Dunnaeyeok Hanu

둔내역한우 Dunnae-yeok means Dunnae Station and hanu is Korean native beef; the restaurant stands about three minutes' walk from KTX Dunnae Station.

Compiled from 19 blog posts read in fullSources →

Dunnaeyeok Hanu is a butcher-restaurant right in front of KTX Dunnae Station in Hoengseong, Gangwon. You pick 1++ hanu from the display case by the door, pay for it at the counter first, then grill it over charcoal at your table. One post noted there is no separate table-setting charge. The annex next door is for guests who bring dogs. Of 19 visit posts, eight chose the mixed pack, priced at 160,000 won and "around 160,000 won". Three came at lunch just for the herbal short-rib soup. Two posts rode the free pickup van between the Welli Hilli Park resort and the restaurant. We read 30 posts from September 2025 to October 2026. Of these, 19 are visits, eight are templated promotional posts we did not count, and three are multi-restaurant lists.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Many visitors bring dogs. Eight visit posts went with a dog or ate alongside one. Dog owners choose meat in the main hall, then move to the annex, where one post found a pee pad laid out. Two posts were shown into a private room in the main hall with their dog when it was quiet. One owner whose dog was only on a leash wrote that it singed its fur getting too close to the grill under the table.
  2. Seasoned deodeok root comes as a standard side and is refilled. Five visit posts got refills. How many is unclear: one post said twice, another said once, and two said refills stop if you grill the deodeok. "Unlimited refills" appears only in the templated promotional posts.
  3. Booking through Naver brought a 5% discount. Six visit posts booked ahead, and four received a discount or coupon. One post said the staff did not apply it unprompted; they had to ask after paying for the meat, and the card charge was cancelled and rerun at the lower price.
  4. Most who commented on price found it expensive: four visit posts said so, one said it felt like no rip-off at all, and one expected it to be pricey but found the portion generous. Recorded amounts: 160,000 won for a mixed pack and 90,000 won for ribeye (Dec 2025), about 400,000 won in meat for five people, and about 250,000 won of brisket and rib finger for a family of four.

Parking

5 posts say you can park. None say you cannot.

Posts saying you can park5 of 19 posts

There is a lot in front of the building. Five visit posts parked there and four called it roomy; one guessed it holds more than 30 cars. Another found spaces free at 6:30 on a Sunday evening.

Where it is

Map showing where Dunnaeyeok Hanu is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

From the station

3 posts say it is walkable from the station.

Getting inside

No post says which floor the dining room is on or whether there are stairs. That means nobody wrote about it, not that there are none.

No post says whether there is a step at the entrance or whether a wheelchair or stroller can get in. Even the post about visiting with a 40-month-old does not mention a stroller.

No post says whether the toilet is inside or whether it is split by gender.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 30 posts we gathered, 11 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

2026-09-012 posts in one day

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • The price of the herbal short-rib soup is unconfirmed. 18,000 won appears only in two templated promotional posts; a January 2026 diner wrote that it was 23,000 won, unsure.
  • No one wrote about waiting. Two posts walked straight in, at 6:30 on a Sunday evening and at a weekday lunch. Nobody reported on weekend lunch or dinner waits.
  • Three visit posts said it is close to KTX Dunnae Station, but none actually arrived by train. Three came by car; the rest used the free pickup van or did not say how they got there.
  • Opening hours are only copied from listings. Six visit posts copied 09:30-21:30, open every day, and two gave a 21:00 last order. One post wrote 09:00-20:00, which matches the annex hours another post listed separately. No one recorded hours from their own visit.
  • The phone number given most often is 0507-1361-7726; one post each lists 033-343-7766 and 033-345-2540. Visitors booked through Naver or by phone.
  • We did not count eight templated promotional posts. Four from one blog and two from another repeat the same points in the same order: three minutes from the station, unlimited deodeok, a 13-seat Mercedes Sprinter. Two more posted on the same day, 1 September 2026, share the same menu and sentence order.
