Grill houseKorean

Jangse Muhanripil Ilsan Bonjeom

장세 무한리필 일산본점 An all-you-can-eat charcoal grill house in the Daehwa eating alley in Ilsan, going on a quarter-century in the same spot, where beef, pork and duck come from one refrigerated case and the cold noodles are made in-house.

Compiled from 28 blog posts read in fullSources →

Jangse is an all-you-can-eat grill house in the Daehwa eating alley, a walk from Daehwa station. The registered name is the bare 장세무한리필; the sign and the customers use the longer one. Beef, pork and duck sit in a chilled case; you plate what you want and grill it over the charcoal set into your own table — wrap leaves, side dishes and rice included, refilled as often as you like. Half past eleven until half past ten daily, but last entry is half past nine and the self-service counter closes at ten. For anyone not here to grill there are lunch plates: short-rib soup, braised short rib, sirloin bulgogi. Twenty-odd years in the same spot has brought it onto television more than once, and one writer calls it the first all-you-can-eat restaurant in the country. The posts we read run from March 2025 to September 2026.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

These hours are counted from the posts we read. Shops change them without notice — check Naver Place before you go. Place — check hours

What sets it apart

  1. What people write about first here is not the meat but the room. One counts space for seventy and more; others describe a wide floor of four-seat tables, and the absence of the usual grill-house clatter. Six posts separately remark on the gap between tables — presumably because elbow-to-elbow is the norm in places like this. Seventeen say it would do for a works dinner or a family gathering, and two record other tables already doing exactly that, at lunchtime on a weekday.
  2. Sit down and someone tells you the order to cook in. Seven posts record being given the same instruction: start with the thin beef belly, let its fat season the plate, and nothing after it catches (three more pass the tip on without saying who told them). Three were asked first whether this was their first visit; one was walked through lighting the charcoal off the gas and then working the little air lever. The next thing they agree on is that nobody gives you a look — three raise the usual complaint about all-you-can-eat places and say it does not apply here, and two note the owner topping up the case before a tray can empty. One was steered to a cooler table by the air conditioner; one had her grill rescued when she was losing control of the heat. There is one thing asked in return: do not leave food, and one writer reports that the ₩5,000 waste charge is genuinely collected.
  3. "Good meat, for an all-you-can-eat" is the spine of nearly every post here. Seven writers say there was none of the gaminess they braced for; five open by admitting a prejudice about places like this and close by reporting it broken. Sixteen posts say the beef is Australian grass-fed — a line evidently heard in the room, and one we have not verified; we count only that sixteen people wrote it. Two say the same of the duck, a meat that usually gives itself away. Put the other way round: what the posts complain about is not the meat but the grilling — three warn that with this much heat, a moment late and it turns tough.
  4. The returning runs long here. One writer came six times between March 2025 and June 2026 and wrote it up each time — and because he did, the price rises, the arrival of the LA-cut ribs and the fresh duck, and the shrinking and then regrowing snack counter all come through one pair of eyes in sequence. Another is on her third visit; another goes at least monthly. The two longest gaps are the striking ones: one writer had last come eight years earlier, and one had come on the strength of a leaflet when her children were small — more than twenty years ago, she reckons — and writes that with so much else gone from the neighbourhood she was glad to find it still standing. Three posts, by contrast, say plainly that this was a first visit.
3 more
  1. A place you once entered barefoot now has chairs. Six posts mark the change: five note that where the writer used to sit on the floor there is now seating throughout, apparently after a refit (all five by the same blogger), and one comes from the woman who last visited over twenty years ago and found the new arrangement easier. None of them says when it happened — within our window, which opens in March 2025, it is chairs from first post to last. For anyone with bad knees, or who would rather keep their shoes on, this is the better version.
  2. A review promotion has been running here for eighteen months. From an April 2025 post through to July 2026, the same "no-blanks" draw keeps appearing, entered by leaving a receipt review on Naver; one writer says a free meal is among the prizes. Drink promotions run alongside it (a 22nd-anniversary offer at ₩1,500 and ₩3,000, later soju at ₩2,000 and beer at ₩3,000, Cass excepted). This is worth holding in mind while reading the rest. Only one post declares sponsorship — a single hashtag at the very bottom — yet the same talking points travel from post to post: Australian grass-fed beef in sixteen of them, "on television several times" in ten, "broth, sauce and chilli paste made in-house" in ten — and thirteen of those sixteen fall inside the four months from June to September 2026. The bodies differ and every one of them records eating, so we counted them all. But you should know that those four months look alike.
  3. Five posts were written by someone who brought a child, and all five reach for the same things: the minced-rib patty, the sausages, and the duck. Three list duck, tteokgalbi and sausage together as what children go for, and of the four sausages — plain, cheese, curry, hot chilli — two parents single out the curry one. Several note the children's prices (₩15,000 to fourth grade, ₩7,000 below school age), and one points out that with rice unlimited it is the obvious thing to fill a child up on. Nothing in any post about a high chair or a changing table — only one mother explaining that she got no photographs of the meat at all, because she was eating with a baby on her lap.

