Cheongchosu Mulhoe

청초수물회 Cheongchosu (靑草水, 'green-grass water') echoes Cheongcho Lake, which the building faces; mulhoe is Korean cold raw-fish soup.

Compiled from 16 blog posts read in fullSources →

A mulhoe (cold raw-fish soup) house occupying a whole four-storey building right on Cheongcho Lake in Sokcho. The ground floor is a café and lobby; dining is on the second and third floors. Basic mulhoe is 19,000 won per person, the haejeon mulhoe with live abalone and sea cucumber 27,000 won for one or 48,000 for two, seopguk 15,000 and abalone porridge 16,000. Several posts describe taking a number from a ground-floor kiosk, being called by number and floor over a loudspeaker, and having food delivered by a robot. We read 30 posts dated 11 June to 21 October 2026: 4 were about other businesses, 10 were introductions or list entries without a visit, and 16 describe a visit (two of them written up late, from visits in August and November 2025).

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Weekend lunch means a wait, but not a long one. Eight posts say they waited and four say they did not. One arrived at 12:40 on a Saturday with 87 parties ahead and got in after about 20 minutes; another waited 20 minutes at 1:30 on a Saturday; a third had six parties ahead at 12:30 on a weekday and waited under ten minutes. The no-wait visits were during the Chuseok holiday, at 7 pm near closing, at 4 pm on a weekday, and on a weekday. Eight posts mention a waiting area — a tented seating area and chairs beside the ground-floor entrance — and two note the number announcements can only be heard outdoors.
  2. Five posts say food came quickly — one timed it at ten minutes — and one notes that because robots serve the aisles, a high chair cannot be placed on the aisle side.

Posts saying you can park10 of 16 posts

Getting inside

Second floor8 of 16 posts
Lift to the floor3 of 16 posts
Toilet inside1 of 16 posts
Separate restrooms1 of 16 posts

Eight posts say dining is on the second and third floors; the ground floor is the Merry-Go-Round café and lobby, and one post copied a sign saying the fourth floor is offices and a VIP room. Three posts mention lifts, though one walked up because of the crowd. Seven posts describe floor-to-ceiling windows over Cheongcho Lake and Seorak Bridge; posts note window seats go by queue number, must be requested separately, and you cannot move once seated.

Three posts note wheelchairs can be borrowed on the ground floor, but no one said whether the entrance has a step or ramp. That is not the same as there being none — no one wrote about it.

Only one post describes the toilets: on both the second and third floors, separated by sex. Another mentions toilets and a nursing room on the building's outer ground floor.

No one mentioned: In a basement · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 26 posts we gathered, 10 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

2026-10-213 posts in one day

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Portions divide opinion: two posts found them generous, three found them modest ('exactly one serving'), and one says the author and companion disagreed. One post found the side rice and noodles very small.
  • Views on price split one to one: one post found it fair for a tourist spot, another paid over 80,000 won for two bowls and found them small. Squid mulhoe is market-priced — 35,000 won in both August and September 2026. One post gives a bill: 64,000 won for a two-person haejeon mulhoe plus abalone porridge.
  • Only one post arrived without a car: about a 15-minute walk from Sokcho Express Bus Terminal, noting most customers came by car.
  • Nine of the ten visit posts that give hours agree on 10:00–20:50 with last orders at 20:00; one gives a 21:00 close. Two August 2026 posts show a 9 am opening, which one explains as an early-opening period until 17 August. Two posts say it opens every day of the year. Most of these hours are copied from the restaurant's listing.
  • On reservations and phone the posts differ. Seven copy the number 0507-1425-5051; one says no reservations, another copies Naver booking and a group line, 033-635-5050. One post notes it is not on remote-queue apps and only takes walk-in numbers. Group bookings of 30 or more come from the restaurant's own notice.
  • Four posts mention many celebrity autographs on the stairs and walls; the TV appearance claim comes from the restaurant's own display. Three introduction posts published on 21 October 2026 with the same title pattern and hashtags describe no visit, and we did not rely on them.
