Grill houseKorean

Hwamokjeong Sutbulgui

화목정 숯불구이 Hwamok is the everyday Korean word for harmony in a family, and sutbul-gui means grilled over charcoal.

Compiled from 20 blog posts read in fullSources →

A charcoal pork-rib house on the ground floor of a shopping row at Deokgye-ro 7-gil 16 in Deokgye-dong, Yangju, opened in May 2026. Pork ribs are 16,000 won for 200 g; staff bring charcoal to each table and you grill yourself. Side dishes arrive in brass bowls, with a self-serve bar for refills, and the usual extras are a cheese-topped puffed egg (5,000 won) and doenjang stew (3,000 won). We read 23 posts dated 4 May to 18 October 2026, 21 of them from actual visits. May posts describe a small room; from August posts describe two halls.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Nineteen of the 21 visit posts topped up side dishes at the self-serve bar: lettuce and perilla leaves, radish salad, young-radish kimchi, kelp-noodle salad. One found an aged white kimchi there that wasn't on the table. Two mention the side dishes arriving in brass bowls.
  2. Posts split on how sweet the rib marinade is: eight call it sweet, four say it isn't, two don't settle. One post traced the sweetness to the ssamjang dipping paste rather than the ribs and found the two together too much.
  3. Seven posts say who they came with: four with family (two of them with children), two as a couple, one as a group of four. Three posts saw high chairs; one counted more than four.

Parking

4 posts say you can park; 1 say you cannot. We leave the disagreement standing rather than picking a side.

Posts saying you can park4 of 20 posts
Posts saying you cannot1 of 20 posts

Four posts parked without trouble, all describing room for about four cars in front of or beside the building; one says it was free, another used nearby roadside and a vacant lot when those were full. One May post said there was no parking, and one from the soft opening said there was no dedicated lot.

Getting inside

In a basementyes 0 · no 2 (of 20 posts read)

Two posts say it is on the ground floor; none mention a basement or upstairs seating.

No post says whether there is a step at the door or whether anyone came in with a wheelchair or pushchair. Two posts paste the listing's wheelchair-accessible note, which we don't count. That means nobody wrote about it, not that access is poor.

No post says whether the toilet is inside the restaurant. Separate men's and women's toilets appear only in copied listing text.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 22 posts we gathered, 2 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Descriptions of the room change over time. Two May 2026 posts call it small with tables close together. From August, four posts call it spacious and two describe a separate second hall or group room; an October post guesses the neighbouring unit was knocked through. It looks like an expansion, but no post has the restaurant saying so.
  • Two posts report slow service, both from May 2026 just after opening: one waited repeatedly for charcoal and a grill after the meat arrived, the other had the owner apologise for late ribs with an extra portion. No post from August on mentions delays, and two describe friendly staff.
  • Fourteen posts give the same hours, noon to midnight daily, nine give last orders at 23:00 and three a 22:30 entry cut-off — mostly copied from the listing. May posts show an afternoon break, but one notes it ended on 27 May and no later post mentions one.
  • Prices are largely steady from May to October 2026. One post puts two portions of ribs, a stew and the egg at 40,000 won in total. What changed is the rice: May posts say the 3,000-won stew included it, September posts say rice is 1,000 won extra. Four posts give 7,000 won for cold noodles, one gives 8,000. One May post found it not cheap overall.
  • Three posts comment on portions and they split: two found them small (one piece per portion, as one put it), one found two portions generous. The line that bones make the ribs look smaller than their true weight recurs in many posts, but it is the restaurant's own wording and we did not count it.
  • Many posts repeat that it is 548 m from Deokgye Station exit 1, but that is copied text. No post describes arriving by train or bus; three came by car.
  • Only one post, from May 2026, mentions a queue, with no wait time given. Two others describe a busy dinner room without saying they waited.
  • Twelve posts list the phone number 0507-1456-5553. No post says it booked ahead; the line that booking is required comes from the restaurant's own handout.
  • Much of the wording repeats across posts. Two October 2026 posts are near-identical promotional copy and we don't count them as visits. Six more repeat the same lines about using only rib meat and leaving the fat on; one cites a guide, so they look like a handout from the restaurant. We didn't treat those lines as evidence.
