Compiled from 28 blog posts read in fullSources →

A soft-tofu stew house on Haean-ro 517 in Gangneung, between Gyeongpo Lake and Gyeongpo Beach. It opens at 8:30 a.m.; the cheese-and-jjolmyeon sundubu and the shrimp-and-mussel jjamppong sundubu are 14,000 won each. Each stew comes bubbling in its own earthenware pot with rice and six side dishes. We read 30 posts dated July 21 to October 27, 2026; 28 of them describe actually eating here. The way the house takes its waiting list changed on September 2, 2026.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Expect to queue. Of the 28 posts from people who ate here, 25 waited; the times they gave are 10 minutes, 10 minutes, 50 minutes, 50 minutes, 1 hour 30, 1 hour 40, 2 hours and 3 hours 40 (that last on a holiday weekend). One couple arrived at 9:30 a.m. on a weekday and drew number 156; another was in the 90s at opening on a Monday. The two who walked straight in came near closing on the Chuseok holiday and just before the afternoon break. Four posts say that once you are within 15 places you must confirm arrival from within 500 m, and one lost their turn to later arrivals by confirming late.
  2. Side dishes are refilled from a self-serve bar. Eleven posts say they went back for more; one went back twice, another three or four times. The line-up varied from post to post, but stir-fried fish cake showed up almost every time, with quail-egg jangjorim, sausage stir-fry and stir-fried kimchi often mentioned.
  3. Food comes fast. Nine posts say so, giving times like about five minutes, five to ten minutes, and under ten minutes after ordering. Only one post waited 15 minutes, and noted that tables seated after them were served first with no explanation.
  4. Four posts found the seasoning heavy; one couple thinned their jjamppong sundubu with half a cup of water, and two said the side dishes were salty too. Portions run large: six posts said so, and one pair couldn't finish a single chodang sundubu between them.

  1. Mostly a place for two: of the 28 posts from diners, 12 came as a couple, 2 with friends and 1 with a child. One post noted high chairs.

Parking

9 posts say you can park. None say you cannot.

Posts saying you can park9 of 28 posts

Fourteen posts came by car and nine of them say they parked: four in the free lot or open lot across from or right in front of the shop, three on the roadside by the door, and two simply that parking was easy. On a holiday weekend one couple circled the area before finding a spot, and another writer says the crowds here make parking and traffic terrible. The free Gyeongpo merchants' lot named on the door is the shop's own notice, which we only relay.

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside

No post says what floor the dining room is on or whether there are stairs. That means nobody wrote about it, not that there are none.

Nobody wrote about a step at the entrance or getting in with a wheelchair or stroller. One post says the waiting area outside is quite cramped.

No post mentions the toilets, inside or out, shared or separate. We don't know.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 30 posts we gathered, 2 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Posts disagree on heat: four call it spicy, four say it isn't, and two say it depends on the dish. One likens the cheese-noodle version to sweet tteokbokki.
  • Posts disagree on size too: two found it roomy, one said it is smaller than expected, and one said it is big but the tables are so close that a neighbor's stew splashed their trousers. Several note that tables for two and four are mixed, so you may be called out of number order.
  • Prices did not change across posts from August to October 2026: 14,000 won for the cheese-noodle sundubu, jjamppong sundubu and perilla-oil tofu, 13,000 for cheese spicy sundubu, 12,000 for plain spicy and chodang sundubu. One post felt it wasn't great value.
  • The waiting system changed on September 2, 2026. August posts say remote queueing through the app was not possible and you had to register at the kiosk outside; posts from September relay the shop's notice that remote waiting opens on weekdays when the wait passes an hour, and from 4 p.m. on weekends and holidays. Several later posts still registered at the kiosk on weekend mornings, and two say the morning list closed around noon.
  • Twenty posts list opening hours, mostly copied from listings: 17 give 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., 18 a 2:30-4:30 p.m. break, 16 say closed Tuesdays. Two say Mondays run only 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.; single posts give a 9 p.m. close, a 7:30 p.m. close, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Tuesday-Wednesday closing. It shuts early when ingredients run out: one Monday diner came out after lunch to find it had closed for the day.
  • Alcohol depends on the hour: one post says none is sold at breakfast and lunch, one couldn't order drinks 30 minutes before closing, and one found it all sold out.
  • No post mentions taking reservations. Ten posts list the phone number, 033-644-2662, but nobody booked by phone; everyone queued at the kiosk or through CatchTable.
  • No post explains how to reach the shop by bus or train. One writer came into Gangneung Station by KTX but rode in a friend's car from there; two walked from nearby lodgings.
