Gaon Sikdang

가온식당 Gaon is a native Korean word usually read as 'the center'; sikdang simply means eatery.

Compiled from 1 blog posts read in fullSources →

A tripe house tucked into the back of a ground-floor unit on Sanae-ro 7-gil in Sachang-ri, Hwacheon. Salt-grilled pork tripe is par-grilled in the kitchen and finished on a table grill, with soybean stew and side dishes. The only price we have is 30,000 won for two takeout servings. We read 3 posts from June 2025 to October 2026; 2 of them describe eating there. A June 2025 post says the place started with just stir-fried tripe and offal soup and has since added dishes.

What sets it apart

  1. The tripe is par-grilled in the kitchen first. The one dine-in account says this makes it a little slow to arrive, but you only need to finish it briefly on the table grill.
  2. Extra side dishes come from a self-serve bar. The same post lists anchovies, zucchini, radish kimchi and cucumber salad, and says the owner refilled the big pot of soybean stew without being asked.
  3. One post found the portions large: three adults ordered four servings of tripe and were full without ordering more.

Getting inside

In a basementyes 0 · no 1 (of 1 posts read)

One post says it is on the ground floor, set back from the street so easy to miss. Nobody mentions an upper floor.

We don't know whether there is a step at the door or whether a wheelchair or stroller fits; no post says either way.

Nobody mentions the toilets, inside or out, shared or separate.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 2 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Only two posts describe eating here, and one is a single line in a diary, so most of what follows rests on one account.
  • We don't know how to get there by bus; one post mentions Sachang-ri bus tickets, but for a trip to Seoul, not to the restaurant.
  • No post mentions waiting; one says the room was packed but not whether there was a line.
  • Only one post says who they came with (three friends), so we can't say how it suits solo diners or families.
  • Opening hours come only from a copied info block at the end of one post (11:00-21:00, last order 20:00, closed Sundays); treat them as unconfirmed.
  • The only price is 30,000 won for two servings of takeout tripe (September 2026); nobody gives a dine-in bill or drink prices.
  • No post gives a phone number, and we don't know whether they take reservations.
