FISH MAN
피쉬맨대게횟집 Piswimaen Daege Hoetjip Fishman is simply the English word written in Hangul; daege means snow crab and hoetjip a raw-fish house.

A snow-crab and sashimi house right on Gyeongpo Beach in Gangneung, with two floors and a sea-facing terrace. Of the 24 posts written by people who ate here, 20 had the 170,000-won set: a 1 kg live crab preceded by a long run of side dishes (tofu, abalone, fritters, pancakes, noodles, fried chicken) and followed by crab-shell fried rice and a spicy red-crab stew. We read 30 posts dated 15 to 27 October 2026. Four were about a different restaurant in the same building and were set aside, and two were not dine-in visits (a top-ten list and a takeaway), leaving 24. Two disclosed sponsorship, one was a reviewer-program visit, and the rest say nothing about who paid.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.
What sets it apart
- There is a terrace on the sea side of the ground floor, mentioned by 15 posts. Since these were October visits, several note patio heaters keeping it warm; on busy evenings people found it full and sat indoors.
- Family visits lead with 6 posts (babies, a ten-year-old, parents). 4 brought children and 5 note high chairs; one says staff asked about a high chair and brought baby cutlery. 2 posts were couples and 2 were groups of friends.
- 7 posts mention a review event: write a Naver review and get mini ice-cream pellets or fireworks. One diner took the fireworks to the beach after buying a lighter next door.
- 7 posts mention takeaway, ordered at a kiosk (sashimi and crab boxes). For dine-in, one post says staff took the order at the table and another ordered at the kiosk.
1 more
- 8 posts say the portions are large; diners write that a third person still couldn't have finished, or that they were too full for the stew or the fried rice.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.
Getting inside
| Second floor | 20 of 24 posts |
|---|---|
| In a basement | yes 0 · no 4 (of 24 posts read) |
| Toilet inside | 2 of 24 posts |
| Separate restrooms | 3 of 24 posts |
There is an upstairs floor, mentioned by 20 posts: a large hall plus a group room (one post says it seats about 16), with 6 posts noting a private room. One weekday-evening visitor found the upstairs closed that night.
Not a basement place: 4 posts say they sat on the ground floor.
No one describes the entrance step, getting in with a wheelchair or stroller, or whether there is a lift to the upper floor. That means unknown, not absent; one post's 'wheelchair accessible' is copied listing data and not counted.
2 posts place the toilet inside, at the very back of the ground floor; 3 describe separate men's and women's rooms. Other posts repeat the stock 'separate toilets on each floor' line and are not counted. No one mentions an accessible toilet.
No one mentioned: Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 26 posts we gathered, 2 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Most posts follow the same brief: 28 of 30 went up within one week (21 to 27 October), repeating identical lines about seawater piped straight into the tanks, no chemicals, sea in front and lake behind, toilets on every floor, and the same list of nearby hotels. We treat the tank claims as the restaurant's own messaging. The rare dissent: one diner wrote there is no particular reason to pick this place over its neighbours, and a takeaway customer found the fish poor for the price.
- Only one post calls it unremarkable, saying the strip has many similar places.
- No one says they came by bus or train. Several posts repeat 'five minutes' walk from the Gyeongpo bus stop', which is the restaurant's own directions. One guest walked about ten minutes from a nearby hotel.
- No one reports queuing, but posts describe the place nearly full on weekday evenings, empty before 5 pm then filling at dusk, and window seats being the most contested. One notes the crab takes about 20 minutes to steam.
- Opening hours: 15 posts agree on 11:00 to 02:00 (last order 01:00) Monday and Thursday to Sunday, and 14:00 to 23:50 (last order 22:50) on Tuesday and Wednesday. All are copied info blocks; one post says daily, one says 02:00 only Saturday to Monday, one says closing at 23:50. No dine-in post gives a closing day.
- The benchmark meal is the 170,000-won crab set for two. 2 posts say it is not overpriced, 4 call it pricey or note beachfront prices without a verdict, and 1 finds the drinks expensive. The crab-and-sashimi set is 230,000 won (small) and the medium sashimi platter 150,000 won.
- Phone 0507-1490-1718, given consistently. 5 posts mention booking (via Naver); one warns same-day bookings and changes are hard, another that walking in may be difficult. The free van pickup for next-day bookings comes from the restaurant's own listing.
