Sodamchon is a hot-pot and rice-paper-roll house on the third floor of the Lotte Mart in Bono-dong, Ansan. The menu is effectively a single line, so nearly everyone eats the same meal: a set of vegetables for the rolls and sliced beef for the pot, with a choice of cut (chuck or brisket, hanwoo or wagyu for more) and of broth (mild, hot, or half and half) — and then the greens, the noodles, the dumplings and the rice paper are yours to fetch, without limit, from the bar. It ends with knife-cut noodles in what is left of the broth, then a porridge made from the rice and raw egg set down at the start. When you have paid you may use the café attached to the room, free, and twenty-four of these twenty-eight posts want to tell you about it. Eleven in the morning until ten at night, every day. There is floor seating and a room where children watch films, and people come here for family gatherings and work dinners. The posts we read run from October 2024 to May 2026.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart
- These accounts nearly all end in the café. Once you have paid, the space beside the till is yours for nothing: four ice creams — vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, cookies-and-cream — filter Americano, and plum, bokbunja, pomegranate and peach teas, with an ice machine for the cold versions. Four writers go out of their way to defend the ice cream: not the cheap stuff, one says; she had taken it for a specialist's. Two are struck that the café is bigger than most cafés, with tables for six, so the evening simply continues where it is. The cups are not disposable, so nothing leaves the room. One writer arrived too late in the service to use it; another, one evening, found unwashed cups piled up and the water round the ice-cream scoop dirty.
- Only the beef is measured out; everything else is bottomless. Twenty-two writers describe the bar. It runs in two halves — greens for the pot on one side, greens for the rolls on the other, with dumplings, fish cake, fried tofu, rice cake and four kinds of noodle alongside; the broth and the rice paper come from here too. The plates at your table are divided and labelled, so two writers who had never eaten this way before knew where to put things. Several name what to be sure of: three tell you to drop the thin noodles into the cold radish-leaf kimchi; one lists the fish balls, the fried tofu, the enoki, the kimchi dumplings and the pineapple; one puts crab into the final porridge. The hot water for the rice paper goes cold quickly and wants refreshing — four writers say so — and one notes it is tinted red with beetroot.
- Clear your plates and they give you a coupon. Nine writers record it: eat everything and you leave with a voucher for a portion of beef, worth ₩10,000, on your next visit. You have to mention it at the till, and one writer, who had scraped the pot clean, forgot and is still annoyed. Three others mention a separate coupon anyone can claim on the Naver map, and one warns that this one is redeemed by calling a server over when you order more beef, not at payment — the ordering screen will not take it. Three note that on weekday lunchtimes the same set comes cheaper with the beef cut to 70g, and one draws the obvious conclusion: save the coupon for lunch.
- This is a place built with children in mind — but do not read too much into the words 'kids zone'. Nine writers describe the children's space, and it is not a playroom: it is a small room with a projector showing cartoons. One says as much outright — no toys, just the projector. What it does have is a camera, so the room appears on a monitor at your table; four writers mention it, and one says it let her eat without getting up. Under-fives eat free, and three writers note high chairs and children's crockery kept in quantity. One found a heated floor-seating room as well.
1 more
- You choose the broth, mild or hot, and you can have half of each — four writers did. About the hot side they disagree: one loves that the heat is real; one found it hotter than a bowl of Shin ramyeon and went back for more clear broth to cut it; a third trails off mid-sentence about it. Two writers say there is no hot broth as such — you are brought the plain one and stir in as much red paste as you want, which means the heat is yours to set, and one of them says that is exactly why it suits her. Two advise putting the noodles in the hot side and making the porridge in the clear one.

Parking
10 posts say you can park. None say you cannot.

You park in the Lotte Mart car park and give your plate number when you pay. How many hours are free, though, the writers disagree about — three say three hours (April, May and October 2025), one says two (March 2025), and the rest just say free. We could not settle it: mart validation often turns on how much you spend, so if you mean to sit a while, ask at the table. They also disagree about how to reach the third floor. One says the B1 lift only goes up to street level, so park on B2 or B3 and take the central lift; another says the car-park lift does not reach the third floor at all and you must use the central lift on the ground floor or the escalator by the main door. Those are not quite the same instruction. If you drive, check which lift before you get in.

Getting inside
| Lift to the floor | 6 of 28 posts |

This is on the third floor of a Lotte Mart — not a shop you walk into off the street. You go in at the mart's main door and take the escalator or the lift, and two writers note that the restaurant is directly in front of you when the lift doors open. One remembers it as the old kids'-café unit, across from the paediatrician. Nobody here walked up, and nobody says whether there are stairs. Being inside the mart shapes the visit: three writers pair the meal with the weekly shop, in one order or the other. And it opens on the mart's own closing days — eight writers say so, unprompted, which suggests someone once made the trip for nothing.
One writer came with a pushchair; nobody mentions a wheelchair at all. She records that the lift takes you straight up with it, and that there was room to park it. A second writer, looking at the space between tables, says a pushchair would be no trouble — but she did not bring one. No post mentions a threshold, a ramp or a step, and the word wheelchair does not appear once in twenty-eight posts. Being inside a mart, the approach is probably level, but that is our guess and not something we checked. Note too that part of the seating is on the floor, shoes off.
Not one writer mentions the lavatories. Across twenty-eight posts there is nothing: whether they are inside the restaurant or shared with the mart's third floor, whether they are separated by sex, whether there is a baby-changing table — nobody looked. This despite four writers bringing children, and three of those going as far as the high chairs and the children's bowls. Being in a mart there is presumably something on the floor, but presumption is not what we sell. Ask when you sit down.
No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know
- Almost nobody records how to get here without a car. One writer names the nearest stations — Sangnoksu on Line 4, Sari on the Suin-Bundang line; another says only that the spot is easy to reach by public transport or by car. Neither gives a walking time, an exit number, or a bus. The other twenty-six either say nothing about the journey or drove; one mentions leaving the car at home because she lives nearby, which is not directions. Many say the place is easy to find because it is in the Lotte Mart — but that is about finding the building, not about getting there from a station. If you are coming from outside Ansan, check a map yourself.
- Whether you wait depends on when you come, and these writers came at different times. One actually queued, briefly, in the seats by the door. Two others record walking straight in, and both add 'and it was a Saturday evening'. Between those, three say the place fills at weekday lunchtimes and at weekends — one deliberately went at three in the afternoon to avoid it. The shape of it: the room is big enough that people do walk in on a weekend evening, but lunchtime can mean waiting. Nobody puts a number on how long. One writer notes you can book by telephone.
- Not one of these posts declares a sponsorship. We read the bodies and the hashtags. Ten say they paid for themselves; none says anyone else did. Two things are worth recording. First — one of the twenty-eight was written by a house-cleaning company's blog. It records a meal, so it counts, but half the post advertises the business and only four lines concern this restaurant. Second — five are diaries that move through many places; in those we read only this shop's passage and counted only this shop's passage, taking no parking, no waiting and no opening hours from any of them. One of the five amounts to a single sentence about mushroom hot-pot on a grandmother's birthday; another to a wish for a few more side items and a verdict that this is the place for fish cake. Short visits are still visits, and we have not stretched them.
