none — it is the thing people choose a soup house by, so almost everyone writes a line about it. Two disagree. One says it is not that there is no smell at all, only that he did not mind it, and warns that the boiling carries from the kitchen into the room; the other lists it as the one drawback. Eighteen to two, but the two are not imagining it: this is a kitchen boiling whole heads four times a day, on the other side of the same room.
  4. Seven posts mention the hovenia tea. A pot of it stands warm outside the door, for people waiting and for people leaving, and the writers are charmed out of proportion to the thing itself. One adds that there are sweets inside too. Nobody reports being charged for either.
  5. Sixteen posts describe the help-yourself bar. The basic dishes come to the table and everything after that you fetch: cabbage kimchi, radish kimchi, dressed chives, onion, garlic, green chilli. Five of them single out the chives, dressed sharp and sour. One notes with some feeling that nobody watches how much you take. Two mention aprons, wipes, ladles and scissors there as well, and one that the chives are only at the bar, not in the first round.
  6. Eight writers say they have been back, and four count the visits: a fourth trip, two or three, an unspecified nth, and one who reckons she ate lunch here at least ten times when she worked nearby. One compares this visit with the last one — the radish kimchi was underripe then — and another mentions having come when it opened in the morning, which is itself a record of the hours changing. Five more say only that they intend to return.
  7. Six writers give the walk from Suwon City Hall station — five minutes from exit 10, and one puts it at 393 metres. The shop sits between Nahyeseok Street and Hyowon Park, next door to the arts centre, and two people ate here around a performance. Nobody describes the place as hard to reach without a car.
  8. Five posts are about the television and the autographs. Four mention a mukbang YouTuber and a broadcast; two of those describe the signed boards on the wall as something they saw while sitting there, and one writer clearly only found out on the spot. Only one post names the programme, and we have not verified it.

These are raw counts, not percentages. Someone who did not mention something is not someone who disagreed.

The most ordered dish is doma suyuk jeongsik (방금 삶은 도마수육정식) — 14 of 24 posts.

The prices here are what bloggers wrote down in their posts, and they may have changed since. Check Naver Place for the current menu and prices. This list is not a menu board — it counts what bloggers actually ordered and ate. Check on Naver Place

Parking

3 posts say you can park; 3 say you cannot. We leave the disagreement standing rather than picking a side.

Posts saying you can park3 of 24 posts
Posts saying you cannot3 of 24 posts

The posts flatly contradict each other on parking: three parked, three say there is none. The three who parked found a lot behind the building — one of them adding that it was not roomy. The three who did not say there is no lot of the shop's own, and that you end up on the verge, in a public car park, or at the arts centre next door, which does not validate. Read together it looks like a handful of spaces behind the building that fill, but we have not confirmed that. Four further posts carry the words 'parking available' copied from a listing, with nothing to suggest the writer ever arrived by car, so we have not counted them. If you are driving, budget for the arts centre car park.

Getting there

Getting inside

Second flooryes 0 · no 2 (of 24 posts read)

Street level, no stairs up or down. Two posts say so in as many words, and the registered address gives the ground floor. Two others mention the sign — white, and bright enough to find.

Not one post says anything about the step at the door. We know it is at street level, that you push a door and walk in, and that eight people found the tables well spaced — but nobody records whether there is a lip at the entrance, whether a wheelchair or a pushchair gets through, or which way the door swings. The one thing we can add is that side dishes are fetched from a bar, so somebody has to get up. If you are coming with a chair or a pram, ring first.

Nobody has seen the toilet. Two posts of twenty-four mention one, and both are reproducing the same boilerplate line of facilities from the map listing — booking, separate toilets, wi-fi, takeaway, groups, parking. Neither writer gives any sign of having used it. So we do not know whether it is inside or out, shared or separate, or on what floor. That is not the same as saying there is none: it means not one person wrote about it.

No one mentioned: In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know

  • They disagree about queueing too — two waited, two did not. Both who waited went at weekday lunch; one advises arriving between 11:30 and 11:40, the other says the room turns over fast enough that it hardly matters. Those who did not wait went at the evening commute, and one regular says that while the place is full most days he has rarely had to stand. There is no booking app; one post notes a sheet of paper by the door to write your name on when there is a line. The tea outside is for exactly this.
  • The hours have moved three times in a year, so trust the most recent post, not ours. July 2025 says around the clock. From December 2025 to March 2026, nine posts give exactly the same thing: ten in the morning until ten to midnight, closed between three and four. Then a May 2026 post says five in the morning until two the next, and three posts from August and September say eight until two, last orders at half past one. This reads as change rather than disagreement, but we could not confirm what holds today. The afternoon break appears only in the posts up to March. Exactly one post names a closing day, and the same post also says the shop opens every day, so we would not rely on it; the other twenty-three name none.
  • There is another shop of the same name elsewhere in Suwon, and this page is only about the one in Ingye-dong. The Gosaek branch keeps different hours and different prices — ten to ten with an afternoon break, and a few thousand won more on the sharing platters — and its customers write about a wide private car park and a robot that brings the food out. Not one of the twenty-four posts about this shop mentions a robot. We removed two Gosaek posts from the count here. Two writers call the Ingye-dong shop the original.
  • One post of twenty-four declares a sponsorship — a February 2026 piece that says so in the middle of the body. Eleven state they paid, twelve say nothing either way. The sponsored post is not notably kinder than the rest; on price and on the pork smell it says what everyone else says. We did not, however, count the line of facilities it reproduces from the map listing.
