닭동가리 구미옥계점 A Daegu-born chicken house done up as an old street tent, frying whole birds to order in Gumi's Okgye district
Data as of · Published ·
Dakdonggari Gumi Okgye is a chicken-and-drinking house on the ground floor of a building on Sanho-daero 29-gil, in the eating lane of Gumi's Okgye fourth industrial district. The chain began in Daegu and opened here in May 2025; two more branches sit elsewhere in Gumi. The birds are battered and fried only after you order, and the same menu carries chicken feet, a red chicken stew, stir-fried squid, rice balls, steamed egg and shaved ice. Five in the evening until two in the morning, three on Fridays and Saturdays. The room is done as a 1980s street tent — drinks arrive buried in ice in a red plastic tub — and two writers watched baseball on the televisions at either wall. The posts we read run from May 2025 to August 2026.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart
- The thing written about most often here is not the chicken but the free cabbage salad. Sixteen posts mention it: shredded cabbage under ketchup and mayonnaise, the old chicken-shop kind, with pickled radish and a cold bean-sprout soup, and puffed snacks alongside in four accounts. Ask and they refill it — five writers did, and one had two bowls and says she was not charged. One writer's entire verdict on the place is that the cabbage salad was good enough to bring her back. Two note that most chicken shops now charge for it or skip it, and that here it simply arrives.
- The batter goes on after you order. Eight posts say so and four add the consequence — it takes a while; one suggests ringing ahead if you arrive hungry. Fourteen call the crust crisp, and several tie that directly to its coming straight from the fryer. One writer got a crisp bird on a rainy night. Budget the wait.
- The portions are large: thirteen posts say so and four could not finish. Two people took home most of a ₩40,000 set; two light eaters gave up on theirs; another packed the leftover chicken. The size of the bird comes up over and over, and three writers measured a drumstick against their own palm. The stew is billed as two to three portions; one writer found two plainly too few and three about right. Not one post calls the place expensive — the word that recurs is value.
- A tablet at every table; you order from your seat. Ten posts mention it, one calls it a kiosk, and one notes you can also summon cutlery, a bottle opener and more side dishes through it. Two found the wall posters made choosing easy. For what it is worth, the company that installed the tills wrote one of the posts in our pile — twenty-two tablets, it says — and we left it out as not a visit.
- The stool lids lift; bags and coats go inside. Four writers mention it, in the tone of a small thing that turns out to matter. One adds that the seats are cushioned with backs, so you can sit a long time. Two note the disposable aprons, and say to put one on before anything red arrives.
- There are tables outside. Five posts mention them — a February writer who wants the doors thrown open and calls it too cold yet, an October one who sat in the draught with the doors wide and liked it. It reads as though they are shut in winter, though no post says so. Three others say it feels like eating outdoors even indoors, which is a remark about the decor rather than the door.

Parking
9 posts say you can park; 5 say you cannot. We leave the disagreement standing rather than picking a side.

| Posts saying you cannot | 5 of 27 posts |
The posts contradict each other outright on parking. Nine say you can leave the car in front of the shop — four of them count about four spaces, one four or five, one three or four, one only two. Five say there is no car park at all, and send you to the lane, the roadside or a paid lot. Two sponsored posts published on the same day, 21 February 2026, say opposite things: one parked easily right outside, the other says there is no lot and you should use the alley. Four writers actually drove. One of them, having counted two spaces out front, warns they may be taken and parked elsewhere and walked in. Read together it sounds less like a car park than a patch of ground in front of the shop that holds a few cars, seen full by some and empty by others. If you drive, have a second plan.

Getting there

Getting inside
| Toilet inside | yes 0 · no 2 (of 27 posts read) |
|---|
Nobody writes about the floor either. The address carries "1F, unit 101" and one post names the building, but that is copied from an address, not something anyone looked at. No post says whether you step up to get in or walk straight off the pavement. Five writers describe outdoor tables and doors thrown wide, which suggests street level, but we have not confirmed it.
Not one writer touches on the step at the door or on wheelchair access. Across twenty-seven posts nobody looks for a sill, a ramp, or room for a chair or a pram. Three writers brought children and none of them mentions a pushchair. This is not the absence of a step; it is the absence of anyone who looked.
The lavatory is not inside the shop. Two writers say so — one that you go out and turn left, another that you use the one in the building out front. It reads as a shared building lavatory. Nobody writes whether it is separated by sex, or what it is like inside. Nobody mentions an accessible one either.
No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 29 posts we gathered, 2 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- No one writes how to get here by bus or train. The directions that exist are all on foot: two say walk right from the Big Mart and you will see the sign, one puts it five minutes from Yangpo Library, one places it beside the lamb-skewer shop. Not a single stop name or route number appears in any post. Four writers drove; one deliberately left the car at home in order to drink.
- Nobody reports queuing. Several report a full room — one arrived between nine and ten at night to a crowd, three watched the tables fill around them after an early start — but none of them waited outside. Two advise booking ahead for a group. That is not the same as saying there is no queue; it is that no one who waited has written about it.
- Five writers declare that something was given. One had "a small service provided", one a meal voucher, and three tag the post "#sponsored" without saying more. Exactly one declares she paid; the other twenty-one say nothing either way. Separately, there is a Naver receipt-review promotion — four posts mention getting rice balls, ramyun or udon for writing one. We did not drop the sponsored posts from the count: they carry the disagreements too, and the two posts that contradict each other most sharply about parking are both sponsored.
- One writer saw someone smoking inside. It is a September 2025 post, and the remark arrives sideways in a diary entry: the smoke was unpleasant, but the cabbage salad was good enough to bring her back. It is the only mention of smoking in twenty-seven posts, and nobody says whether there is a smoking room. The doors stand open and there are tables outside, so the line between in and out may not be sharp — but we have not confirmed that.
- One person wrote three of these. Twenty-seven posts, twenty-five writers: one blogger came in August 2025, November 2025 and February 2026 and wrote each visit up. Four others also record a return. Counts of posts are not counts of people.
- Three posts are out of the count. One is a nationwide list of newly licensed businesses across another province with not a line about this shop. One is an installation write-up by the company that sold the tills. The third, from August 2026, runs for a thousand words about a "premium space" and a "refined and luxurious tone" without naming a single dish, a price, a companion or a date — it declares it was paid for, but we could not count it as somebody's visit. That is why the number is twenty-seven and not thirty.
