GOLDEN TREE

골든트리 Goldeun Teuri Golden Tree — one visitor notes the big tree at the centre of the lawn is a Korean fir, and that Geumdae-ri, where the cafe stands, was once a gold-panning spot.

Compiled from 27 blog posts read in fullSources →

A three-storey riverside cafe on Bukhangang-byeon-ro in Gapyeong, about a 15-minute drive from Nami and Jaraseom islands. You order on the ground floor and sit indoors, on the ground- or second-floor terrace, or on the lawn that runs down to the Bukhan River. Prices are high — 10,000 won for an americano, 13,000 for the signature Golden Cream Latte — and people pair drinks with salt bread, scones or Basque cheesecake. We read 30 posts from 20 November 2025 to 21 October 2026, 29 of them from October 2026; 27 describe an actual visit.

Rows without a count: 10 of 15 posts.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Price is the most common complaint: seventeen posts call it expensive. Of seven posts giving an americano price, six say 10,000 won and one says 9,000 — one writer compares it to a bowl of gukbap. Golden Nuts Latte is 12,000 won, strawberry yogurt smoothie 13,000, Basque cheesecake 8,000, chocolate-chip scone 6,500. Most shrug it off as paying for the view. One post got a discount by showing a Jaraseom flower-festival ticket (September 2026 visit).
  2. Eight posts mention a ground-floor group room (the Frame Lounge). One says it takes bookings for seven or more with a 100,000-won minimum; another, from November 2025, says the owner moved their party of seven adults and a toddler into it when it was free.
  3. Three posts note that each adult must order a drink. One explains you put pastries on a plate yourself and hand it to the counter, and they bring it with the drinks.
  4. Thirteen posts mention a bear-shaped madeleine given for a Naver review, in both November 2025 and October 2026. One says each person who writes a review gets one.

Posts saying you can park16 of 27 posts

Sixteen posts found parking easy. Posts mention two lots, and five mention staff directing cars. But one post arriving at 3 p.m. on a public holiday found the front lot full and used the lower one, and another also had to drive down past a full front lot.

Getting inside

Second floor21 of 27 posts
In a basementyes 0 · no 4 (of 27 posts read)
Toilet inside2 of 27 posts

You order downstairs and sit upstairs: twenty-one posts sat on or toured the second floor. It has its own terrace, and some posts mention a third-floor gallery of paintings. One calls the second floor much quieter than the first; another says the second and third floors blur into each other. Two posts say you climb stairs; nobody mentions a lift.

No visitor describes the entrance step or going in with a wheelchair or pushchair. Two posts copy a 'wheelchair-accessible entrance' line from the listing, which we don't count. Two say the upper floors are reached by stairs; whether there is a lift, we don't know — nobody wrote about it.

Two posts place the toilets inside on the ground floor; others praise them as hotel-grade with picture windows. Whether they are separated by gender we only know from a copied listing line, so we leave it open.

No one mentioned: Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 30 posts we gathered, 3 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Seven posts brought children and four mention high chairs on each floor (one adds there weren't many). Whether kids can go upstairs is disputed: one post says only the second-floor terrace is adults-only, another says the whole second floor is a no-kids zone because of the stairs and couldn't go up with a nephew, while two posts sat upstairs with their children.
  • Most posts give opening hours as 10:00-19:00 on weekdays (last order 18:30) and 10:00-20:00 at weekends (last order 19:30). Four list only 10:00-19:00, and one alone says the 19:00 close applies Tuesday to Thursday. No visitor reports a closed day. Three posts found the pastry counter nearly empty after about 3 p.m.
  • Only one post went by public transport: a bus from Gapyeong Station, with long gaps between buses, so the writer recommends driving. Everyone else drove, and one post says a car is unavoidable.
  • No post describes queuing. One saw a small crowd at the counter at 4 p.m. on a Saturday, and a few found the ground-floor outdoor seats or terrace already full. Whether there is a wait at weekends or holidays, nobody says.
  • Six posts give the same phone number, 0507-1388-9872. Three say the group room is booked in advance, but nobody describes actually calling to reserve.
  • Many posts repeat near-identical lines about a 2022 Gyeonggi architecture award, a 2024 Gapyeong landscaping prize and 100-plus ad shoots. We treat these as the cafe's own promotional copy, not evidence; one post mentions having visited earlier as a sponsored reviewer. The 'baked fresh every morning' claim is also the cafe's own, and one visitor doubted the pastries were made in-house.
  • One menu change shows up: a writer who'd visited some winters ago says there used to be a Gapyeong pine-nut latte, now replaced by the Golden Nuts Latte (toffee-nut latte with pine nuts). When it changed, we don't know.
