WOL GYE GWAN
월계관 Wolgyegwan Wolgyegwan is the Korean word for a laurel crown, but the house's Instagram writes it 月鷄冠, 'moon, chicken, crown', which reads as a cockscomb, and the walls carry rooster drawings.

A Korean restaurant in a hanok on a side lane of Hwangnidan-gil, Gyeongju. It serves set spreads of soy beef bulgogi or fire-seared pork with five-grain snail ssamjang, spicy snail salad, wrap greens, six side dishes, rice and soup (17,900 and 15,900 won per person, two minimum), plus a spicy chicken-leg dish at 29,900 won. Eleven posts describe ordering by QR code at the table. We read 30 posts from 6 April to 25 October 2026; 28 describe an actual meal, one was about another restaurant and one was an information-only post with no visit.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- Expect a wait at mealtimes. Five posts waited or saw a queue: already waiting at 11:30 on a weekday; half full at 11:50 and a short wait by 12:30; a crowd outside after 12:30; two groups ahead for a table of three or four. You sign up on a Catchtable machine at the door, and tables are called by size (twos and fours), so order can change. One post timed its arrival for the end of the afternoon break and walked straight in. Three posts mention a seated waiting area in the hanok courtyard.
- The snail ssamjang not being salty is the most repeated remark: eight posts say the seasoning is gentle. One post split it, finding the ssamjang not salty at all but the bulgogi on the salty side. The ssamjang is topped with seeds such as pumpkin seed, and one diner had the nuts left out on request.
- The family-friendly reputation rests on actual visits: four posts went with children and four saw high chairs. A parent with a 15-month-old says baby cutlery is available on request. One post says the non-spicy bulgogi went down well with a child, and there is a separate kids' patty plate at 8,500 won.
- Large windows wrap the hanok under its tiled roof, so the room is bright; nine posts mention the windows or window seats, nine the open kitchen, eleven that the room is roomy. Phrases like 'seats up to 60' and 'good for dates, families and groups' recur word for word across posts and look like supplied copy, so we did not count them.

There is no lot of its own; two posts found that out, and the three that drove used the Hwangnidan-gil public lot or a paid lot nearby. Walking times to car parks in other posts are copied listings.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside
| Toilet inside | yes 0 · no 5 (of 28 posts read) |

No post describes which floor the dining room is on; '1st floor' appears only in the address.
No post says whether there is a step at the entrance or whether anyone got in with a wheelchair or stroller. One post's info block lists wheelchair seating, but it is copied and we did not count it. That means nobody wrote about it, not that access is poor.
The toilets are outside the dining room, in the courtyard; five posts say so, and two note separate men's and women's stalls, one each.
No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 29 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Only one post says it came by public transport and recommends it; bus-stop walking times elsewhere are copied listings.
- All opening hours come from copied info blocks. Seventeen posts agree on 11:00 to 21:00 with a 15:00 to 17:00 break and last order at 20:00; one gives the break as 14:00 to 17:00, and one gives 21:30 close, 20:30 last order, a 16:00 to 17:00 break and no closing day, citing the restaurant's Instagram. A 'closed Mondays' line in a no-visit post contradicts everything else and was left out. One diner arrived during the break and waited until 5 pm.
- Prices were stable across posts from August to October 2026: beef set 17,900 won, pork set 15,900, chicken legs 29,900, seafood pancake 16,000. The April post gives none, so earlier prices are unknown. Three posts say extra greens cost 2,000 won. One post found the chicken dish not cheap.
- The phone number 0507-1380-9535 is copied identically by many posts. Naver booking is mentioned only in copied blocks; no post actually reserved.
- Seven posts call the place clean, but a late-July visitor was bothered by flies in midsummer and an October visitor had a bee fly in during the meal. The July post also found the bulgogi ordinary though the side dishes good. Only one post discloses a complimentary meal.
