Compiled from 18 blog posts read in fullSources →
Baegamsan Gamjatang sits in an alley inside Hwacheon Market, a short walk from the Hwacheon public bus terminal, serving pork-bone stew, bone hangover soup and blood-sausage soup. Three visitors paid 10,000 won for the bone soup, and two paid 38,000 won for a medium pot of stew. Six posts ate here in the morning, and three noticed a crowd of soldiers or officers. We read 27 posts dated April 15, 2025 to October 17, 2026; 19 describe an actual meal. One was about the shop next door and was set aside, and seven were multi-restaurant lists or link-only entries that we did not count.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- Portion size comes up more than anything else, and all ten posts that mention it say it is generous. One counts three big bones in the hangover soup, another says three large bones; a third says three adults sharing a medium stew were too full for the fried rice. No one called it small.
- Five posts call the owners kind. Two say the couple suggested places to visit nearby, one says they happily charged a phone, and one says the owner spotted a festival ticket and asked whether they had caught any trout.
- Three posts say the side dishes are napa kimchi and radish kimchi, refilled by yourself. Two of them add that a stew order also brings stir-fried fish cake, which one says is not at the self-service bar; you ask the owner for more.
- Five posts call it clean. One singles out the sauces and tableware; another says the decor is nothing special but the room is clean. One guessed it had been remodeled recently, but only as a guess.
2 more
- Company varies: five posts came as a couple, four with family, two as a group of three and one alone. Three of the couples were visiting a boyfriend doing military service in Hwacheon.
- Two posts arrived by bus: one took the first coach from Dong Seoul, got off at the Hwacheon terminal around 9:15 and ate right away; the other changed to the intercity bus in Chuncheon. One visitor could not find the place by GPS and had to phone for directions, and another warns that the market alley is narrow and winding.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.
From the station
2 posts say it is walkable from the station.
Getting inside
We do not know what floor the restaurant is on; no post says.
We do not know whether there is a step at the door or whether a wheelchair or stroller can get in. That is not a no; nobody wrote about it.
We do not know whether the restroom is inside or separated by gender; no post mentions it.
No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 25 posts we gathered, 7 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- No post describes waiting, which means no one wrote about it, not that there is never a wait. One visitor found it already full at 7 a.m.; another arrived at 2 p.m. to a quiet room that filled up right after.
- Opening hours disagree. Four 2026 posts list 8 a.m.–8 p.m.; two 2025 posts list 7:30 a.m.–8 p.m. and 7:30 a.m.–10 p.m., all copied into info boxes. Only two posts mention a Wednesday closure, while four say open daily. A July 2026 visitor said it opens at 7:30, and an April 2026 visitor found it full at 7 a.m. Check before you go.
- All we know on price is 10,000 won for the bone soup and the blood-sausage soup and 38,000 won for a medium stew. One post called it very cheap and none called it expensive. No one gave prices for the large or small stew, the fried rice or the add-ins.
- Five posts give the same phone number, 033-442-2238. No one says whether reservations are taken. One promotional post says you can phone in a takeout order, but not as something the writer did.
- Two January 2026 posts by the same blogger follow a keyword-stuffed promotional template, so we counted only that the writer went with a grandfather and found no gamey smell.
