Grill houseKorean

Yangju Goeul Gogi Myeongga

양주고을고기명가 Goeul is an old word for a county town and myeongga means a house of good name, so the name reads roughly as 'the renowned meat house of Yangju town'.

A charcoal-grill pork house down a side street off Pyeonghwa-ro 1399beon-gil in Deokgye-dong, Yangju. The only meat is marinated pork at 10,000 won for 250g, eaten with 2,000-won soybean stew, 6,000-won cold noodles, 3,000-won soju and 4,000-won beer. Side dishes are served at first and topped up from a self-serve bar. We read twelve posts from 17 November 2025 to 20 October 2026, all from people who actually ate there. A November 2025 post mentions opening-day flower wreaths, so the place opened around then.

When it opens

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Eleven posts said the prices are easy on the wallet and none called them high. The 10,000-won meat price held from November 2025 to October 2026; one July 2026 writer asked whether these were really this year's prices. Several posts explain the low price by the pork being imported from the US.
  2. Nine posts mention going back to the self-serve bar for more side dishes. One lists squid salad, green salad, jellyfish, lettuce, garlic, chilli, kimchi and sliced onion; the spicy squid salad comes up in several posts, and one writer went back for the green salad three times.
  3. Five posts call the owner and staff friendly. Several mention staff coming round to check the meat and swap grill plates, and two say they were given a free can of soft drink.
  4. Six posts say the marinade is not too sweet, one adding that it made the meat easy to keep eating. None called it sweet.
2 more
  1. Five posts were family meals, three of them with children. One parent found the stew a little too peppery for a six-year-old and gave mostly the solids.
  2. One post came by bus, getting off at Myeongseong Sinu Apartments or Rich Mart and walking three to five minutes. The rest drove or did not say.

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside

Toilet inside3 of 12 posts

No post describes which floor the restaurant is on; the '1st floor' in the address is only the registered address.

Nobody wrote about steps at the entrance or wheelchair and stroller access. That means we do not know, not that there is none.

Three posts say the toilet is inside the restaurant. Whether it is split by gender or wheelchair-accessible, we do not know.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know

  • No post mentions waiting. One found plenty of empty tables in the early evening and two said the place was busy, but we do not know whether there is a wait at peak times.
  • Opening hours of 10:00 to 22:00 appear in three posts, but all three copied them from a listing. The only first-hand time is a July 2026 post saying the kitchen closed at 9:30 pm. No post gives a closing day.
  • Three posts give the phone number 0507-1492-2121. Nobody said whether the restaurant takes bookings.
  • Few posts give a total bill: one says 30,000 won for three portions and another 20,000 won for two, but nobody adds up stew, noodles and drinks. Treat the prices as menu prices.
  • One post (November 2025) discloses sponsorship and five say they paid for themselves. Five Daum blog posts from November 2025 read alike, but not closely enough to call them a template batch.
