화천코다리 Kodari is half-dried pollack, usually braised in a red sauce; Hwacheon is the county town where the shop stands.

Compiled from 7 blog posts read in fullSources →

A fish restaurant on Jungang-ro 3-gil in Hwacheon town, across from the police station and tax office. The core meal is braised half-dried pollack with radish and somen, eaten with pot-cooked rice; monkfish-seafood jjim, roe stew and a pollack hot pot are also on the menu. All seven visit posts describe scooping out the rice and pouring water into the pot for scorched-rice soup. We read 10 posts from January 2025 to October 2026: two were about a different restaurant in Gandong-myeon and were set aside, one was a list entry, and seven describe a visit.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Six posts say the portions are large. Two note the lunch braise comes as one whole fish per person; one counted four forearm-length fish on the table, and one roe-stew diner says the pot still had soup left after everyone served themselves.
  2. Four posts took extra side dishes: two mention a self-serve bar, one refilled laver and bean sprouts several times, one had the cucumber pickle refilled twice. The claim that all sides are made in-house was told to bloggers by the owner, so we don't count it.
  3. Four posts call the sauce spicy; two others call it spicy yet say in the same breath it isn't really hot, so they don't settle it. Two posts say there was no fishy smell.
  4. Two posts mention a room at the back, one adding a movable screen to split tables. One saw a baby chair; two say the toilet is inside the restaurant.

Posts saying you can park5 of 7 posts

Five posts parked in the lot in front. One found it fairly full right after the afternoon break, another found it packed at lunch; one points to a nearby parking tower when it is full.

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside

Toilet inside2 of 7 posts

No post describes the floor from experience; the "1st floor" in the address is just the listing.

Nobody mentioned a step at the entrance or getting in with a wheelchair or stroller. That means unknown, not absent.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 8 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Mealtimes are busy: one post saw a short queue form while eating, another found it full at about 6 pm. One was told locals phone ahead to reserve, and one saw a separate area full of reserved tables. Four posts give the same phone number, 010-9623-8228.
  • All the opening hours are copied listings, and they disagree. Six posts agree on a 3-5 pm break. Three give 10:30-21:00, two give 11:00-22:00, and the January 2025 post gave 10:00-22:00 with last order at 21:30. Two say closed Saturdays; five say open daily.
  • We know almost nothing about prices. One post gives 2,000 won for pot rice; none gives the price of the braise, the jjim or a whole meal. One calls the lunch set good value.
  • No post arrived by bus or on foot; we only have drivers' accounts, so public-transport access is unknown.
  • Only two posts say who they came with: one couple, one large family with parents. None came with friends or alone.