Posts saying you can park12 of 28 posts

There is a yard in front, and it is small. Those who parked in it count four cars, five, six, six or seven — we cannot say which is right. What they do agree on is the other thing: the eating alley is hard to park in at all. One writer notes you do not fit inside the painted lines but wedge in anyway, and that with the lane full she got the last space. Another, handing out five stars for everything else, gave parking two. Everyone who describes an easy time of it had deliberately come outside the lunch rush. One post says it is free.

Getting inside

Toilet insideyes 0 · no 6 (of 28 posts read)
Separate restroomsyes 0 · no 2 (of 28 posts read)

Not one post mentions stairs. The address line says ground floor and one writer places it in the commercial strip of an apartment block — but that is the address being transcribed, and nobody describes stepping up or down on their way in. About the inside there is more: six posts record that where you once took your shoes off and sat on the floor, a refit has put chairs everywhere, and one is glad of the change. So we can guess at levels inside the room, and we know nothing about the door.

Not one of the twenty-eight posts mentions a step, a ramp, a wheelchair or a pushchair. We searched by machine and checked by hand. The address says ground floor, and several posts note that the old floor seating has become chairs, which should make the room itself easier — but nobody looked at the entrance, so we do not know. Ground floor and step-free are not the same claim. If you are coming with a wheelchair or a pushchair, ring and ask.

The toilet, too, rests on one writer. He says the same thing in five posts: you go outside the building to reach it, it is shared between men and women, and it is not bad. (In the two later posts the "shared" drops out and only "not bad" remains.) The other twenty-two never mention it. One post does contain the words "separate men's and women's" — but it sits in a run of "groups welcome, delivery, takeaway, wi-fi, booking, parking" lifted wholesale from the Naver place listing, so that writer did not see it. We record both: what one person saw, and that nobody else looked.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 29 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • The ₩25,000 is a summer-2026 figure. Across the twenty months we read it rose twice: ₩23,000 in five posts from March to September 2025, ₩24,000 in four from December 2025 to March 2026, ₩25,000 in twelve from June to September 2026. The children's prices — ₩15,000 up to fourth grade, ₩7,000 for pre-schoolers — did not move inside that window. On eating alone, only one writer has anything firm: one post says two adults is the minimum, another says she asked the owner and was told ₩28,000 for one. If you are going by yourself, ring first.
  • One person, and one only, writes about getting here without a car. He pastes the same directions into every one of his posts: fifteen minutes on foot from exit 6 at Daehwa on line 3, seven minutes from the Munchon/Seongjeo stop, one minute from the Yonsei Plaza stop, and the alley is on the far side of Daejin high school from the station. Two other posts carry "853m from exit 6, seven minutes" — identical down to the metre, which is the mark of something copied, so we did not count it. Nobody describes actually making the walk. The rest drove, or say nothing about how they arrived.
  • Nobody here has seen it busy. Five posts touch on queueing and all five say there wasn't one — and all five writers had gone out of their way to miss the rush: after the weekday lunch hour, at noon, past two in the afternoon, deliberately off-peak. One adds that there may well be a wait in the evening and notes a sign-up sheet at the door for your name and party size; another guesses there must be a queue at peak. Neither waited; both are reading the furniture. Three writers do say that even at midday the room filled up while they ate.
