Hyeondae Makguksu
현대막국수 Hyeondae is simply the word for 'modern'; makguksu is Gangwon-style buckwheat noodles served cold in broth or with spicy dressing.

A buckwheat-noodle house in the lane of Bongpyeong traditional market in Pyeongchang, Gangwon, serving makguksu made from 100% buckwheat. One August 2026 post lists the pure-buckwheat cold noodles at 11,000 won and the spicy mixed version at 12,000 won; one visitor added boiled pork. We read 3 posts from July to September 2026; 2 describe a visit, the third is a roundup of three Pyeongchang noodle houses.

What sets it apart
- The two visits pull in opposite directions. The September 2026 post found the owner kind and the noodles arrived right away. The August 2026 post waited a long time, found the broth lukewarm, asked for ice, and was told by one staff member there was none while the owner said he would bring some and never did; that writer says they won't return. With only two visits it is one against one.
- The August 2026 visitor saw walls covered in celebrity autographs. Claims that the house is over fifty years old and appeared in the comic Sikgaek are repeated, not observed, so we don't count them.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.
Getting inside
No post says what floor the dining room is on — not that it's an issue, just that nobody wrote about it.
We don't know about steps at the entrance or wheelchair and stroller access; nobody mentioned it.
We don't know where the toilet is or whether it's separated by gender; nobody mentioned it.
No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 3 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- One visitor says the menu stated a two-person minimum but they were allowed single portions; we don't know if that always holds.
- Only the August 2026 post mentions waiting: tables were nearly full at a late lunch but there was no long line. Nobody wrote about weekends or festival season.
- No post describes getting there by bus or other public transport; one visitor drove, the other didn't say.
- Company is too thin to generalize: one visitor came with parents, the other with one companion by car. Nobody wrote about going with friends or alone.
- Two posts list hours of 9:00 to 20:00 and one says open every day, but both copied this from a listing. Nobody gave a break time or last order.
- Only one post (August 2026) gives prices, and calls the pure-buckwheat noodles a little pricey. Nobody gave prices for the pork or side dishes.
- Two posts copied the phone number 033-335-0314; nobody wrote about whether the house takes reservations.
