Sinsegye Jjimdak
신세계찜닭 Sinsegye means 'new world'; jjimdak is Andong's soy-braised chicken with glass noodles, potatoes and cabbage.
Compiled from 18 blog posts read in fullSources →
A jjimdak house in the braised-chicken alley of Andong's old market (10 Beonyeong-gil). Andong jjimdak — chicken, potatoes, cabbage and glass noodles braised in soy sauce — is 32,000 won for a medium and 48,000 won for a large; jjorimdak, reduced down with rice cakes instead of noodles, is 35,000 won for a medium. You choose mild, regular or hot. The only side dish is pickled radish, though four posts say kimchi comes if you ask. We read 30 posts from January to October 2026. Five were really about other places and only carried a link to this shop's meal kit, so we set them aside; 18 are from people who ate here.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- Fourteen of the 18 visits call the portions large. Five pairs ordered one medium and still left food; the recurring advice is that a medium suits three, not two. The glass noodles get the most comment — one diner said they kept coming no matter how much she ate.
- Six visits mention waiting or a line; two walked straight in. The two that timed it both waited 10 minutes (an early lunch on a May holiday, and 4:30 pm in June). One post says weekends at mealtimes have a line but weekdays rarely do. Three people booked through Naver first; one of them was seated at once even though the room was full.
- Three visits were with children and two mention high chairs. Two of the parents ordered the mild version with no chili and asked for the hot sauce on the side for the adults. One notes that pickled radish is the only side dish, so bring something like seaweed for a child who won't eat jjimdak.
- Four posts mention walls full of autographs, naming lawyer-broadcaster Han Mun-cheol and idol Lee Gi-kwang among them. The list of TV appearances posted out front is the shop's own advertising, so we did not count it.
1 more
- Four posts say the chicken had no gamey smell; none said it did. On heat, four found the regular level spicy and one did not — staff reportedly describe regular as about Shin Ramyun hot.

Parking
7 posts say you can park. None say you cannot.

One post says the shop has no parking of its own; all seven visits that came by car used the Andong old-market public lot — 30 minutes free, then 500 won an hour. One diner says the advertised 2–3 minute walk was more like 10; another found a line for the lot itself around 11 am.
Three posts say the shop used to hand out validation for the public lot but no longer does; the first to say so is from June 2026. We don't know when it changed.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.
Getting inside
| Toilet inside | 3 of 18 posts |

| Separate restrooms | 1 of 18 posts |
No one described which floor the shop is on or whether there are stairs; a copied address says "1st floor" once. We simply don't know.
Nobody mentioned a step at the entrance or getting in with a wheelchair or stroller. All we know is that it sits inside a market alley.
Three posts say the toilet is inside the shop; one places it beside the kitchen, with one stall each for men and women.
No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 25 posts we gathered, 7 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Seven posts call the room large, but table spacing is disputed: two say tables are close enough to feel crowded when full, one found them comfortably spaced.
- No one described coming by bus or train; posts either drove or walked over from nearby (five minutes from Mammoth Bakery, via the Culture Street).
- Opening hours: 13 of the 14 visit posts that give them say 9:30 am to 9 pm; one says until 9:30 pm. Last order is 7:50 pm in nine posts and 8:05 pm in one. On closing days, one post copied Naver Maps' "fourth Wednesday of every month" while another says open every day. Most of this was copied rather than observed.
- Andong jjimdak held at 32,000 won (medium) and 48,000 won (large) from January to October. Jjorimdak is 35,000 won in most posts, 32,000 won in one; seasoned fried chicken appears at both 22,000 and 23,000 won. Two people sharing a medium with rice spend about 33,000–34,000 won.
- Nine posts give the phone number as 054-859-5484; one gives 0507-1408-5484. Three people booked through Naver, and posts say a booking earns two free bowls of rice or a drink — that is the shop's own promotion, so we did not count it separately.
- Five posts carried the identical affiliate link for this shop's meal kit while actually covering Jongga Jjimdak or sightseeing; we excluded them. Two long new-restaurant registration lists could not be checked for this shop's entry.
