Jungang Jjimdak
중앙찜닭 Jungang means 'central' and jjimdak is soy-braised chicken, so the name reads simply as 'Central Braised Chicken'.
Compiled from 12 blog posts read in fullSources →
Jungang Jjimdak is a braised-chicken house in the jjimdak alley of Andong's old market (Beonyeong 1-gil 51). Visitors list the Andong jjimdak at 32,000 won for a medium and 48,000 won for a large, with a choice of mild, medium or hot. Rice is ordered separately, and four posts say the only side was pickled radish. We read 18 posts dated 18 August to 24 October 2026; 12 of them describe an actual visit.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- Eight posts say the portions are large. One couple could not finish a medium between them; a family of four, two of them children, shared a medium and left full. Two posts note there is no small size, so even two people start with a medium.
- Four posts describe waiting: 40 minutes at lunch during the mask-dance festival, 20 minutes at Saturday lunch, a queue forming right after one group sat down, and a line even at 1:30 pm over the Chuseok holiday. One post found it quiet and walked straight in.
- Two posts say you take your shoes off at the door. One mentions a shoe rack and raised tables; another says seating is half floor, half tables. A family with children was shown to a floor table.
- Four posts call the seasoning strong and salty; one says rice is a must because of it, another, from someone who likes salty food, still found the sauce quite intense.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.
Getting inside
No post says which floor the restaurant is on; that is unknown, not confirmed ground level.
Nobody mentions a step at the entrance or getting in with a wheelchair or stroller. Two posts do note it is a shoes-off restaurant.
No post says where the toilet is or whether it is separated by gender.
No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 17 posts we gathered, 5 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Heat is disputed: four posts found it spicy, four only mildly so. For the same medium level, one writer said it was hotter than Shin Ramyun and another said it did not reach that.
- No visiting post describes getting there by bus or train; four of them drove. One guide post that did not visit notes the old market is not walkable from the current Andong station.
- Five visiting posts give the opening hours as 9:00 am to 8:30 pm daily, but all five copied this from listing info. Guide posts that did not visit say 9 pm or 10 pm, so the closing time needs checking.
- Two visiting posts give the price as 32,000 won (medium) and 48,000 won (large). One felt it was expensive until the food arrived. A guide post that did not visit cites reports that alley shops were considering a 1,000-2,000 won rise; we have not confirmed current prices.
- Many posts list the phone number 054-855-7272, but no visiting post says whether tables can be booked. One only suggests phoning ahead for takeout.
