Fun Beer King's Gwonseon Lotte Mart branch is a neighbourhood beer hall on the ground floor of a shopping block across from an apartment estate in Suwon. It is one outlet of a nationwide chain, serving fried chicken and puff-pastry pizza with draught beer. Almost everyone orders a half-and-half: two chickens split across one plate, or half a chicken beside a bowl of whelks and noodles. Four in the afternoon until half past one in the morning, closed Mondays — though until the end of 2025 it closed Wednesdays instead. Popcorn, made on the premises, arrives free when you sit down, and there are big screens on both walls, so match nights fill the room. The posts we read run from May 2025 to April 2026.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.

What sets it apart
- Popcorn arrives when you sit down, and twenty-three writers mention it — the single thing most of them agree on. It is free with the table, and it does not come out of a bag: there is a machine on the premises and it is popped there, which two of them watched. Three say a refill came when the bowl emptied, two of those without asking. Four confess to finishing it before the food arrived.
- A big screen on each side wall. Sixteen writers note them and eight of those talk about sport — football, baseball, the World Cup. One explains why there are two: "one on each side, so you never have to turn round." One adds that match nights are always full, so pick your evening if you came to talk. On quieter nights, three say, it is music videos instead.
- There are tables outside, but they come and go with the season. Three writers mention them and all three hedge. One, in May 2025, says you can eat outside when the weather is good but it was too cold that night. One, in March 2026, says the outside tables will be good once it warms up. One, in January 2026, passes on what the owner told her: they put the yard out in summer. Nobody records actually eating outside. The "#Suwon beer garden" tag on several posts is a tag, not a report.
- Nine writers go out of their way to mention the staff, and all nine are warm. Not one is otherwise. What prompted it differs each time — being greeted at the door, the popcorn bowl being topped up unasked, an unprompted "shall I bring you more salad?", a highball picked out for them. One explains exactly why the unasked refill mattered: "it's oddly hard to ask for a second bowl of the free stuff, and she offered first."
- Not one writer calls it expensive; nine call it cheap. Two make an actual comparison — one that a whole chicken locally runs to the high twenty-thousands while this is low twenties, and one, more usefully, against another branch of the same chain: "the portion there was small; here it was big." Seven say the portions are generous and none say otherwise. But only seven of the ten dishes have a price at all, and mostly from a single post, so the half-and-half set is the only thing whose price we can actually track over time.
- A large tree goes up by the door at the end of the year. Four posts written between late December 2025 and early January 2026 mention it, and two of them used it to find the place ("there's a huge tree at the entrance, you can't miss it"). From February 2026 the tree disappears from the writing — it is not a landmark you can count on out of season.

Parking
4 posts say you can park; 5 say you cannot. We leave the disagreement standing rather than picking a side.
| Posts saying you can park | 4 of 29 posts |

| Posts saying you cannot | 5 of 29 posts |
The posts contradict each other outright on parking, so do not trust this line if you are driving. Five say there is none — no lot, no support, only a cramped alley. Four say there is, one of them describing a basement car park in the building. But of the three writers who actually parked, not one parked at the restaurant: one used the kerb opposite, one the Lotte Mart, one simply "nearby". Another says that in the evening everyone leaves cars on the road outside and that she has never seen a ticket written. We cannot tell you whether the place has parking of its own.

Getting there

Getting inside
| Second floor | yes 0 · no 1 (of 29 posts read) |
|---|---|
| Toilet inside | yes 0 · no 3 (of 29 posts read) |
| Separate restrooms | 2 of 29 posts |
It is on the ground floor — though only one writer says so in her own words ("ground floor of the block right across from the apartments, easy to find"). The "1F" that appears in every other post is part of the address, so we did not count it. Not one post mentions a lift or a flight of stairs. The people who describe finding it point at other things: three at the sign being large enough to spot from a distance, two at the big Christmas tree by the door. Two writers expected it to be inside the Lotte Mart and were surprised it was not — read the supermarket in the name as "behind", not "inside".
Nobody writes about getting in with a wheelchair or a pushchair. Across twenty-nine posts the words ramp, threshold and step never appear. It is on the ground floor of a shopping block, so it does not look like a stairs place — but not one person looked at the doorway. We know the toilet is out in the building and that one of them needs a key, but nobody describes the route to it either.
There is no toilet inside; you use the building's. Of twenty-nine writers, three say so from having gone. One reports going in at the right-hand side of the building and finding it cleaner than expected; one notes it is split by sex but outside the bar; one adds that the women's needs a key and the men's a keypad code. Two other posts carry the line "separate men's and women's", but both are part of a block lifted from the Naver listing, so those writers did not see it. How many stalls, how far the walk — we do not know.
No one mentioned: In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know
- The closing day changed, so an old post will send you on a wasted trip. Every one of the six posts written between June and 29 December 2025 says it shuts on Wednesdays; every one of the seventeen written from 31 December onward says Mondays. No single post names both days, so this is the shop changing rather than people disagreeing. Closing time moves the same way, from two in the morning to half past one. Three posts from 2026 do say it never closes — but one of those also says Mondays, contradicting itself, so we read them as copied from a stale listing and left them out. Nobody says why it changed, or whether it will change again.
- You can get here by subway. Seven posts put it eight to thirteen minutes on foot from exit 2 at Maetan-Gwonseon; the two that give a distance agree on about 575 metres. Of those seven, exactly one says she actually walked it (and that it was freezing). The rest are copying the number. The place shuts at half past one in the morning, and not a single post says how anyone got home at that hour — no last train, no taxi, nothing.
- Only two posts speak to queueing at all. One says the room is always full on match nights; the other writes "booking essential — phone ahead" and did book. Nobody else mentions waiting or not waiting. What five of them do say is what they saw after sitting down — nearly every table taken on a weekday evening, two tables left at nine, the room filling up. It is plainly a busy place, but whether a queue forms is something we cannot tell you.
- Four writers disclose that the meal was free — two with a bare "#sponsored" tag, one saying they were given a gift voucher, one saying they were given a meal voucher but paid for part of it themselves. The other twenty-five say nothing about who paid. Separately, five posts carry the same five hashtags in the same order, down to the character; we kept all five, because their bodies are plainly different and each ordered something different — but it is worth knowing that some of the wording may come from one source.
