Gossine Donghae Makguksu Gangneung Bonjeom

고씨네동해막국수 강릉본점 Gossine means 'the Go family's place', and Donghae makguksu means East Sea buckwheat noodles. Two posts say the family started out as Donghae Makguksu in Jeongdongjin.

Compiled from 24 blog posts read in fullSources →

A three-storey restaurant right on Gangmun Beach in Gangneung, serving buckwheat makguksu, chodang soft tofu, buckwheat-noodle gimbap and kkamakjang-braised pork. Three posts put the perilla-oil makguksu at 11,000 won. The tofu noodle soups are 12,000 won, and a one-person set of noodles with pork is 20,000 won. The counter and a Gangwon gift corner are on the ground floor. Most diners eat upstairs on the second or third floor, at picture windows facing the sea. The third floor is where dogs are allowed. We read 30 posts dated 27 August to 27 October 2026. Of these, 28 are about this restaurant and 24 describe actually eating here. The other two were about the Seoul Jongno branch and a different noodle shop.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Fourteen posts ate looking at the sea through the big windows. The window seats go fast, though. One post found them all taken around 1 p.m. on a weekend, another before noon, and a third simply could not get one. One post adds that the window seats are mostly tables for two.
  2. Six posts walked straight in, and two had to queue. The no-wait visits were at 12:20 p.m. on 15 October, around 11 a.m., early morning, a late lunch, a weekday evening, and a weekday before a holiday. The two that queued wrote that there is always a bit of a wait, and that a wait was a given as soon as they arrived. There is a CatchTable kiosk at the door. One post copied the notice: if you are not in within five minutes of being called, your place is cancelled.
  3. Five posts either brought a dog or saw many dog owners eating. Dogs sit on the third floor. Two posts kept their dog in a carrier, and one says the stairs to the third floor were steeper than expected, so they carried the dog up in a bag.
  4. Six posts came with children. Four saw high chairs for themselves, two of them on every floor. Three ordered the cheese roll katsu for the kids.
2 more
  1. The free side dishes are three: kkakdugi, pickled radish and young-radish kimchi. Six posts topped up at the self-serve corner.
  2. Six posts mention the ground-floor wall covered with celebrity autographs.

Parking

9 posts say you can park. None say you cannot.

Posts saying you can park9 of 24 posts

There is no private lot. Diners use Gangmun Beach public lots 1 and 2 right outside, and nine posts parked there without trouble. The free time is reported differently: two posts say one hour free plus 30 minutes when you eat, one says the restaurant registers 90 minutes free. One post found the front lot full and walked from lot 2. Another warns that unless you drive a compact or electric car, getting a space is really hard.

Getting inside

Second floor14 of 24 posts
In a basementyes 0 · no 6 (of 24 posts read)

The seating is upstairs. Fourteen posts sat on the second or third floor, and six describe entering on the ground floor and going up. No one mentions a basement. Posts disagree on whether you can eat on the ground floor: three say there are a few seats there, two say dining starts on the second floor. Two posts note that you pay on the way out, back on the ground floor.

We don't know whether a wheelchair or pushchair can get in, whether there is a step at the door, or whether there is a lift. Nobody wrote about it. Diners eat on the second and third floors, yet the only remark on getting up there is one post saying the stairs were steeper than expected. One promotional post written without a visit calls it a certified accessible business; we don't count that.

We don't know where the toilets are or on which floor. No visitor wrote about them. Two posts carry copied info blocks listing a toilet and separate men's and women's rooms, but we don't count copied text.

No one mentioned: Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 28 posts we gathered, 4 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Heat is a split verdict. Five posts found things spicy. Two say the red soups look hotter than they are and are not really spicy.
  • We don't know how to get here by bus or train; no visitor wrote about it. Two posts walked over from nearby hotels (Seamarq, St. John's), and one rented a car at Gangneung station.
  • Opening hours vary between posts. Of the fifteen that give them, seven say 10:00 on weekdays and 08:00 at weekends, closing at 20:30. Four say 10:00 daily, one 10:30 daily, and one 08:00 to 21:00 daily. Nine agree on a 15:30–17:00 break, with last orders at 20:00. One post says it never closes and another says it is closed on Mondays. One more mentions a one-day closure after major holidays. Most of these hours were copied from listings.
  • Prices mostly agree, except for the two-person set: 37,000 won in a 26 October 2026 post, 36,000 won on the menu board in a 12 October post. Two posts give the cost of a whole meal. One paid 24,000 won for perilla-oil noodles, perilla tofu noodle soup and rice, cut to 22,800 won by a 5% Naver photo-review discount. The other ate their fill with sides for under 15,000 won a head. A list post written without a visit quotes higher prices, such as 12,000 won for the perilla-oil noodles; we did not count it.
  • Two phone numbers are in circulation. Seven posts give 0507-1421-5458, and two list posts by the same blogger give 0507-1426-3484. The only booking we can confirm is joining the CatchTable waitlist. Claims that group bookings are taken come only from copied text.
  • The story that the restaurant began in Jeongdongjin and moved to Gangmun Beach in 2020 comes from two posts copying the restaurant's own signage. Nothing changed at this address during the period we read.
  • Three posts say they were sponsored, and one came through a review programme (Supermembers). Separately, four or five posts share the same title, 'Gangneung locals' pick', the same hashtags and the same lines, such as noodles being pulled to order. One of them is a sponsored post, so the others may be commissioned too, and we gave their praise less weight.
