Supsogui Binteo Bangdong Makguksu

숲속의빈터 방동막국수 Supsogui binteo means 'a clearing in the forest'; Bangdong is the village (Bangdong-ri, Girin-myeon) it stands in, and makguksu is Gangwon-style buckwheat noodles.

Compiled from 24 blog posts read in fullSources →

A makguksu house on Jochimnyeong-ro in Girin-myeon, Inje, on the road between Bangtaesan, Gombaeryeong and Achimgari Valley. The menu is three things — buckwheat makguksu (8,000 won), boiled pork suyuk (20,000 small, 25,000 large) and potato pancake (5,000) — plus makgeolli. The noodles come dressed, and you pour in as much broth from the kettle as you like; there is no separate cold or spicy version, and one post says nobody explains this, so a neighbouring table asked them whether theirs was the cold kind. It is a country-house dining room where you take your shoes off, with both floor tables and chairs. We read 30 posts dated 13 August to 14 October 2026: 24 record actually eating there, 5 are introductions or lists we did not count, and 1 was about a different noodle house and set aside.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Cheapness comes up again and again: ten posts call it inexpensive and none call it pricey. One notes that makguksu elsewhere now tops 10,000 won while here it is 8,000; another could not believe the potato pancake was 5,000. One couple had noodles, pancake and pork and paid under 50,000 won.
  2. Seven posts say the portions are large: the regular noodle bowl is big enough that you need not order a double, the 5,000-won pancake nearly covers its plate, and even the small pork plate is generous.
  3. You take your shoes off to go in — eight posts say so. Nine mention floor seating and several mention chair tables too; one diner arriving around 1 p.m. was told the chair tables had a wait but a floor table was free right away. One suggests chairs if you bring older relatives. Five mention tables outside.
  4. Waits vary. Three posts walked straight in — on a weekday, on a weekday at 1:30, and on a Sunday around 1. One regular says there was a line last time but it moved fast, and one had to wait only for a chair table. Claims of long weekend queues were hearsay, so we did not count them. Three posts say the food arrives quickly, one within three minutes.
3 more
  1. Three posts mention hot buckwheat tea at a self-serve corner. Extra side dishes are self-serve (three posts), and takeaway containers are left out so you can pack leftovers yourself (three posts). Several note the white kimchi and pork garnish are sold to take home.
  2. Plenty of repeat visitors: seven posts are by regulars or people on a return trip, one past ten visits and one on a fifth. On the other side, one post says flatly not to go, and one found nothing special in the taste.
  3. Four posts went with friends, three as a couple, three with family and one in a larger group. Eight mention driving there, and many stopped in after a hike, a camping trip or tending family graves.

Getting inside

Second flooryes 0 · no 1 (of 24 posts read)
Toilet insideyes 0 · no 1 (of 24 posts read)

The only word on floors is one post calling it a single-storey building; nobody mentions a basement or stairs.

Nobody says whether there is a step at the door or whether a wheelchair or stroller gets in — we don't know, which is not the same as no. Eight posts do say you take your shoes off to enter.

Only one post mentions the toilet: it is outside the building, and was clean. Nobody says whether it is separated by gender.

No one mentioned: In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 29 posts we gathered, 5 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • The potato pancake has gone up: two posts say it was 3,000 won in 2024 and is 5,000 now, and a third just says the price rose. One regular says the pork and noodle prices are unchanged in two years, while soft drinks went from 1,000 to 2,000 won. Every post from August 2026 on gives 5,000 won for the pancake.
  • No post describes getting there by bus. One says it is hard to reach without a car, and eight mention driving.
  • Twelve posts give opening hours, mostly copied from listing blocks. Ten agree on 10:30–19:30 with a 15:00–16:00 break; one gives 10:30–20:00 with a 15:20–16:00 break. 'Open every day' appears only in two copied blocks. First-hand, posts saw a break-time sign at the entrance, and one noticed latecomers arriving right as the break began.
  • Seven posts give the phone number 033-461-0419. Whether it takes reservations we only know from one copied info block saying it does; nobody reports booking.
  • Four list-style guide posts share one template (address, phone, signature dish only) and were not counted; one of them gives closing as 3:20 p.m., which does not match any first-hand post.
