Yetnal Wondae Makguksu

옛날원대막국수 Yetnal means 'the old days', Wondae is Wondae-ri, the village by the Inje birch forest, and makguksu is Gangwon-style buckwheat noodles.

Compiled from 23 blog posts read in fullSources →

A buckwheat-noodle house at 1113 Jajaknamusup-gil, about five minutes' drive below the Wondae-ri birch forest in Inje. Cold or spicy makguksu comes with a jug of broth on the side, and you season it yourself with sugar, vinegar, mustard and perilla oil following a 'golden ratio' posted on the wall. Most tables add potato pancakes or boiled pork with gomchwi pickles. In September–October 2026 posts, noodles were 10,000 won (14,000 large), two potato pancakes 15,000 won, and the small pork plate 17,000 won. We read 30 posts dated December 30, 2025 to October 13, 2026; 24 describe an actual visit, and the other 6 are birch-forest guides or Inje restaurant lists that only name it.

Rows without a count: 5 of 8 posts.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Expect a wait at lunchtime. Ten posts waited, noting under ten minutes, ten minutes with four groups ahead, and thirty minutes; one gave up when told it would be an hour. One couple walked straight in at 11:30 and left at noon to a huge line. The three who didn't wait came around 11 a.m., at the 10 a.m. opening, or on a day the forest trail was closed. You write your name on a list by the door and get called.
  2. Four posts mention seating for those waiting, under an awning outside. Several also mention swallows nesting in the eaves above it.
  3. Three posts say food arrives fast, in under three or under ten minutes, and several credit quick turnover for the line moving.
  4. Prices have gone up. A January 2026 post listed noodles at 9,000 won and two potato pancakes at 13,000; September–October posts show 10,000 and 15,000. One post felt prices had risen a bit over two years and noted the three-pancake option is gone. The one post that judged value said the 17,000-won small pork plate wasn't expensive. A January 2026 bill for two noodle bowls, two dumpling soups and a pancake came to 55,000 won.

  1. Twelve posts describe walls covered in celebrity autographs, by the entrance, outside the restroom and along both sides of the room. The TV-show appearance and the film-director visit are hearsay, so we didn't count them.
  2. Three posts say the large noodle bowl is huge; one reckons Seoul places sell about half of it as a single portion. Two posts found the small pork plate small.
  3. Four posts mention sweetness: three about the pear-sweet noodle sauce, one about the acorn-jelly salad. On heat it's one each way, 'a little spicy' versus 'not spicy'. One post found it salty.
  4. Family trips dominate with seven posts, three with children; one notes there are high chairs. One post each came solo, with friends, or as a couple, and the solo diner saw other people eating alone.
  5. Three posts are repeat visits, including one person who eats here every time they're in Inje.

Parking

11 posts say you can park. None say you cannot.

Posts saying you can park11 of 23 posts

Eleven posts parked here themselves. There's a lot beside the building and another a little uphill; one post says a bigger lot sits at the top of a ramp. Of four that described size, one counted room for more than six cars beside the restaurant; one said it's free.

Where it is

Map showing where Yetnal Wondae Makguksu is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside

No post mentions floors, only that there's a main building, an annex and a separate reservation room. That doesn't mean it's all one level; nobody said.

Nobody wrote about a step at the entrance or getting in with a wheelchair or stroller. The 'ramp' in one post leads to the upper parking lot, not the door.

We don't know whether the restroom is inside. Posts mention a pretty path to it and fresh flowers inside; separate men's and women's rooms appear only in one copied info block.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 29 posts we gathered, 6 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

2026-10-132 posts in one day

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Opening hours appear to have changed. Five posts from December 2025 to May 2026 give 10:00–17:00 with last orders at 16:30; posts from visits since August 2026 give 10:00–16:30 on weekdays (last order 16:00) and 10:00–17:00 on weekends (16:30). Both are mostly copied listings, so we can't pin down when it changed. Nearly all say it's closed Tuesdays; one says Wednesdays. One post found holiday hours matched weekdays.
  • Side-dish refills are split: one post was told there are none, another got the scallion salad refilled twice. Two posts relay being told to order everything at once, with no add-on orders.
  • Two posts copy a notice that takeout is weekdays after 3 p.m. only, never on weekends, holidays or in July–August. Nobody actually took food out; one owner advised against carrying it back to Seoul.
  • No post describes getting here by train or bus. Everyone drove, and one post says it's hard to reach on foot.
  • Seven posts give the phone number as 033-462-1515; one wrote 033-468-1515. A claim that groups up to 50 can book is hearsay in one post; no one reported booking a table.
  • Two birch-forest guide posts share the same headline and layout and name this place only as a lunch suggestion; one admits the writer hadn't been. We counted neither.
