Tripitaka Koreana Records Culture Festival

대장경기록문화축제

This edition · Data as of · Published ·

The Tripitaka Koreana Records Culture Festival runs from 9 October to 1 November 2026 at Daejanggyeong Theme Park in Gaya-myeon, Hapcheon (South Gyeongsang), open 09:00–18:00. This year's theme, 'A Flower-Path Tour of Hapcheon', turns local landmarks into autumn-flower sculptures, alongside family craft activities. Officially, admission is charged and crafts cost extra, but this year's prices haven't been published. We read blog posts from 2023–2025 and picked 5 by people who actually went.

What 5 visitors said

We searched blog posts under the festival's name for 2023–2025: 17 in 2023, 30 in 2024 and 30 in 2025. We kept 5 with enough first-hand detail (none from 2023, 2 from 2024, 3 from 2025) and set aside the other 72 as promotional or too thin.

What people liked

Made for families with children5 of 5 posts

Past visitors say children loved the craft booths, the shows and the playground. 24-23 24-27 25-20 25-21 25-27

Chrysanthemum displays and photo spots4 of 5 posts

The chrysanthemum sculptures on the square and along the paths were the photo highlight. 24-27 25-20 25-21 25-27

The theme park's own halls come with it5 of 5 posts

Visitors also took in the permanent halls, media art and outdoor playground — enough for a full day. 24-23 24-27 25-20 25-21 25-27

Uncrowded and calm3 of 5 posts

Little or no queueing, even at weekends, and a relaxed atmosphere. 24-23 24-27 25-27

Free entry for larger families3 of 5 posts

In past years families with two or more children got in free. Not confirmed for this year. 24-23 24-27 25-27

What people struggled with

Modest in scale2 of 5 posts

Don't expect a big, flashy festival; it works best as an add-on to a theme park day out. 24-23 25-27

Crafts were paid in 20252 of 5 posts

Craft booths were free in 2024 but needed paid tickets in 2025. 25-21 25-27

These are raw counts, not percentages. Someone who did not mention something is not someone who disagreed.

Who goes, and when

Of the 5 posts, 4 were by families with children — including a parent on a two-day Hapcheon trip with a primary-school child, a family of five, and a parent who took two daughters out of school for the day.

Visiting from abroad

None of the posts we picked mentioned foreign visitors or English signage, and the official listing says nothing about other languages — expect a Korean-only experience, though the flower displays and crafts need little explanation. Past visitors bought tickets at the gate; no booking was needed. In 2024 Naver pre-booking (Korean-only) gave 20% off, but this year's booking options aren't confirmed. Enquiries: 055-930-4696 (Hapcheon County, Korean).

Weather and crowds

Of the 5 posts, 2 mentioned crowds — and both found it quiet. One went on a weekday opening day and queued for nothing; another went on a sunny weekend and still found plenty of parking, waiting only for face painting. This year's run is 24 days long, so crowds should be spread thin; weekdays are quietest.

Getting there and access

Of the 5 posts, 3 went by car. Last year's visitors said the car park by the ticket office is reserved for disabled and elderly drivers, so others used the public car park across the road (Car Park 4 is nearest). One drove about two hours from Busan but hit heavy autumn traffic on the Namhae Expressway near Changwon. We couldn't confirm any bus or shuttle service in official sources. Without a car, a taxi is the practical option — show the driver the destination below.

Of the 5 posts, 3 gave access clues: reserved parking for disabled drivers, pregnant women and the elderly by the ticket office and right next to the entrance, and wooden steps up to the viewpoint behind the halls. We couldn't confirm toilet locations or accessible toilets.

Year by year

Autumn 2024

2024 ran 23–27 October. Visitors said all festival crafts were free, with magic, juggling and bubble shows through the day. Activities included bamboo-slip books, mother-of-pearl mirrors and face painting; admission was ₩5,000 adults, ₩3,000 teens and ₩2,500 children.

Autumn 2025

2025 ran 24 October – 2 November, with chrysanthemum displays on five themes. Crafts cost ₩2,000 per booth, or ₩10,000 for a bundle of five with a puffed-rice ice cream thrown in. Adult admission stayed at ₩5,000.

Tips from people who went

  • You need a theme park admission ticket even during the festival.
  • Larger families got in free in past years — ask at the ticket office (not confirmed for 2026).
  • In 2025 visitors bought craft tickets first; the five-booth bundle included a snack.
  • Soap-making needs about an hour to set before collection, so do it early.
  • Drivers: the public car park across the road (Car Park 4) is closest.
  • Some visitors paired it with nearby Haeinsa Temple.
