Noodle houseKorean

Mebau Myeongga Chuncheon Makguksu

메바우명가춘천막국수 Myeongga means a house of renown and Chuncheon makguksu is the city's buckwheat noodle dish; none of the posts explain the word Mebau.

Compiled from 20 blog posts read in fullSources →

A pure-buckwheat makguksu house on Danganjiju-gil in Geunhwa-dong, Chuncheon, near the Soyang River Skywalk. The white noodles use only the inner buckwheat flour; each bowl comes with its own small bottle of perilla oil, and you mix in dongchimi broth. In September–October posts the plain buckwheat noodles cost 13,000 won, the radish-green or gondre perilla-oil versions 15,000 won, and the noodle-and-pork set 22,000 won. The perilla-oil noodles with radish greens (11 posts) and the plain buckwheat noodles (10) were ordered most. We read 30 posts dated May 23 to October 20, 2026; 22 describe an actual visit, and the other 8 are multi-restaurant lists or copied listings.

Rows without a count: 5 of 14 posts.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Buckwheat tea is set out by the entrance. Thirteen of the 22 visit posts mention it — some drank it while waiting, others took a cup on the way out toward the Skywalk. One writer had two cups.
  2. Six posts say the portions are large. The noodles come as two coils as standard; one writer thought at first the wrong order had arrived, another simply warned that the servings are huge.
  3. Five posts say you order on a tablet at the table. The perilla oil and a bottle of dongchimi broth arrive first.
  4. Three posts came with children. One family was given a child's portion of noodles, another found the soy-flavoured radish-green noodles ideal for kids. One post saw a high chair.

  1. Two posts arrived without a car, both walking from Exit 1 of Chuncheon Station via the riverside. The '16 minutes on foot' figure is copied from the listing.

Posts saying you can park7 of 20 posts

Seven posts parked here, four of them saying they came by car. The shop's own lot to the right of the building holds about five cars, according to one post. The overflow options — the Skywalk lot (two hours free on weekdays, free on weekends) and the election commission lot — are repeated from the shop's notice. One visitor parked on the street out front on a holiday weekend.

Where it is

Getting inside

Separate restrooms1 of 20 posts

No visitor says what floor the restaurant is on; the '1st floor' is only in the registered address.

Nobody mentions a step at the entrance or getting in with a wheelchair or stroller. That means we don't know, not that there is no barrier.

No post says whether the toilet is inside the restaurant. One post only notes separate men's and women's toilets that were very clean.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 28 posts we gathered, 8 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

2026-10-114 posts in one day

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Two posts waited. In May a writer registered at the waiting kiosk out front and was called by KakaoTalk message; an October post also queued. Neither says for how long. One post saw a waiting bench; another found the room packed but got a table straight away.
  • Prices have risen: the noodle-and-dumpling set was 17,000 won in July and 18,000 won in October. One undated list post quotes older prices of 12,000, 14,000 and 21,000 won. A meal runs 13,000–15,000 won for noodles alone, 18,000–22,000 won for a set.
  • The bank-transfer discount went from 10% in a July post to 5% in an October post. The 5% discount for certain university students, soldiers, firefighters and police, and the free sorghum pancakes for a review (two in July, three from September), are copied from the shop's own notice.
  • Opening hours are all copied from listings, and they disagree. Weekdays 10:30–20:30 with last order at 20:00 is consistent. For weekends, six posts say until 21:00 while five say 10:30–20:30 every day; one gives a 10:00 weekend opening. Only one post says the shop never closes.
  • Two phone numbers appear: 0507-1433-2251 (nine posts) and 033-254-2232 (three). Nobody reports booking; one post suggests reserving ahead for a large group.
  • Some visit posts share a template: two have an identical hours-and-directions block and the same map link, and four carry the same link to the shop's meal-kit store. Two posts disclose sponsorship, two say they paid themselves, and 18 say nothing. Claims such as '100% buckwheat', domestic chili, pork and kimchi, and the 1930 market-stall origin come from the shop's own signage, so we did not count them.
