Bodol Miyeok Gyeongju

보돌미역 경주점 Miyeok is Korean seaweed (the kind in birthday soup); one post reads Bodol as a play on bodeul-bodeul, 'soft and silky', for how the seaweed is cooked.

Compiled from 29 blog posts read in fullSources →

A seaweed-soup specialist on the main road in Dongcheon-dong near Gyeongju City Hall (Yangjeong-ro 277-1); two posts note it is the Gyeongju branch of the Bodol Miyeok chain. The soups are cooked in a clam broth and served in earthenware pots, and the sets — wire-grilled bulgogi, cockle bibimbap, soy-marinated shrimp and abalone — each come with a small pot of the soup too. Posts give 11,000–20,000 won for a soup and 15,000–25,000 won for a set. It opens at 9 a.m., and many writers went there for breakfast while travelling. We read 30 posts from November 2025 to October 2026, all of them from people who ate there.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.

What sets it apart

  1. Extra side dishes come from a self-serve corner: 21 of the 30 posts said they went back for more or could. The four sides — stir-fried fish cake, dried radish, kimchi and gracilaria seaweed — are nearly the same in every post, three noted the dishes are kept under lids, and one saw a sign asking diners to take only what they will eat.
  2. Eleven posts mention high chairs. Five writers brought children, and two of them said a usually picky child finished a bowl of rice in the soup with the bulgogi.
  3. You order from the table: eight posts describe a tablet or kiosk at each table. Two noted the sets can be ordered for one person.
  4. Eight posts call the portions large. Writers repeatedly say the 'mini' soup that comes with a set arrives in a full earthenware pot rather than a small bowl; a family of four ate six bowls of rice.
2 more
  1. The spicy dishes are the red-marinated bulgogi, braised pollock and seasoned cockles: five posts called them spicy (one: 'a little milder than Shin Ramyun'), one said the red bulgogi was not hot. No one called the soups or the soy bulgogi spicy.
  2. Most found it not salty: five posts said the marinated shrimp, abalone or bulgogi were not too salty, one found the red bulgogi strongly seasoned, and one said the soup was mild while the red bulgogi was on the salty side.

Parking

21 posts say you can park. None say you cannot.

Posts saying you can park21 of 29 posts

There is a private lot behind the building: of the 28 posts that mention parking, 21 parked there and found it easy. How big it is varies — one post says about seven cars, one about five, one three or four, and five just call it spacious. One writer parked elsewhere because cars were left at awkward angles, and another warns that the entrance to the lot is narrow.

Getting inside

Toilet insideyes 0 · no 1 (of 29 posts read)

No post says which floor the dining room is on or whether there are stairs. That means nobody wrote it down, not that there are none.

No one mentions a step at the entrance or getting in with a wheelchair or stroller; five posts involve children, but none mentions a stroller.

Only one post mentions the toilet: it is next to the parking lot and 'not very clean'. Separate men's and women's toilets appear only in a copied info block, so we did not count it.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know

  • No one arrived by bus or train. Posts give five to ten minutes by car from Hwangnidan-gil or Donggungwon, and one writer walked five minutes from their lodging.
  • No post describes waiting. One found the place empty at 10:30 a.m.; others saw the hall fill up at lunch, but no one recorded a wait time.
  • Opening hours have changed. Three posts from November 2025 give closing as 20:20 (one adds Sundays until 14:30), five from December 2025 give 20:10 on weekdays, and 19 posts from 2026 give 09:00–20:00 daily with a 15:00–17:00 break and last orders at 19:30. Nearly all of these are copied info blocks; one September 2026 post lists last orders at 20:30, after closing.
  • One price has moved: the flounder seaweed soup was 11,000 won in November 2025 and June 2026 posts and 12,000 won in October 2026. Three posts give 15,000 won for the beef soup and one from September 2026 gives 16,000. No one called it expensive.
  • Two posts booked ahead. Many posts copy the phone number 0507-1405-5117.
  • It is not an independent restaurant: two posts note it is part of a nationwide chain.
  • Three posts disclose sponsorship and one says the meal was provided; the other 26 say nothing. The same keyword phrases — 'Gyeongju bulgogi, Gyeongju Korean food, Gyeongju restaurant', 'breakfast available', 'a hearty home-style meal on a family trip' — recur across many posts, so undisclosed promotional pieces are likely mixed in.
